Player Agency & Wasted time at the Interstellar initiative

Just a quick thought, is a lockdown even possible at the moment?

I haven’t seen one in months, I thought they’d gone to the dustbin like the famine state.

That's a peculiar way of saying I think that I should be able to influence the game but not those whose playstyle I dislike!

Nope. I dont want to be able to muck up CGs for anyone either. As I clearly explain the discussion is about to which extend all of us should be allowed to influence the game. I want that to be less than you want it to be, in this case. Not sure why you insist on misrepresenting people you disagree with, or insult them.

I dislike his desire to dumb down the game.

That is just like, your opinion dude. It is also typical that you can't just disagree without calling another opinion 'dumbing down the game'. It is not as if what Ouberos wants is overly complex: a grind war with the price being the possibility to muck up a CG for thousands of people. 'Grind'+'lame'≠intelligent or deep gameplay.

Better than yours.

Here's how: what casual player wouldn't want to log in this weekend and discover the notorious pirate lord CMDR Ouberos had thrown Zende Partners into Lockdown putting the entire Bridging the Gap scheme into chaos!

Time to get your guns, mount up, and show these punks who's boss!

Oh wait. Garbage godmod.

How unfortunate. Better just go play something else with actual excitement and fun.

Have you considered that these casual players may not find that fun? Or even more basic: have you considered that what you think is fun may not be fun to others, in general? As in, different people like different things? So that the thing you don't like may be liked by others, and what may have you not play the game may actually cause others to have fun?

I know it sounds bizarre to some, but for some unfathomable reason people are perfectly able to have fun in ED without having to clean up the mess others make. They dont need your 'emergent content'. They dont need you to be the awesome protagonist.

I think it's pretty clear that you only want like-minded people to be able to influence the game.

If people want the II to succeed in the face of opposition, they'll fight for it to do so. If not, it wasn't worth a fig to begin with.

I've concluded you don't know what fun is.

For me that's just another case where the ambiguities of the game-design show through.

"It's a sandbox, you can blaze your own trail - except when you can't..."

Here's the deal, folks. Any ice hockey fans out there? The last game between the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks was one of the most exciting this year so far. The second period alone was just absurdly fun sport to watch.

But you know what? All anyone can talk about is the messed up referee call that ended the game. Even San Jose fans are saying they want to win, but not like that.

FDEV blew it here, plain and simple. At least the NHL has the presence of mind to bench the referees in question here for the rest of the playoffs.

Folks going against the OP's point here? I wish I could bench you too.

My point of view? I'd be happy about a lower security level so I could pirate those NPC's. High security is to rough for me to priate anything much, no single guardian artefact so far, only some gems and stuff... And I am here with an engineered Python.

get an wake scanner, manifest scanner and hatch breaker and follow them in nearby systems. all are anarchy
Yes, I just started to look what's going on. Private couriers don't seem to have CG stuff. Not really sure what to look for yet. Unfortunatly I don't have a recon-limpet, so I can't even raid the installation...

Use a hatch breaker on the cargo bays to raid the installation. Might be more trouble than it's worth, though. Some posters were saying installation cargo quantity was very low.

Recon limpets are only for engineering data.

uss convoy you need.
threat 0 means a T6-T7-T9 with 5 escorts, but it will eventually jump in a nearby system
threat different than 0 means a convoy that will get attacked. The T will jump out as soon the convoy get attacked

e.g. "I can't gank an entire CG. I'm not getting 'complleing gameplay'"

The entitlement is thick enough to cut with a chainsaw.

I know this is going to come as a shock, but here it is. (and not directed at anyone in particular)

... Other people's time is as valuable as yours is.

If stress testing the BGS at the expense of other players' time is your kink, let your freak flag fly high and proud, I suppose.

But can we please not pretend everyone puts down his/her money for the same thing?

or that this is all somehow doing FDEV a huge favor?

They didn't

and it isn't.

Now burn this post to ashes....!!!

Guess it doesn't work because I don't have a manifest scanner with me. I am just with hatch-breakers and wake-scanner. I hope I'll find some equipment nearby. And now I stop further derailing. Thanks for being helpfull!
The Prospect does sell manifest scanners. I picked one up there earlier.

The non-dockable megaships, of which there are a lot, don't have owners. They come under the temporary responsibility of the controlling faction of the system they enter, but are not technically owned by them.

This is almost certainly the way the Zende megaships work. They want to be able to stop any random faction in Zende taking them over and hitching a ride into Synuefe, which I imagine would definitely cause some issues. No reason to create a way for megaships to be tied to factions that hold other assets, when they can just hook it up to the same mechanism as those non-dockables where they fall under the controller's jurisdiction. We'll know for certain come Phase 3, anyway, as the status panel will show what asset of Zende they're defending.

Was Segnen's security/economy also reset?
Yes, which is why I'd expect a similar effect in Zende for all other factions. Otherwise, the security reset was entirely (besides ZP) localised on the CG system - the place in danger of Lockdown.

Why would they do that? This CG doesn't need to pass anyway - if it fails, Segnen can blame Zende for mismanagement of the system and claim that it would be better if they were in charge, then start the war that way. Sure, there then wouldn't be a Guardian Tech Broker at the outpost ... but that's not essential, and they've quite happily left stations with poor services after partly-complete CGs before.

Conversely, if they actually wanted it to pass, no chance of alternatives ... they could have set the tier 1 level much lower in the first place.

All true, but that doesn't mean Frontier see it the same way. That sort of adaptation was largely what I was hoping to see, but it sounds like they had nothing prepared.

Setting low tiers is a common tactic to ensure that CGs pass, but they appear to have forgotten to account for the fact that this isn't a normal CG, or they've VASTLY overestimated the number of people who would be interested in this. Maybe Tier 1 is low, relative to other trade CGs, but when your main method of gathering cargo is relogging in a SRV...yeah. Last I checked, still on one pixel of progress, and most people seem to be leaving after 20-30 tons.

Probably doesn't help that this wasn't explicitly advertised as a CG until after the megaship ferry had left, either.
