You're kidding, right? Firing just ONE person would bring the apparent content development team from 0 to -1!
True but at least they would stop screwing up player created content

I flew there in a 19ly jump corvette and spent 25 million transfering parts. Honestly, this (the Galnet account of future events) is actually better than what I was expecting (being trapped for a month in a single, entirely normal, permit locked system).
I guess we were anticipating the same thing, just have different opinions of bad and worse.
FDev shouldn't be telling a story. They should be providing the props and setting the stage.
We should be doing the storytelling.
Of course we/they do. You/we/they have banked on a system that surrenders any potential for agency to developer fiat.
Galnet is a cool guy. Prophesied the future and doesn't afraid of anything.
Usually the worst sort of content in an interactive medium.
More like middle-school, but yeah.
We won't need to.
If I find my CMDR's not trapped, he's just going to look for trouble in the ensuing melee, then leave under his own power. He got to the Gnosis without the Gnosis' help and is completely fine with leaving it a burning wreck.
Now that would offend me, as I don't use Steam.
It's probably the best case, plausible, scenario I could have conceived of!
An ideal state of things, IMO. The more hands off the developer the better. Problem is, developer intervention is needed because so many mechanisms are incomplete. If the core gameplay components where finished and the bugs ironed out, Frontier would never have to write another line of story.
The funniest thing at this point is all the people putatively buying the shiny new ship skins to make a point that everything is okay!
Oh dear. What a week; lol frontier what the hell are you even doing. *sensible chuckle*
Went to the Gnosis, unsurprised by this outcome, was one of several possible outcomes, so I had some idea of my "risk profile" coming here, and this outcome is well within that.
I still kinda hope *something* that isn't just a bunch of Hydra NHSS is around in the system once the weekly downtime happens and there's something to do.
It's disappointing for sure, but again, unsurprising if this is all it is (stay outside the Unknown Permit area, and get a bunch of Hydra NHSS spawning in system).
FD have never been good at exploiting opportunities for gameplay, even when handed to them on a silver platter. Look how under-utilised things like the following are:
- Non-dockable space structures
- Thargoid Materials (just synthesis of Enzyme Missiles)
- Tissue samples/hearts (virtually no use at all except the Guardian stuff for tissue samples)
- Recon Limpets/Hatch Breakers/Scanners
- Environmental damage effects (like the heat in damaged stations, Thargoid gas clouds and electromagnetic effects around neutron/white dwarves)
- Chain missions
- Tip offs
- Etc.
Players are desparate for something to do... that's why so many went to the Gnosis... frankly, not because of genuine interest, but because it was something different with a potential unique outcome. Instead, we'll probably just get the first damaged megaship, and a new NHSS with Hydras.
Unless something remarkable comes out of tomorrow's CGs or after downtime like a hive ship or a new Thargoid ground structure, I'll be back to the bubble pretty quick.
EDIT: As I was coming home, the whole "Galnet articles tend to come out the night before their release date" crossed my mind, and I wondered if FD had thought about that. Obviously not.
I flew all the way back from Colonia for a good 4, maybe 5 hours to do this. I really, really was excited that I didn't miss this awesome event.
you know....on the bright side, this is going to be the first ingame event ruined by someone other than Harry Potter.
Some one tell Fdev the rest of the world doesn't go to bed at 12am.
That said... best case scenario I see is a CG, THEN jump to the Cone sector NEXT week, so they can prepare something special for the trip.
That could be a possibility. They saw a huge influx of players, so they decided to delay the trip a week so they could put something special in the cone sector that wasn't there before.
That's my wishful thinking.
Remember the Salome event? All the preparation all the drama, it was not perfect but imagine on d-day it ened with aa galnet news saying " sorry guys not happening, salome had a problem with his fsd, go home folks, maybe next time..."
Bring back Drew Wagar...
the Gnosis jump jas been re-prioritized.

I cannot wait until Eagleboy wakes up and creates a thread explaining why this is good news!
So you DO have faith!
