What happened to the FSS ?

The ADS needs to be put back into the game, there was no need to remove it.

I'm seeing a lot of parallels between this issue and the removal of the old modules. Do not go down that path please Max.
This is not the place for this conversation. All I will say is that the old style ADS does not and never will need to be put back into the game.

Case closed.

It has been demonstrated very clearly that there was no justifiable reason to remove the old modules, there was no need to remove them and doing so has only been at the expense of the game, not to it's benefit. It is unrelated to this issue, however Burke makes the good point that there should always be more than one way to achieve a goal, and that no one considers triangulation to be a reasonable alternative.

The logical course of action is not to let this go, but for FDev to reinstate the old modules into outfitting and after this long an absence, issue a sincere apology for their oversight.

Why do you have to come out with stuff like this? Are you a game designer? Do you work on this game? Then probably best not to make silly statements like that. It invites people to correct what is basicly just not true and comes over as bait. Better to keep such things to yourself IMO.

Let it go please. I don't care whether its justified or not. FDev do not need to justify anything, they have made their decision and it does not need to be added back in. This is off topic, so please stop.

What has any of that got to do with what I said.

I have already addressed your points and justified why this issue remains outstanding. It will remain outstanding until the oversight is addressed whether it is chased up or not.

No you have not and it is not an oversight.

That you do not read the posts to which you reply does not mean there is not a problem. That you do not consider there to be a problem does not mean there is not a problem.

Fundamentally FDev removed existing game elements without justification. Having tested the logic behind this decision I am satisfied that there is no justification (that you or any others do not require justification is moot, as long as someone does, and I do).

They just need to be put back into the game. This is only connected to the topic because there should reasonably be more than one way to achieve any goal and triangulation clearly isn't one anyone wants to have to resort to.

The broken FSS just illustrates why space travel tends to have multiple redundancies. This game is supposedly a sim after all, it makes perfect sense that there would be a secondary way to explore.

The game does not the old mechanics. You want the old mechanics. There is a difference between what you want and what the game needs and doesn't need. There was no oversight. The old ADS was removed on purpose. Those are just the facts and have nothing to do with how I or you feel about it.

I read the posts perfectly fine, but you are not being objective. It is all your personal opinion.

If you are trying to scan a system more than 100k LS out, then it is "game breaking" because the FSS will not function properly. Given the intent of the FSS, expecting players to travel closer to a star over 400k LS from the primary star in order to scan bodies orbiting it is not reasonable, but the FSS will not work otherwise.
It's not game breaking, you just have to do it the old fashioned way. It's annoying, maybe even ridiculous, but not game breaking.

So if the Hyperjump drive packs up, is there another way to get to another system? If the FSD drive packs up is there another way to get a station or planet is a reasonable time frame. If your hard points pack up, are there any reasonable alternatives for combat. Nope.

Lol, its the preplanned and thought through "oversight" again.

It was preplanned you can tell as the players with ADS fitted were refunded space-cash and the FSS was introduced in such a way that explorers out in the black didn't have to return and refit.

The total opposite of an oversight.

They've no need at all to appologise for a popular upgrade to exploration.

The old modules did not need to be removed in the first place. The old mining laser wasn't removed, the old docking computer wasn't removed, the ADS, IDS & BDS didn't need to be removed. I want them to be put back, yes, and I want this kind of situation, which is unprecedented AFAIK, to be corrected and for it not to happen again without justification.

There should be, yes. There are lots of aspects of the game that would benefit from allowing the player more agency (more ways to achieve a goal). That the game is also lacking in other areas does not excuse the needless removal of player agency from exploration.

I want them put back in aswell. Not to try and upset other players but to allow me to be able to play the game again. I really cant understand why somebody who was happy using the FSS would even take an interest in somebody elses game.

I agree, the only benefit to removing the old modules was schadenfreude, which does not help to sell more copies of the game.
