Quite on phase with the General Semantics. "The map is not the territory". The JPEG is not the ship. The (pre-)alpha is not a game.

Which wouldn't be effective at all on anyone who is paying attention to what is going on with the game.

The m50 is already available to buy in game for in game credits. If the Evocati stuff holds, the rest of the ships will be available in 3.6.

Ships available for in game purchase in 3.6 Evocati:

ships that basically you can't buy since long before you have grinded the money needed, they wipe everithing and you have to redo it all over again.

I wanted to talk about The Perils of Star Citizen’s Funding Model & Development It’s not my job to defend Star Citizen I do feel it gets a mix of both fair and unfair criticism tho. Because of it’s Development Style and Funding Model Currently I deem Star Citizen to be “Development as a Service” where the game is monetized towards funding it’s development with ship sales, quarterly releases, Roadmap updates and video updates so let’s talk about that as well with Development as a Service, My Problems of the Star Citizen Project.

The video blurb is particularly lolworthy. What is up with the weird capitalization?

Development as a service... it's like this is all going backwards.

They prey on the fear of missing out. Like if you don't buy, then that is it, you won't get one ever.

Oh come on, saying 'dont miss out!' is as generic a phrase when selling anything as it gets. This is really a textbook example of going out of your way to complain about something because you already made your mind up.

Err... I know we're at the point where I'm supposed to be the SC Fanboy Shillizen whipping boy for the thread, but thats not my post youre quoting.

Just because something stupid is done by everyone doesn't mean it's less nonsense

But then I would like Agony to publicly denounce the horrible and terrible practice of saying "don't miss out!" when others do it too. Like Frontier Developments. Otherwise you're simply selective at best, and a complete hypocrite at worst.

Which is a common thing here: the SC fanboys praise stuff that is common elsewhere, and the salty bois bash CIG for things they would otherwise never bring up if it concerned other companies.

The "you first!" tactic can't be applied when CIG put themselves in this corner when claiming as savior of PC gaming, arguing with The Pledge, and telling everyone they will not do what other mean devs and publishers do.

Are you suggesting CIG deserves the benefit of the doubt?
There’s a long list of dodgy practices you’ve decided to overlook.
Or are you just doubling down on your defensiveness because you’re deeply invested?

Lol, none of the above. But that is also another charming element: god forbid you don't spend every single word you ever type here bashing cig or you are 'one of them'.

But to answer your weirdly phrased question: all I am saying is "don't be a hypocrite. Even when it serves to bash CIG more."

Yes, a very controversial statement, I know.

I can only speak for myself, but I've never felt FOMO from FDev, ever. And yet every ship sale from CIG seems to reek of FOMO, like their current "Don't miss your chance" sale which ends in 3 days. FDev just doesn't seem to conduct themselves that way, or if they do it must have been under my radar. Happy to be shown examples if you have any.

Edit: Some of my opinion may be because I only think of FDev selling cosmetics, which in my case definitely flies under my radar. Whereas CIG are obviously selling assets which change the way their game is played, and arguably fall into the category of pay-to-win.

Sure CIG are the very definition of fair play and value for money.
What was I thinking?

I'd say "FOMO" is popular with tirple A right now. I'm referring to the staggered releases of MP, where bunch gets to play early and that is used as incentive, peer-group pressure and that.

My dear Mole, you'll notice the post in question wasn't directly attacking Star Citizen as well, which is tantamount to being a top tier backer with all the trimmings around these parts.

I'm fairly sure I'm only a few posts away from Agony Aunt offering to meet me in a car park below a wrestling event for a sword fight to determine which of the two projects is the one.

How about a game of tic tac toe?

The above linked post is odd to read. I submitted Bored's latest video to /r/StarCitizen to gather more discussion on the topic, yet all the comments are focused on BoredGamer himself, driven by a bunch of ad-hominems at him. A surprise to be sure, but not a welcome one.

Its not hate, its surprise reaction mechanics.

Goose does me an disservice anyway. I've got nothing against SC being a good game and a worthy alternative to ED or NMS or any other good space game out there. There is room for a dozen good space based games on the market and in my heart.

Its CR who seems opposed to actually making a good game :p
