Remember that scene in Star Wars where Luke, Obi-Wan and Han Solo (and Chewie) are negotiating the cost of passage from Tatooine to Alderaan?

Two passengers, two droids and no questions asked.

At the price Solo quotes, Luke exclaims that they could ALMOST buy their own ship for that!

So one small passenger mission and what appears to maybe be a few hour trip in hyperspace is nearly enough for the cost of an entire new ship.

Perhaps when end-game ships, equipment and engineering time that cost hundreds of millions of credits with 10+million credit rebuys are the norm, then payouts on missions SHOULD be commensurate? Assuming that one Thargoid taking out entire squadrons of players is the norm, and future content follows this difficulty curve. I would hope that FDev doesn't balance the game around super hardcore players all using voice comms who can easily organize 20+ ship Thargoid raids.

Especially if FDev wants to attract new players to the game, and with other games on the horizon which look to show some promise in the space sim genre, then really the grind for ships, ranks and re-buys needs to be lessened significantly. And this is coming from a player who has a fully engineered Anaconda out exploring in the outer rim of the galaxy who missed all the passenger mission hoopla.

Puzzled by the 'No Fire Zone size' fix ... for me its always 10k from the station, never seen 6k. so the new 8k will be a reduction !!

Another Day Another Nerf

Well,

Another day another nerf from the Developers.

Maybe instead of nerfing trade missions, passenger missions, mining missions, trade routes et al,
you should cocentrate on the scourge of combat logging.

This is reaching epidemic proportions on the xbox alone, and I'm sick of the developers
appearing to do nothing about it.

These money exploits that you as developers chose to leave in the game are your fault that
people are making cash from them as everywhere else is dead and you don't seem to want to
do anything to increase pay outs for them.

It's ludicrous that more people whine about money exploits than they do the combat loggers.

These are the real Game Breakers as they spoil the enjoyment for those who play the game without
logging.

Also, the exploits are another way of playing the game your way when you think about it, but of
course people will whine about them because people are buying the larger ships quickly.

They fly those in open play and get shot down by other pilots and this encourages them to engineer
their craft, and defend themselves better.

Frontier Development team I throw down the gauntlet and challenge you to stop the logging going on
and increase all the missions and trade routes by at least 200% as that will help to stop these money exploits
being abused. Yes people will still do it, but by doing these things the fun factor will come back for us all again.

The problem seems to be that many want to use one tool for everything, and expect everything to pay off using that tool. The vast majority of 'small passenger missions' can be done in a 250k Adder perfectly fine. You'll earn back the entire ship many times over every mission. Sure, you could do the exact same mission in a tooled up Cutter, which can be up to about 4000x as expensive. But why should a passenger pay 4000x a normal fare just to sit in a Cutter for a few minutes? And in your story the price was high due to low supply and high risk, neither applies here. We should chose the tools that fit the job well, not expect the customer to change the job based on whatever tool we bring.

Personally I'd want fuel, repair and re-arm costs to be many, many times more expensive. At the same time, have 'high end' missions which almost require a corvette or some such and pays out a LOT. That way people will get that these ships have a purpose, but doing everything with them all the time can be a pretty expensive hobby. :p

  • Fixed issue whereby mining missions could be turned in for profit without leaving station

  • What's up with that? That makes NO SENSE at all. Mining isn't about removing stuff from the asteroid, it's about having the stuff that you get from removing said stuff from asteroids. Why would they even care if you mined it before or after you got the mission? Or even if you just found it floating in space.
There shouldn't be a mining mission anyway, the mission should be: "Get me X tonns of Y, make sure it's not stolen. Mining is a good option."
If you happen to have something, and someone else wants it, why would they even bother to send you out and get the same something AGAIN? They wouldn't, they'd just ask you for what you have already, cause they don't want to wait, and you would get a nice bonus over selling it normally.

This is just yet another artificial and unlogical hurdle for players to do missions swiftly, and/or earn money.

When I used to do some mining, I would just go out, get whatever, return to the station, have a look at who wants my stuff at a higher price, and sell the rest. I guess that's not an option anymore. Not that I mine anymore, it's as boring as it gets. And frontier's RNG hates me anyway. 2 million per hour? I can get that much in a single trade run... Well I would if cAPI would be working.

So do we know when this downtime is scheduled to take place? (Sorry if this was asked/answered. There are already 26 pages of this and it's the sort of info that should be in the top post)

Well missions are still grossly unbalanced. 327,456cr to take someone 22,000 LY. Distance from entry isn't taken into account always either. The grind continues.

Rocks taste better when freshly picked ;)

My dream, is transparency, that is all I ask Frontier transprency. It's not hard. Admit when you fk up and show us what you're doing to resolve it, instead of hiding behind the wall of the studio let the community in please, not to record voice overs under the guise of such a privilege getting a behind the scenes look by some of the community content creators.
