I think the threads kept open to give inspiration to fdev on plotting a storyline for Raxxla. All we need to do is invent a reasonable plot....

I think in one of the ian bell interviews I found he said that Raxxla was in the original game. But not in the original release. I think he said it was in several of the original elite games, but only ones release on certain systems. AKA different releases for different computer systems besides PC had difference content in them. So, I think it depends which version of Elite is being referred too. I was wondering if it was in the original they gave us for buying elite dangerous. Which version is it equivalent too or is it unique version.

Based on personal correspondence with Ian Bell I don't believe this to be the case. Raxxla wasn't in any of the original Elite games regardless of platform. The entire galaxy was procedurally generated and system names used a lookup table that didn't contain a combination of characters that could have produced the word "Raxxla". Elite had already been completed, by and large, when Acornsoft hired Robert Holdstock to write the game manual and accompanying novella. Holdstock reused his made-up-word "Raxxla" from 1981's The Alien World to create a great short story but, Raxxla never existed in the game code. In Oolite it is possible to visit Raxxla via OXP user mods to the game but, regardless of the many urban legends about the game, Raxxla has never been a part of the original Elite's code.

This is probably nothing, which is why I'm not jumping up and down and plotting a route to anywhere any time soon. Though i feel, anything Raxxla, whether it be something we could possibly go on or nothing useful at all, still should be posted here. Though odds are this may have already been posted, considering the age of this forum.

This is a qoute from the link below:

''What is the meaning of RAXXLA numerology analysis. The connection between matter and spirit. These letters stand for material, money, power, ambition, strength, intelligence and courage. But it also represents pride, intolerance, domination and impulsiveness. Esoteric meaning leads us to the representation of material life and the spirit as two circles intertwined for infinite life''

(Sounds a lot like a symbol we're well aware of.)

What interests me is: Esoteric meaning leads us to the representation of material life and the spirit as two circles intertwined for infinite life'' Where Esoteric means; intended for or understood by only a small group, especially one with specialized knowledge or interests. We know it's rumoured that The Dark Wheel did find Raxxla, that could be false but who knows.

Though keep in mind you can type in any word and get something on it. Such as the individual meaning of each letter but this website defines the word itself. I am unaware of where they sourced their own definitions from because anywhere else i can't find much on 'Raxxla'. Though what I found here is just to good and related to The Dark Wheel to ignore. Also it is easy enough for the person who named this place ''Raxxla'' to have used similar sources from books.

''Astrologically it is associated with the planet Saturn and the sign of Capricorn. It also represents the material life cycle where the greatest victories follow large failures and where progress comes decline. This path needs you to face a permanent evolution where it is necessary to master and overcome flaws and imbalances.''

It all comes down to how the idea was created really and perhaps it could give us some sort of lead…such as identifying Raxxla, maybe being a ringed planet. I'm not taking this information and running with it like it were a holy text, it's just interesting and maybe worth investigating in some way.

Quite funny and fitting. Would not surprise me if old Holdstock used the letters deliberately to get a fitting meaning.

Does not help us much with location though. Unless the two circles intertwined means something, that is. ;)

Sorry, but how's that? You mean Holtzman's No-"things"related ?
Could be. But lore says it would need an infinite sum of energy to obfuscate an entire planet.

Science says that it would require an infinite amount of energy to accelerate an object to the speed of light, a law of physics regularly broken in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Perhaps Raxxle possesses a device capable of generating infinite power? I'm sure that, where Raxxla in concerned, Frontier would be happy to break the ordinary laws of the game and, of course, of the universe.

Of course on of the few hints that we have, that you Scytale, have often quoted, is that 'it has to be a tiny bit obvious'. Well ... it is VERY obvious that Cassiopeia A is missing from the game. I mean, despite Mr. Brooks' assertion that Cas A simply wasn't in any of the stellar catalogs used to populate the galaxy, it seems pretty obvious that one of the most famous supernova remnants in history is just omitted. Any body fancy a trip?

I think somebody already did that trip!
can’t remember who it was though! ;)

FRifters! :D

I just got back from a three week pilgrimage through Project Dynasty. Went down to the Rift, out to the Zurara, up and over to Hawking's Gap, and then across to the Conflux. Man, you guys were nuts....hats off to you, all! I had the coordinates and had trouble finding a few of them.

Banging around in Colonia remote engineering my farfleet for awhile.

Also, still no Raxxla.

Someone mentioned that the original 'obfiscated' missions had not been removed, that FDev had limited them to Jameson memorial in SD but no one has been able to unlock them since.
Can anyone cite a reference to a Dev stating this?

Raxxla may have always been in the game but have FDev moved the goal posts.
