Proposed POI name: Ear of Orion
POI type: Nebula
Location: MYCAWSY LY-E C0
Description: Smallish blue/grey nebula with black bar, this nebula on the Orion-Cygnus Arm of the Milky Way resembles a giant ear.

Name: Brindled Black
Game map search ref: Eord Gree FH-U e3-3889
Description: Discovered during the Minerva Centaurus Expedition this small, rather unremarkable black hole is one of the galaxy's most inspiring sites. Encapsulated in a bubble nebula, the swirling gases have formed into long red strands, creating a brindle pattern across the backdrop of black space.

Two Updates to POI

Sadly, both POI have their noted Geysers busted by 3.0 it looks like.

-------------------

POI: Icarus Spouts
System: Pyrie Euq EW-E c11-0

Was at the noted 57.63° / 105.58° and the geysers seem to be gone.

POI: Grill At The End of the Road
System: Ceeckia ER-I b43-0

Was at the noted -4.8, -80.5 and also no Geysers to be found.

Thanks for these informations that keep the map up to date.

Sounds like something worth submitting a ticket about. Perhaps the Thargoids ate the planets?
Maybe. Or maybe someone has deleted it from the database to hide secret army of clones, idk. ;P
I was already falling asleep when I got there. Will try to re-enter system and scan again later today. Probably will try different play modes (open/solo/group) to see if it's the same. If the planets won't appear I'll try to open a ticket.

This sounds like the seed for the system had changed for some reason, so I decided to look up some catalogue stars that I've visited. The same had happened to CSI+16-20178 and BD+12 4266, though the latter had some planets that were left intact. Definitely time for some bug reports.

I went to "Scheau Flyi KR-W e1-6736" (aka Scheau Flyi Weather Project) yesterday evening to visit the fumarole site, it just wasn't there.

Orbital Body: A 1 A
Coordinates: -29.35 / -37.11

Fyi...

If those are IRL known systems, then they might as well be manually created and curated by FDev, and the change might be intentional (like the changes to the TRAPPIST-1 system). In that case it would not be a bug. Nonetheless, filing a bug report would be of use to clarify this.

Such changes weren't in the patch notes though, and I don't see why they would make them. Especially when the change removed all the planets from a system. In any case, I've filed a bug report here.

By the way, systems created from imported catalogue data tend to have only the stars in them manually placed, and the bodies are generated. Exceptions are when Frontier decided to override the bodies as well, usually in places inside the bubble, like Eta Cassiopeia or Trappist-1. The above were far from inhabited space though, and didn't have anything truly special in them - but "no planets" is still worse than "some planets".

marx, I've commented on your bug thread. I don't see any planets for BD+12 4266 on EDSM, but the other system you've mentioned, CSI+16-20178, seems to suffer the same missing bodies as my example. They both have Wolf-Rayet type star as main star. So probably this are the pattern - Wolf-Rayet stars?

Sadly probably half of volcanic sites are gone. I did submit lots of them from all over the place, I don't feel like going as far as Beagle to check if they still exists, especially that more dramatic changes are promised by FD when it comes to bodies in Q4 and whatever we discover or check may be axed again. Maybe it would not be a bad idea to take them off the map and start over.

No, looks like it might be more than just WR stars. One of the nebulae I posted was around an O star anyway. I've also checked 3 Geminorum, and that fell victim to this too. (See this post with screenies.) HIP and HD systems seem to be unaffected, by I'm not sure.

To everyone: could you check some of the non-procedural systems that you've been to, and see if they haven't been changed? If they have, please make a bug report, so that Frontier would fix this sooner.

I have a different proposal. We could lore this as the missing sites having "eroded away" or whatever. Like, changing the description to add a line like "As of [date], the geysers/etc. have disappeared, probably because of erosion or a meteor strike." So this way the POIs do not need to be removed. They could also be moved to a new POI category called something like "currently missing POIs" or something to that effect, to indicate they are not in-game anymore, but they were at some point.

Whatever is missing we should be able to replace at some point with existing sites (example, I've lost two sites on Mitterand Hollow, but found a new one after quick dive), just want to avoid disappointing people who will want to visit something and there is nothing there. I would see it as marking all of them as "Status unknown" until somebody checks if the site still exist. I will do my best to visit if in the area.

I've visited most geyser sides before/around Beagle in the last weeks, its basically 50/50. I could look up and list those that are still there with 3.0 (the once missing I posted here already) if you think that would be helpful.
