Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

No, just normal. I usually use the NVidia screenshot key, which produces a nice copy of what I see onscreen.

Anyone know if you can bind the ALT+F10 to a joystick button? I can't find something like that in the options menu (no wonder).

And yes, ED can get very zen-like, once it hypnotizes you into doing something you really enjoy. I'm new to the game, so I like to just challenge my travel speed, by finding some music and see if I can get to my desired target before the music stops. Typically an album and a target ~1500-2000ly away. In the Mamba that is very hypnotic to me[yesnod]

Not that straightforward.
Some keys are "hardcoded" in Elite. Like F10 and Alt+F10 for screenshots, Ctrl+F for FPS counter, Ctrl+B for networking and Ctrl+Alt+G for shutting down the cockpit HUD. You can't rebind them.
The only way you could do that is via your joystick programming software, where you create an "Alt+F10" macro and bind it to a button.

Thanks! That'll do it.

Another two engineer invites. Make it stop... :D

ETA - Etienne Dorn is where? How far away??? Right up there with Marsha Hicks - just too far out for me!

After flying along with the DW2 group, and having fun with all the sight seeing, base gathering and traveling, i side tracked towards the Colonia region, which i haven't visited in a year or so. Had my Vulture transferred from the bubble (45millions damned thieves...) and i'm currently exploring all its systems, bounty hunting, some missions, etc. Lots of changes!

Will probably rejoin DW2 at some point, certainly for the second CG to build the Sag1 station. I don't really enjoy exploring anymore (hullo Fss thing), so i can always buckyball there later!

I stored my EPTs that were mounted on my iEagle and put them on my Viper III. It gave me an error saying something like "thrusters reserved for Imperial Eagle" but then allowed me to mount them anyway.

Odd...

Aaaanyway, my next focus is becoming competent at combat. I hope I stick it out!

Mine too. I think my flight controls are getting so much second nature now, that I'll go back to the advanced combat tutorial and have another go. The persisting challenge is to remember all the bindings, scanners etc., and then being cool with not being able to use those that you haven't read about on some obscure forum, and therefore haven't set up yet. It was probably easier back when dogfighting was pushing the trigger, and hoping you didn't hit the propeller too much.

Edit: I'm not afraid of denting the Mamba anymore ;)

To FDev: That is one of those details that just makes ED awesome.

My Adder now has the Grade 5 Increased Range modification for its FSD, so I will be setting out on another short expedition with my new whopping 35ly range!

To increase the jump range, also look for the Guardian FSD Boost. That's a must for explorers.

If you haven't been there yet, I can highly recommend NGC 7822. It's beautiful and slightly hazardous. A little over an hours flight from the Bubble.

Rescuing folks from attacked and burning stations has really piqued my interest nowadays. I've watched a few videos and wow! The carnage, the disaster, those poor citizens trapped inside a burning station. Yeah, there are credits to be made but I believe it's a better feeling to help out and save folks than just boosting your bank account. So, I have a rescue ship on the drawing board next in line after I get this AspX finished.

Yes I know, I play this game differently than a lot of folks.
