Pffft. 1500+hrs? That's a nothing burger. I have some 2371 hours alone on Legacy Skyrim (original 2011 edition). And another 315 hours or so on Skyrim Special edition. At this point, my Dovahkin Stormcloak is Thane of all the provinces in Skyrim, has an entire museum dedicated to his life's work questing Skyrim/Tamriel, owns scores of livestock and horses, has a couple dozen castle sized manors, and acres of farmland/mines/business he'll be bequeathing to his six children as part of his vast estate. That's before factoring all the supernatural real estate in Oblivion and Sovengarde that he's earned for becoming the favorite minion of several Daedric Princes.

Not going to lie. Would be in nirvana if he could've procured a capital ship or two from a futuristic time travel quest into the bubble using some obscure/mystic Aetherius powered artifact. :geek:

So yeah, different genres but concept is the same. Players will play/grind/obsess for hours over a single gaming title because they can't help their addiction

45 hrs gametime to transition between ship tiers isn't too bad IMO.

Agree.

However, its a tricky one. I feel like during testing they should make things easy to get. I understand if you subscribe (ie: give CIG more money) you get free access to different ships from time to time.

And of course,if they gave everyone easy access to ships now, then they would get used to it and by release expect the same. Imagine testing for years and jumping into whatever ship took your fancy only for on release to have to grind for ships.

Unfortunately though, the whole buisness revolves around trying to get people to give them money for acess to ships, and that means any changes that reduces the incentive to pay for access could hurt their bottom line.

No thank you. While I like the ED ships, they don’t compare to the ships in SC.

No, they don't.

Unfortunately, I'm an engineer. While the SC ships look nice, their functional designs are mind-jarringly bad. I see vertical thrusters angled towards one another, reducing efficiency greatly and threatening to tear the ship apart. I see VTOL thrusters placed only at the aft, which would make the ship an uncontrollable spinning top.

Unfortunately I can't unsee these things. And since you are comparing to ED, I note almost no issues of this kind with ED ships.

Two things actually impress me with Star Citizen. The multi-cannons and how each cockpit of each ship is different and unique with different huds. I feel like Elites global hud is a blessing and a curse and definitely hurts the illusion of scale between bigger and smaller ships having it that way, at least in non VR play.

I'm not an engineer and all of the SC ships just look so flimsy as well. Yes, I know that it's a soft-Scifi trope (Star Wars, etc) but as far as 'realism' is concerned? Nope. ED's ships are - arguably - a bit on the chonky side but I'd not want to bounce around interstellar space in something that wasn't properly built!

If it didn't lack of Freespace, I-War 2 or any of the X series, or even Star/Freelancer, I'd say it clearly sound as a petty spade at CIG.

They aren’t going to cease selling ships for real world money any time soon. And it seems likely they will continue this trend for the ongoing future of this project.
This bases the grind on finding a sweet spot to extract the maximum amount of revenue from the player base. And limits what a player can experience in a reasonable timeframe without paying the stupidly high prices set by CIG.
It’s important to remember that the prices were set under the kickstarter “support the project!” ethos.
They’ve been gently warming the water,so it seems normal to the backers. Expecting new players to dip their toe into this boiling mess seems unlikely, especially when all the competition is charging reasonable prices.
At the glacial pace of development there’s a real danger of being overtaken by the competition. And considering they are currently way behind the competition the future is looking pretty bleak.

Its a strange list. However, great link since i've discovered Endless Space 2 thanks to it. Looks like a modern Masters of Orion. Going to check it out, and on sale at the moment on Steam!

Endless doesnt have tjhe detailed ship building tho. It also dint fall in the trap of 3D rt space combat resoluution. You get very decent game in high quality art and wrapped with exceptional soundtrack (FlybyNo). Still looking for a worthy MoO heir - then again, I played MoO2 this year and its age really showed.

Got it now. Maybe will get some hours of fun out of it.

Huh, looks like the P72 I pledged in 2015 is finally under development.
However, I cannot find where to melt it down to transfer the LTI to another ship.

I've always called this a scam, and against better judgement, bought a basic package right before they split the 2 games out. There's nothing that has changed my mind, but I'm out $40 for the games, and $30 for the P72+LTI.

You don't melt to transfer the LTI to another ship, you upgrade the p72:

What?

Ok, take a step back and think about this. Currently ZDF host these events by taking over a server and controlling what other people do should they come across them. Take a look at some of the vids as to what happens should a random wander into the middle of them.

Now, assuming CIG can fix their networking and make it so that potentially hundreds are sharing a server/instance, they won't be able to dominate the server. There will be more randoms coming across them. Now, this is an online game, so there will be griefers and gankers (whose behaviour i do not condone), but also just people who are not like that, but they come across a group of people all stood around saluting Rex while he parades up and down shouting and shouting about their mission and stuff.

Now, you tell me, you came across that sort of scene, and you just happened to have a grenade on you, you wouldn't be tempted to lob the grenade into the middle of them and watch the chaos?

I'm by no stretch of the imagination a griefer or a ganker, but even i'd find that funny as hell. Now just imagine what will happen if it is a griefer.

I guess consider this your open invitation to stream snip him:
