Community guests at FD HQ on 27th for Q4 news

Big thanks to all the lucky ones that got invited for all the bits of information that you shared with the rest of us.
Special thanks to Alec that posted here as much as he could to answer what he could and for all of the possitiveness, that i personally received from him, about this upcomming update.
I especially liked what Alec told us about mining and the codex. Now i have something to look forward. Thanks again!

Hype, having a bunch of players tell us "Dude, I wished you had come with me, we saw some amazing stuff, they've been super busy this year for this update." will obviously cause hype, more so if the invited people are under a NDA, you know, because hype doesn't work with lack of knowledge/information.

Hmm, i have the exact opposite definition.
Hype works because of the lack of sufficient knowledge/information, that leaves room for everyone to project their own expectations into it.
That's all hype is, excitement without substance.
Of course, how any player/consumer thinks that's a good thing for anyone but the company will forever remain a mystery to me.

Right, I miswrote, I completely agree with you.

No it really doesn't, because they did the very same thing last year, they took some youtube dudes into FD office to show secret stuff, said dudes came out saying "we can't say squat, but amazing stuff incoming" and then said stuff was released and it was actually... let's call it unamazing.

Fool me once... This time I'll wait to see for myself before being able to feel anything that might resemble any sort of hype.

Not saying the dudes are liars mind, it's only my threshold for believing that "undisclosed things are great because someone said so" has already been breached.

I apologize, please re-read the quoted text.

That's exactly what crossed my mind when I read it. I can understand getting press under embargo so they can get their pieces written in time for the big reveal, but inviting a bunch of streamers so they can tell us that they can't show us anything seems, well, counterproductive. The big fans will just take on faith that the game's going to be amazeballs, and the detractors will just remove the amaze part. The rest of us will just shrug, because there's no new info.

All I can hear now is this tune...thanks y'all.

Cheers duder, your genuine thanks is appreciated :)

Hello,

In the coming weeks, we'll be showing all of the content that was presented to the community guests yesterday. We'll also be hosting a series of deep dive livestreams where we'll be showing all of Chapter Four's features in greater detail (with developer guests!)

We don't have any dates to announce to you right now, but keep an eye on our forums (and our social media pages) for information about those livestreams!

We demand an announcement about the announcement!

Or, they (correctly) realized that en masse feedback isn't helpful. It creates a perception that all feedback is given equal weight...and it just simply isn't. 856 people say that they want X and 857 people say that they want Y. It is an outlier in any type of grand mal feedback that you are going to get an overwhelming opinion one way or the other. So dig down, get a specific audience, and poll them. Their opinions, if well selected, will mirror the larger audience that they represent and it saves you having to spend time and energy for weeks pouring through the forums that you could have one and done'd in a day.

It's the right way day to it, regardless of whose fee-fee's it hurts.

How is that an "or"? It sounds like you're saying the same thing as me with different wording. Focused Feedback was a failure and they aren't interested in feedback from the general public.

Wait.
There are actually people on here posting that they are mad because they weren’t invited!?!

I'm sure some feel that way, but most posters in here seem more disappointed that they simply can't be told what was seen. Many of us would love to know more details about 3.3, and waiting to find out is frustrating. Particularly now because not everyone has to wait, a chosen few have been allowed to know while the rest of us don't. I feel like that's the larger source of angst, not that they weren't invited too.

In a few weeks the information should start flowing from Frontier, hopefully. Still, waiting sucks.

Curious what you predominantly did in the game prior to your visit, and what you are looking forward to most in 3.3

Predominantly? Confined myself to the bubble. Mining and exploration bored me. And a lone wolf too - group meta doesn't interest me.

What I'm looking forward to? Laughing at the complainers scrambling for their next toxic tangent - salt is life, and the out-of-game-entertainment some CMDRs provide me is simply wonderful :D

probably shortly before zac's (was it zac? oh my poor memory ...) announcement of what wouldn't make it and the blunt discarding of ff (and the new! feedback format, etc.), plus the promise of a bright new era. they have probably been working on some bits, here and there, but imo that's where they got released from other duties, turned full focus on elite again, made inventory and projections, realized how deep in shiet they were and decided to be preemptive about it.

So let me get this straight. You unironically believe that, for example, FDEV started to design and code everything that has to do with the upcoming 3.3 update just after Zac´s post 3 weeks ago?

The salty people were already salty. Some people just like a good grump.

Yes, and the optimists were already optimistic. As I wrote above, this would have made sense if the people invited were journalists that need a few days to get a story through the editorial process, and were going to release their stories at the same time as 3.3 releases. What happened does not make sense at all, in fact it makes it seem like there's some sort of favoritism involved (which is not actually the case, OA at least has always tried to be impartial)

It does make sense though. It is clear to me it was way to gather feedback and (re)connect with important and active commanders within community. It wasn't meant to hype us or inform about 3.3 more.
