I've spent hours searching for that spot in Sirius. I still haven't found it.

My wife isn't surprised. [where is it]

could a hidden comet account for the odd orbital behaviour in Sirius?
How does one go about finding a comet? (I presume its orbit isn’t marked)
Why do the stations in Pareco orbit that comet so closely? Isn’t this breaking Newtons law of gravity?

The only thing odd about the orbital behaviors in Sirius, is the orbit of Lucifer. It orbits about 20 times to slow to keep it's position around Sirius B. It would have to be one hell of a comet to achieve that.

It's most likely a bug. I have reported it a long time ago, but got no response.

Another odd thing about Lucifer's orbit is that it is specifically called out in the Gazetteer. It seems odd that Frontier would botch the job implementing a planet's orbit that had been so clearly described in the accompanying media from Frontier: Elite II.

Mmmhh... Idle untill the Cone Collective Suicide expedition, going to look for that Grafenberg Comet or whatever in Sirius. Who knows, It could save our excellent fellow threader's marriage... :)

In Fe:2 and FFE Lucifer has an orbit period of 99 hours. This is very close to what it should have(according to Kepler) and matches the 4.9 days rotational period.

In ED the orbital period is 99 days. This looks like an error in translating the data from the old games.

It's not a typo in the system info though. Lucifer uses 99 days to orbit Sirius B.

So, assuming that someone manages to find this thing, what do you guys think happens afterwards? I understand that we'll probably not get anything of noteworthiness, but i think it'd be nice if, for instance, we'd get a mesage stating that we have the option to skip some massive grind, (rank, engineer, etc.) in exchange for selling the planet's data to the Dark Wheel (through this same message) instead of to universal cartographics.

CMDR Flirbe Rasok may have found a penguin in space, not sure if it's our penguin, tho.

Ahh yes, that's one of mine.

Don't look behind the last icy planet though - that's where I dump the bodies.

"I found Raxxla and all I got was this lousy tshirt"

I thought you were signed up for the Autumn Odyssey expedition, doesn’t that depart this weekend?

FD game designers appear to have an unhealthy fixation on Random number generation, and confuse grind with rewarding gameplay, so that is highly unlikley.

since there is only one galaxy implemented in ED then Raxxla cannot hold ”alien construct that’s a gateway to other Universes, and all that’s in those Universes in the way of bounty, and treasures, and aliens, and life.” So I suspect it may hold a means to unlock some currently permit-locked area of this galaxy.

I would like to think that we would find some alien structure that instantly allows us access to anywhere in the galaxy e.g. Beagles point, but I think all we may find is a rock called Raxxla.
