I pirate people legitimately and I see people get griefed and its unfortunate but it's the state of the game and how would you fix this issue without causing another issue. You can't just report people because they killed you in a game which permits you to do so if you choose. The only exploit I see is the people who combat log especially those who are not new to pvp. I'm not just talking about the trader who clogs on me I'm talking about the bad guys who log if they lose in a fair fight so realistically this problem will never get fixed. And I'm not talking about Elite Dangerous. Well, I am, but the title is inspired by griefers in Overwatch, a team-based PvP game with no friendly fire. I've grown sick of trying to place in competitive matches, only to have "team" mates throw the match. Last night was just another example of some yahoo on our team who would run up to the enemy and then trigger their dancing emoji, thus dying over and over again. Despite being a very slight distraction, we had an unbalanced 5 vs 6 match. I've seen worse where a couple of buddies join and throw the match together, making it a 4 or even 3 vs 6 match. Unfortunately our ranking is based on TEAM performance, so no matter how good I play, these other idiots completely ruin competitive mode. I've pretty much given up on it.
What does this have to do with Elite? As I said, Overwatch is a game that should be free of griefers (no friendly-fire). But where there is a will, there is a way. At least in Elite, most griefers are playing within the rules of the game. I know what to expect when I go to ShinDez or Deciat, and we have a variety of ways to work around griefers. In Overwatch, my only option is to report them, and I've reported so many that I wonder if Blizzard even takes me seriously anymore. With this in mind, my opinion is "in flux" regarding whether Frontier should do more to stop griefing in ED. I think I'd rather be shot at using legitimate PvP gameplay than to have griefers blocking landing pads or flying in front of me as I try to shoot bad guys or any other of the unconventional griefing I see in almost every other PvP game. Maybe this is why Battle Royal is so popular - it's hard to be screwed over by teammates when it's a team of one.
BTW, this is just focusing on the ability to shoot other CMDRs in ED, not PvP balance, ramming exploits, and the other things many of us consider broken in the game.
Take the rebuy money from the griefers account.I pirate people legitimately and I see people get griefed and its unfortunate but it's the state of the game and how would you fix this issue without causing another issue. That is why I got so salty about Palin being removed six weeks ago.For my money, Frontier have actually made it worse - although I don't know what they could do about it now. Back when the game first launched it was very well balanced. If you had a sidewinder and were bounced by a top-tier ship if you made the right decisions and had a half-way sensible build you could escape - albeit with some damage. Now the engineered weapons, special effects and gangs of griefers mean you basically can't. It's literally a one-shot kill on lighter ships with well-engineered weapons.
I know FD do complain that people don't want to participate in their community goals, but honestly it's because of this ridiculous state of affairs.

Would that be the state of affairs that the CG participants not in Solo are largely just a group of live targets for "emergent" gamers? For my money, Frontier have actually made it worse - although I don't know what they could do about it now. I have found them to be very predictable. A bunch are hanging around Wyrd this morning, obvious as can be. If I see them when I jump into the system, I just drop out of SC and either high wake back out of the system or switch to Solo to get my work done. There are no smart griefers.
Combat logging and Menu logging by griefers are certainly detectable by Frontier servers. Folks who play honestly do not take advantage of this exploit. Frontier should monitor these events and if an account is flagged for excessive disconnects, this account would then be placed into a special "Private Group" mode called "Frontier Restricted" for a period of time and are not allowed to play in Open or any other established Private Group until the player has completed a tour of service in this restricted PG group and then agreed (in some form of digital signature) to an "Acknowledgment of Frontier's Terms of Service". Violations beyond this would result in an account suspension for a period of time.
Until Frontier takes a more aggressive posture on griefing, players will be forced to use Solo or PG for the sake of safe gameplay, or just put up with these events. Frankly, I am dismayed at having to use Solo or PG because of the actions of a few who feel entitled to ruin the gaming experience of the larger community and the new player base.
Yes, I have heard the arguments for the "get gud" positon, but no matter how gud you are, griefers are just a nucience to all, especially the new players Frontier wants to engage.
The new player experience should also include a video produced by Frontier advising new players of what actions to expect from griefers and how to report them if a new player experiences such actions while learning the game.
Sorry this is thread for commanders not kids.Funny thing about griefers: I never come across them in Solo.
Then why you post childish things like that here?Sorry this is thread for commanders not kids.
I would not consider my comment above childish. Then why you post childish things like that here?![]()
Then you would be wrong.I would not consider my comment above childish.
