Broken Docking Computer?

Hi everyone,

The Elite Dangerous galaxy servers will be down for PC for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The updates will go live to PS4 and Xbox One at a later date (I'll confirm the date ASAP) - the console versions of the game will not be affected by this downtime.

The change log will be posted below... ASAP. Thanks!

Wings

  • Fixed an issue whereby wing members were sometimes getting multiple copies of combat bonds from destroying Thargoids

Xbox One

  • Fixed a bug where users were not being offered the features they had bought while signed in on an Xbox other than their home Xbox

Hmmm... Just fired the game up on PC after this patch and the docking computer does not kick in when I zero the throttle? Any thoughts? Ship/Docking computer all 100% functional, no damage.

Thanks!

What a bunch of crybabies. The majority of you need to go find another game. You cried and whined because there was "nothing to do." Power play is stupid, engineering is stupid, missions are stupid, CZ's are stupid, CG's are stupid. Waaahhh. There's plenty to do.
Then the endless crying of things being too easy. Now the thargoids are too hard. People ed and cried about not being involved. Now the story is being driven by CG's and WWWWAAAAAHHHHH.
Seriously, most of you... go play Eve, or WoW or some other place where everyone is better than everyone else and no game is cool enough for you.
Seriously... just off. "My ships stays docked until 2.4.03." WWWWAAAAAAAAHHHH!. How about you stay docked... forever.

If everyone who has legitimate gripes with certain aspects of the game were to take your advice, there would not be enough of a player base left for Frontier to justify future updates to the game.

Missions & transport boards are broken for me.
And I let you all imagine the fun I'm having explaining this patch to my wife who is struggling to start Elite Dangerous.....
Will stay docked too 'till things get rounded up a little, I hope...

I have to be be honest, and don’t want to offend anybody, but I have to agree with the sentiment here, even if I don’t agree with the way it was put forth. There are people here who will find anything to moan about. Producing a game like this, at least to me, is mind boggling. I would even know where to start >.<

Not enough missions on the mission board? I’ve just left Sol. I had one faction offering 18 missions. That’s just one. Many other were in the mid to high teens. Many of them were ranging between 2-4 million just for delivering data to the next system, albeit Hutton Orbital.

Perhaps I’m unintelligent and therefore easily pleased but I think this game is awesome, and the devs deserve a little more respect and credit than some of you habitual whingers give them. For me, I’m delighted with the game.

Seconded. As a PS4 player too I think it's incredible that they've made something that plays so well on the console and retains the detailed controls just using a simple console controller.

For the record, my mission board seems somewhere between where it was before 2.4 launched and where it was before this last patch. There are still too many mining missions for my liking, which I just won't do, but there's enough variety in the others to keep me occupied.

My feelings on this patch summed up perfectly. Frontier, you are truly clueless, and that makes me sad.

I think regardless of whether people think the game is under performing on some levels, the amount of vitriol in that video ESP the comments is disgusting.

Frankly anyone in that thread should be ashamed and tbh you linking it supporting it is barely much better imo.

Started to see a drop in mission count today, perhaps my area is just a bit behind on updates?

Seeing 8-16 missions per on average, still the same issues of a certain mission type or two dominating the boards.

Also noticing some crazy delivery and courrier missions sending me to Colonia too frequently. I am sorry, a 22k ly trip is not worth a couple million and several lost days. I can get that in 15-20 minutes next door.

Baseless statement - and one which I totally disagree with. I hear what you are saying but truly - my equally baseless claim is that the majority of players just can't be bothered with all this salt. Sick of it. So why am I here at all I hear you asking? Mm - that is actually a good question. Probably because I just want to add a little of the other side of the player base to the mix - balance a bit perhaps.

Well, 40 pages of salt should be a bright enough clue to even those that are almost totally blind to the facts.

FWIW, I'd much rather be sweetening up FDev with lots of sugar, but the PS4 version of this update has so many bugs (and severe ones at that) that I am finding the game unplayable. It makes me sad more than angry, because I was really enjoying the game before 2.4 dropped. All I can do is...

