Patch Notes Update 2.4 The Return - Update 2.4.03

Real people say that if you can't see out to dock your Corvette (or Beluga, or ...) without running over other players you should be forced to use a docking computer. Why? Because you're nowhere near as good as you fantasize you are, ego problems notwithstanding.

Of course I'm certain that wasn't you. Must have been someone else.

Until today I was of the opinion of being the last grumpy old man in here :)

Be advised

- If I "run over other players" I do that in full conscience
- I am the weird guy calling out "Vette inbound" in open like the gentlemen in mobius do
- I was hit by strange acting docking computer guided vessels far more than by any deliberately flying cmdr

and

- something seems to trigger you about being run over by larger ships. Is there some pattern?

Did they do something to the free camera system? I spent several hours Wednesday setting up keybinds for my t16000m to get some footage of my Asp Explorer... Everything was working pretty well. Then, yesterday, I get home from work. Update to the new release, and start trying to record. Suddenly the menu binds look, uh, different than I remember them showing up the day before, although all the key binds are still there and seeming to function.

The big problem was, no matter what I tried, I could not get the camera to detach from the ship.

I'm still getting my head around the free camera system, so it could just be my ignorance, but I swear it was working the day before the patch.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Now I find out that massacre mission counters are not working. I killed 7 ships in a CZ and all mission counters show 0/40. Just brilliant! Just absolutely wonderful and yet another example of what wasn't broken now broken. Utter Crap!

I am hopeful to see weekly updates of the game; hoping to see story progression. However, I am worried to hear game DCs happening. I wonder if this affects consoles the same as PC?

Parece que esse jogo esta ser destinado a criancinhas que não tem nada para fazer bem como velhos aposentados e desocupados. Estão nos tratando como noob.....

It seems that this game is intended for little children who have nothing to do well as old retirees and unemployed. They are treating us like noob .....

I fully agree

Concordo plenamente!!!

Mission targets not registering as "MISSION TARGET"s has been reported. This thread I've linked started as a thread for NPCs that are in wings specifically, but I added a report to it for ones that are not in wings, because I have a feeling the problems are related. They end up having the same effect: NPCs that should be MISSION TARGETs for massacre misions are not.

First report for this was on September 26th.

Are you sure it was the correct CZ/faction?
That's a great question. I did a face palm once, because I was in a system that had states of war and civil war happening simultaneously. Chose and fought for the wrong faction for 2 hours, before realizing my DOH! hehehe...
Yes CMDR because one of them counted down ok. The targets were all the same faction.
CMDR shadowwar;
One massacre mission counted down and the rest did not? Were you expecting all of them to count down simultaneously for each kill? Are you aware that FD "adjusted" massacre missions recently?
If you answered "YES," "YES" and "NO"...I've got bad news for you.

Each kill only counts toward one mission now. You are required to finish each mission count individually. So, if you have a mission that requires 24 kills and another that requires 24 kills, you need to kill a total of 48, to get credit for completing both missions.

If there's a problem with the counters not working (mission target), I'll check out a few CZs, and burn up the support B-line with the rest of you.

Well since everyone is complaining about their favorite feature X being broken or not present at all I guess I'll throw in my usual whine about the T6, T7, and T9.

I hear what you're saying, but I'd never use my Cutter for anything but trade hauling. 5k-per-unit 2-stop routes are very common, and I can earn between 15-25milCR in an hour. Then she goes back into dock until the next credits infusion is needed.

I wouldn't dream of using her in a military mode; the expense would be astronomical. For combat, she maneuvers too slowly for my style. I also don't like missions limited to a large pad.

The "rewards" for flying a Cutter are 5kCR x 720t = 3.6mil for a loop that can be done in 15 minutes.

You're not wrong as far as it goes, but 5-10 trips and you're back on EDDB looking for another loop route. Oh and by the way, 5-6K per ton is one way only, The return rarely pays more than 1-2k per ton. As for the 15mins. You have to be very lucky to turn things around that fast because to get the higher payouts the station is often a long way from the entry point. If you make 15-25Mil per hour then well done is all I can say because by the time I've got all my ducks in a row I only manage around 10mil on average.
Nothing clears out a trade point as fast as a Cutter.
As for the military bit. I like that the Cutter is a slow turning Hull tanked battle cow, but she's not slow. In fact the Cutter is one of the fastest ships in the game.
She can run from anything big enough to hurt her, and can scoff at anything that can catch her, unless it's another Cutter :¬)
As the pivot point in a wing or battle group she's awesome. And with a fully trained and practiced multicrew operating her two SLFs and guns she's positively majestic.

Does this help:

As some of the other posts here have mentioned the missions out to Colonia aren't supposed to be a reason for you to go there, they are to provide a little extra funds for those who want to go there anyway.

I'm playing in solo, so there isn't anyone to take up the other missions, so I'm not entirely certain what you mean. I know somewhat how the BGS works, but not nearly as much as experienced players. All I know is that after this patch there are quite less of them now, which is very much appreciated.

Now all they need to do is allow us to sort the board by mission type.

okay, that's not the post i quoted and replied to, but oh well, that's fine i guess

And now I'm stuck, can't FSD as my hardpoints/gear/scoop is down. None of these items are true.... Even the "lights" for the scoop no longer work.

Yeah this happened to me once after the patch, it was odd, i could not activate supercruise, all my things were in order, it would just not allow me to jump or go into supercruise... i landed at the outpost i left from and saved and exited the game, relogged. This i'm most certain is a bug that has been reported.

Imperial Clipper Shields Underpowered

Please put out a fix to the Clippers shields! I just worked my butt off grinding for the Empire and finally got to Baron and was so excited that I could finally buy the Imperial Clipper. Come to find out, I can buy a really expensive Shield Generator (7a) but I honestly get better shields out of my Fer De Lance or even my Courier. After working so hard to earn the Clipper, I would like to be able to hold my own in battle like I can in the Fer De Lance. Please fix it! Please!

Frontier development is native indian for "manages to break completely unrelated parts of game on minor updates" followed by the infamous 1:10-fanboy-satisfaction-series as in 1 update to break things, 10 updates in the next weeks to fix it again.

I am still not sure what the cause of all this is. The 1993-2013-code-recycling-massacre maybe? :)

Very true maybe there’s a super jump drive in the works that let’s us jump to Colonia in perhaps 10 jumps :)

I heard a rumor that there's going to be a jump gate to Colonia. It will be next to Hutton Orbital. :D

I think it's pretty clear that their mission-generating code is in need of a massive refactoring. Hopefully, that will come as part of the QoL improvements which have been promised.
