What happened to the FSS ?

As a point of interest, did they ever fix the EBL or did you just have to sigh give up?
I finally gave up.... Ironically EBL is something Frontier has acknowledged and even identified as a bug, but it's been well over a year since it was first introduced, and it has only gotten worse instead of better (to the point that some PS4 Pro users started to complain). 🤷‍♂️

I also gave up buying paint jobs or any other game Frontier sells.

Will commented that the issue had been handed to the correct authority, indicating it will likely be addressed, the chatter after school is just chatter, and great alliances are made at such times while misunderstandings are ironed out, the very fabric of the forums are dependant on name calling and the poking out of tongues.

I know and i got no issues with anybody. Its just that i cant allow the myth to grow that ist all me or im somehow leading a group of complainers or i will get blamed. If i dont speak up i invite injustice ;)

Im having issues too. Impossible to find targets with the screen going white on zoom out and falling and twisting graphics. Just started playing again like two days ago after a break of months, i guess i should have known better.

Me too, that sounds exactly like the situation I'm experiencing, and as I'm 8000 LYs from anywhere right now it's bloody irritating.

Having got back to jumping from system to system again (spent a bit of time gathering up jumponium mats), I have seen the new system in effect. It doesn't really bother me, I must say. Yes, the first few times it was slightly disconcerting that the FSS recentered on the main body in a cluster. But it doesn't take long to get used to.

I'm not sure why the change was made, of course. But I'm able to roll with it. Nothing changed much. Of course, I may just not have found a complex enough system yet to be bothered by the change...

It's an unintended change due to a regression, it's a bug, basically.

Also, there are some other dodgy things happening with over exposures and the UI getting warped.

Lots of bug, but no intentional changes.

This is the problem. a camera moving a bit I can deal with, the universe turning on it's side and shrinking to a single 2D line in space that locks my FSS controls I can't.

Had that yesterday with one signal with the FSS, tried a few things. I thought, maybe it's the orbital angle of the bodies messing with it so I tried moving up and down out of the orbital plane, didn't do a thing. Maybe it's the angle I was pointed at so moved around a bit and still didn't work. So I dropped out of normal space intending to fly close and check if there was anything strange going on with the signal, that's when I realised it was 100kls away so all my zomming up and down where I was probably did nothing at all.

So I SC towards it to get a better look, about 20kls away I slow down and use the FSS again, on the same signal I had been trying vainly on maybe a dozen times earlier and it worked fine. Colour me pink, getting clsoer did make a difference, but other signals near that same signal didn't have a problem before, so I suspect it's some blocking effect acting on that signal and just getting a bit closer spread everything out enough to give me a clear signal.

More experiment needed but getting closer does seem to help.

Sorry to be frank but buying an online game and expecting it's features to remain the same is unfortunately a flawed belief. Even non-online games nowadays are subject to heavy change over time due to updates and DLC.

what if somebody bought a game that was supposed to be offline but became a "games as a service" abomination?

ok ok i`m not going to go there... its an old issue... but it still hurts

After this new Patch, my FSS is acting up badly.

  • instead of maintaining the exact zoomed vector after zooming In & back out from an FSS scan, it "auto-centers' on next nearest Parent/Higher Gravity Well (?)
  • zooming in gives 1-2sec of severely discolored FSS display
Working a Gas Giant and its moons is currently rather disorienting. After zooming out, the FSS vector isn't where it's supposed to be but often somewhere else.
Same with a distant B, C, D Sun etc, the FSS almost permanently has to be manually re-positioned with upto 2 zooms back out in order to re-target the correct body :p

Am I alone with that weird issue ?
You are not alone!
It seems the FSS now re-centers on the main body when zooming out. It is awful.
Also there is a bug occasionally rendering the fss screen on a plane almost perpendicular to the 'camera'
ArghhH!

This broke exploration for me!!! It actually causes motion sickness and i'm sure i'm not alone... i'm on the way back to the bubble from beagle point and finding 50 - 62 body systems is now just a hassle and causes sadness all round... PLEASE FIX THE FSS FDEV

Let me know if they ever make a good wireless HOTAS setup (with square analog range of motion for full multi-axes throws in the corners), so I can continue my lifestyle as a couch monkey junky with the hi-fi and big screen in style. :)
If only wireless USB...
