Well that sucked the wind out of my sails

if you are flipping systems to fed corporate factions you are always welcome in Winters space ;)

Really? Tell me more :)

So I should really crush Hudson (single handed of course) & encourage Winters to take over the space around my old system, that would be a challenge ;)

Well we don't do anything against Hudson, in fact we are allied in the power struggle that is power play, two factions one Federation and all that. So i wouldn't suggest crushing Hudson as he is our friend against those pesky imperials. But you are welcome to Winters space.

Corporations thrive under Winters, in powerplay terms it mean that Corporations lower all sorts of triggers for us when fortifying and expanding. In role play terms it means that its easier for Winters to control corporate governments (in propaganda terms its for the good of the people living under corporate governments. She makes sure that they take responsibility for federal citizens) due to bribes or effective legislation or both (most likely both).

You are welcome to join the discord group for FUC as a friendly federal and a diplomat for your faction (you don't have to be pledged to any power), check my signature. We have both Hudson and Winters pledged player and BGS players.

The changes in Proposal #1 would limit BGS interaction to the control system only, so it would cut out a lot of aggro if your PMF is an exploited system.

Power aligned factions has been suggested a lot too, which would make life even easier. However I think the reason why this won't happen is that PMFs are a lot of work to introduce, are often placed in a bubble that is incompatible with the Power and need gov changing. If a PMF is locked to a Power there is a chance that the PMF might want to change its mind as well.

This.

Sandro's proposals for PP address the Control / Ethos issue directly, but not many noticed because there was much shrieking about "open-only".

That's a generous offer, thank you. I'll take a look.

How so?
The reason we do BGS is for the benefit of PowerPlay.

True.

But not everybody does BGS work for the purposes of Powerplay. There is one BGS group that I know of whose sole purpose is to spread Communist factions. I was at one time (before PP) loosely aligned with another BGS group, who was simply anti-Fed, and for every PMF group out there, there’s others who’ve adopted “NPC” factions.

I stopped helping the “the brave freedom fighters resisting the Evil Galactic Federation” in Hudson space, because quite frankly it felt like shooting fish in a barrel. You have enough Federation BGS players who are doing it due to Roleplaying reasons, by putting Democratic or Corporate factions into power, that having me do the same was just overkill. So when I’m not helping out in ALD space, I help push out the successors of OCP and WY out of Winters space instead.

I think AJ is aware of this potential for conflict. My old home system was AFAIK completely unmanaged while I was away on a grand tour of the galaxy. It is reasonable to expect someone else to take over an apparently abandoned region (my faction had expanded into several neighbouring systems but I'd never followed up any expansion attempt) if they see no signs of ongoing player activity.

And of course when I returned I saw no signs of player activity from them because the system was already the way they wanted it (feudal in charge). I have been tidying up since march, but the final push to get my faction back in control happened quite quickly because I reinforced my faction as soon as the war became pending. When the war actually happened I did as much as a single player could but in reality it was won before it started because it was my end-game move & I wanted to seal the deal. The point at which my activity would have been noticed was Tuesday, the station changed hands on Friday. I wanted the war over by the weekend because traffic more than triples in that system over the weekend and my actions would have been swamped by (what I assumed would be) random player activity.

With hindsight it was easy because my opposition didn't notice my activity. If I were to try to maintain power against their will I would inevitably lose.

It's one of the reasons why I am not that fond of player introduced factions. They should of just chosen on of the existing 1000s to choose from and then there would be no issues.

Also you don't get rubbish names that don't make sense like there is in Lugh called German Wargaming or something like that. If there is to be a name put in, keep it realistic and not like that.

On the other hand, some names seem to fit right in.

I did try early on to influence my adopted home system by playing the BGS, it was a slow process as I didn't 100% know the best way to influence the system depending on status etc, but I was making a difference.

Then FD dropped a player faction with a stupid name into that system and that was the end of that.

The BGS...it's sort of a nonsense anyway grinding away for a cookie cutter RNG faction that doesn't recognise you or your efforts, filling buckets, conflicting system status that rotate endlessly and without much logic, some people love it though.
This is the depth of my understanding of the BGS, but I'm frustrated by listening to my inara wing talk about this blah blah blah and not have a clue what I'm supposed to do about it.

I'm good with it. I was minding my own business until my system was taken over in pp and the picture I always ignored changed. Joined pp just to bring back the original picture I ignored :D
