Go back a couple pages and look at my posts and screen shots.

Also for everyone else: I can’t seem to spot the dark planet in witch space while jumping around unless I’m at the systems I mentioned in my posts.
When i turn your image 90 degree, the whole shape, part of which you highligted, looks like a Gigiantic Humanoid shape with a tail. Which reminded me of the original description of OISIR - RAXXLA race from 1980 book: The Alien World.
Dominant intelligence: OISIR-RAXXLA -- GIGANTIC, REPTILIAFORM, PSI-PROJECTORS.

So you might be on to something.:geek:

No problems, we're all trying to solve this one together and in our own very unique ways.

I've been taking a sort of weekly mission snap-shot of factions to collect my data. I'd love to do it daily but that isn't going to happen with RL, so I'm doing what I can.

However, like you I have noted that some factions do receive beneficiary and non-beneficiary missions targets which did confuse me. However, the ones I'm most 'suspicious' of at the moment based on my data collection, are the following list of non-highlighted factions which to my knowledge have only receive beneficiary missions (the red ones have been non-beneficiary missions so I'm excluding them at the moment):

View attachment 130789

This faction group seems to be holding steady, and my suspicions are aroused due to the following quote (which may or may not be canon - I never can tell):

‘You should not consider the Dark Wheel a single organisation, gentlemen.
How could it survive for so long if it were so? The Wheel has many levels,
many hubs, cogs, gears and spokes. It is more akin to an affiliation of
19 organisations that share certain common goals. Interlocking in purpose.
Consider yourselves now spinning on the outermost rim.’

Before I leap into aligning with these factions I'm waiting for more data points to see if more Origin = ? factions appear in the list which will discount my theory, and/or if any other unique flags appear.

I also suspect I need to be 3x Elite anyway, so I'm also working on that whilst collating this data.

Hey Macros,

I was just checking the latest missions offered by TDW, and noticed something that you could verify more easily than I can.

(Note: This is on the assumption I have understood the meaning of 'Target Faction' = non-beneficial for a planetary scan job, otherwise they're both beneficial and you can ignore this post.)

I have two missions for the same faction 'Green Party of LFT 926'.
1. A follow-on mission for 'Green Party of LFT 926' for their home system of LFT 926 (Transport Medical Supplies)
2. A non-beneficial mission for 'Green Party of LFT 926' for SKEGGIKO O (Planetary Scan Job) where they are listed as the Target Faction.

I started looking at some old data I have and noticed it appears TDW seems to be promoting the faction within their own 'Origin' system with beneficial missions, whilst at the same time if the faction is attempting to expand to other systems, supplies a non-beneficial missions to reduce their influence in that target system.

I had a few much earlier data points for this from 3+ months ago, but never made the connection between Origin system and beneficial / non-beneficial as it was only recently I went through and collated the Origin information into my data.

See if this flies with your own observations of missions, and if I've misunderstood 'Target Faction' = Non-beneficial - Well, pass me another Lavian brandy and I'll get back in my data analytics box!

In strict BGS effects, planetary scan - assuming it's the "random spot on a planet" sort, rather than a named installation - are neutral to the target. This may be a bug, or it may be a reflection of the mission not involving anything actually marked as that faction's assets.

Don’t know where you got “19....” from. The correct quote is:

“The truth is far more subtle than they will ever suspect. Shinrarta is merely a front.’

hrm.... I'm thinking the thing we are looking for is actually in 'witchspace', and visible during your transition when traveling from 1 system to another. The specific system to trigger this is in the name:
Ra (Starting point for jump)
xx (the thing we are looking for)
La (Desination of Jump)

It a place but not a place, you get see it but not interact with it yet. Its been in the game since the beginning, it doesn't require engineers/Horizons to see it.
You might be on to something. Because Ra is one of the systems that existed in Original game from 1984

Ra was very close to the old worlds(Lave cluster). Iirc. it was only 0.7 ly from Quator.
Quator is in ED and in the Lave cluster, but it seems to have jumped to the other side of it. :)

If you look at the old map, Ra, Reorte, Lave, Orerve, Reidquat and Uszaa make a nice Hexagon, with Diso in a central position.

The position of the systems are similar in ED, but there is no system that replaces the missing Ra.

Well that's a good start. A missing System from the know Galaxy charts. Could it happen?
Between Reorte and Orrere, RA should have been just above them on a 2d plane, somewhere in sector 80:49:90, or on the edge of it.

Ra is in ED, but is a totally different region. Probably just the same name.
Lots of systems from the original Elite are missing or have 'moved'.

If Ra was in the map, it should be close to Orrere. So should Quator, which it isn't. 😕

I predict Raxxla will found by some newbie console player, that picked up the game on a whim and a sale.

Their first post will be a bug report:

"I jumped into a system, and was minding my own business when..."
"...and then this Raxxla message that made no sense... FIX IT FD - don't you even use a spell checker?"

Z...

Whether someone finds it, won't matter. The content for Raxxla won't be ready for 3 to 5 years.
But when the contant is ready, they will give out actual clues in the game to find it.

Wow you must be heavy involved in the game development to know these things.

Indeed
It should have been “Relax”

You might be right there. Almost 2 years passed between the first UA discovery and the first contact.
Wow you must be heavy involved in the game development to know these things.
How much time did they need to fully unfold the Thargoid story, from the first UAs to the first contact?
How much time did they need to fully unfold the Formidine Rift mystery?
Judging from the experience, he's just being realistic.

Well they are busy with Space Legs for the next 1,5 years. Than it's Iceplanets and Fleet carrier + 0.5 - 1 year.
Than who knows what next.

But many players and writers predict that Raxxla is going to be something Really BIG. They have been holding on to this secret since 1984. Not even writers know what it will be in Elite Dangerous. A Game changing experience.
Parallel reality? New Galaxy? New Aliens? Everything is on the table.

Wise words from the 80's. :D

Excellent pickup.

It actually was from an earlier post in this thread which I had linked as a reference for my research.

With your accurate quote, I did some more detailed fact checking of my own.

It appears that when copying text from a Children of Raxxla PDF document the page number which coincidentally aligns perfectly between the two sentences will be input into the text copy. I verified this and noted the page (18 or 19) from the two different sources I found was incorrectly pulled.

So please disregard the number of factions in the 'affiliated organisations' for The Dark Wheel.

How awesome is knowledge shared!

They better brainstorm this properly to avoid Raxxla becoming an underwhelming experience.

For those who follow the mythology, Oomphalos stone etc, Delphi was discussed andeveryone seemed to jump on a base in the Pleiades. Has anyone checked out Delphi Control Chapter by Pluto in Sol? (don't understand the new symbols yet, but think this is an installation rather than a tourist beacon). In Sol now, can look if requested.

edit: it's a Mother Gaia Security Installation
edit2: there's a crashed Anaconda on Charon with some cargo units + two shipping containers (couldn't land Tyko's Krait to check it out-landscape too rough) with a landed pirate FGS nearby.