You are entitled to you opinion. I disagree.
The level of frustration is not something that just suddenly boiled over. These people (me included) have been speaking up about these things for a long period of time.

As a single example among numerous others, let us look at a long requested feature of having station distance from the star factor into the reward for delivering there.
At one stage the traffic report at Rhea showed over 50,000 commanders visiting the system!

Instead of thinking, "Okay, perhaps the factor we added to the mission rewards needs to be scaled back to 50% of what we initially thought", it was just removed. That's really frustrating. 50,000+ commanders driven to make credits because the alternative is an utter bore. So many people with the same complaint here on the forums get shouted down by the witless fanboys bu whom Frontier can do no wrong.

The reaction of the community to Rhea's emergence in the first place seems evidence enough for me that I'm not actually wrong, and I'm not just carrying on about some problem that exists only in my imagination.

Greetings FDev, Commanders,

About salt first, there is none on my side of things.
To clarify, I feel lucky to have such a great game to play on PC, and now on PS4.

FDev did a great job porting this game gorgeously on PS4 Pro and this update did a lot of good to the game.
Textures are a lot less messy, and only non critical bugs remain for what I experienced ingame.

My point here is to say that since the mission board messing up, I'm having a bad time playing.
To try to earn enough credits to continue progressing, I took missions that were too hard & did not even earn me much creds, then as it could have been expected, wild condas blasted my poor Type-9 into bits, somehow affecting my motivation, as a Nth fail.

You see I'm not the best of Commanders there, still on the learning curve.

And that's the only thing important for me to say, I'm having a hard time maintaining on the progression curve since last update.

Oh, and I just can't stay docked on strike like that, I can hear the engineers calling me at night !

I hope FDev will take our thoughts in consideration and that a compromise can be found to bring freshness to the mission board & transport board (as the update teased in the first time) while not breaking apart the progression curve FDev want for their (amazing) game.

Agreed. I’d like to see a minimum of 100 million for such a long trip.
I agree with this - the first (and last) time I went to Colonia & sagA was with a few passenger missions worth 170 mil. (this was prior to the Exploration rank "nerf")
The trip averaged out to about 2.5 mil per 1000ly - that's my benchmark or I don't get out of bed.
The whole Honk-Scoop-Jump thing for hour upon hour after hour after hour is not rewarding game-play - I try to avoid it where possible unless the rewards outweigh my reluctance.

Edit> This is of course assuming neutron highways - if it's hopping around the bubble with tourist missions then it's 20mil per 1000ly or I stay home.

Greetings commander I am glad you like the game however you without realising it just mailed the problem with elite now imo after the hyper earning inflation. You say you are still finding your feet and not that good yet...., And yet you are in a T9. It's like a driver who just passed his bike test jumping in an 18 wheeler.
It was about 1000 hrs before I got my T9 and I was able to cut my teeth in the hauler, cobra, t6, T7 and python before getting to the space cow which is imo the hardest ship in the game to fly esp if you are full on trade build with smallest shields and no armour upgrades. I am not having a go so please don't take it the wrong way, but u need to learn to walk before you run and earlier builds of the game forced this but now you can get to the big ships (not rank locked) way before you learned the game

I totally agree with you and I'm happy to learn the hard way in Elite Dangerous.
I already did the same back in the first Elite.
However I earned the ship the hard way, from my point of view (it's my 9th ship on this game) and will be Lieutenant Commander soon.
It will take me a lot more time to master my ships, but again I'm very happy with that, which is why I love Elite Dangerous.

However, I'm back from a play session just now and still feel like the boards are broken and that the game could be more fun / more rewarding on long course missions (colonia etc...) with a last tweaking maybe ;)

Have a nice day, Commander MadMike !

I don't disagree. The mission board is supposed to allow access to missions based on your combat / trade / exploration rank with an payscale to match, which is then supposed to scale more the better your reputation is with the local faction - but this is still notoriously stingy even for Elite ranked pilots. This is my complaint.
