Rustle of tin-foil....right I'm ready...

Just visited a system where the last GG & 1st moon were mapped by 'Psiren Farseer', had a tourist beacon as well but that was 'recommended' by a Commander.

Is Psiren Farseer a player or a clue? Felicity talks about getting you out into the 'void' and now maybe an offspring is called 'Psiren'? Im on Xbox so have limited scope to check players, can anyone check if these people are real or Fdev planted?

Is the Commander who recommended the Tourist spot real or is that a plant?

I dont know whats real any more.

Psiren Farseer not shown for PC.

Only just realised that if you do not surface probe (oooh er mrs) rings around stars they do not register as discovered.
I was messing about and decided to scan a ring around a Brown Dwarf - came up as discovered new steller object (with hotspots).
So, what if the Dark Wheel is not just a rubbish name from a 1984 free novella?
What if the Dark is a dull star, low luminosity.
And the Wheel is a ring around it?
And in that ring is a space station (signal only discoverable if you surface scan the ring around the star a bit like hotspots)?
And that space station is the Dark Wheel home?
Then I sobered up.
Seriously though, has this been explored as an option?

Makes sense

I often thought the DW was an asteroid belt but the continuing lore is of a disused space station so I keep it on the back burner

think the system was Col 285 Sector VU-M c8-1 but not 100% sure as not in game, can check and edit if wrong. was a weird system in that iirc all of them had been discovered by same person then A4 & A4a were mapped by Psiren Farseer but no others, most including A1 & A2 and moons were mapped by same person and A4 2-4 were mapped by same person. So Farseer seemingly went straight for the A4 & A4a only, wondered if it was dev testing the mapping gear out for example or whether it could be anything. One day Ill learn how to post screenshots from XBox.

Felicity Farseer’s wiki says she’s based at her father’s manufacturing facility, but no mention of his name.

Damn ..russian is translated in multiply, like "the grief of the fathers". In russian that may mean grief of all prev generation who are fathers for current one.

For 1 parent there are plenty of myths. For example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ursa_Major - there are mother & son there.
Looking at this from greek myth.. The epitome of parents grief is the story of niobe. The epitome of lovers woe would be pyrramus and thisbe. - Another way would be to look at going to the underworld... For parents grief we have persephone and the reason for the seasons. For lovers woe.. Orpheus failing to rescue eurydice. What do all these have in common?... Death

That and the recent article make me believe that if i had to asign locations to segments of the toast...parents grief and lovers woe would be tionisla to me.

There is more detail in this spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eu30UyjpQrWexAglwD1Ax_GaDz4d7l8KD76kSzX4DEk/edit#gid=0

This is a user submitted tourist beacon, so the text is a player's wording. The notes don't mention why he/she/it/they called it that:

0016Celestial GemCD-39 6137TOURISTSeries 1User Submitted0016.pngThis minor system in notable only because of its early membership of the Alliance, joining in 3232. This membership granted the colonists significant technological improvement on their existing lot.

<Edit: looks like the text is wrong in the spreadsheet - the picture link shows the correct text.. >

The Beacon numbers go in sets as they were populated. There are quite a few missing beacons in this list, so clearly there is more stuff to be found and a block of them are in the Elite History section. Seems likely that this supports the theory that some of the existing permit locked systems can be unlocked if only we can work out how. Or else the remaining Lore beacons are not in populated or explored bubble systems..

Beacon Number RangeTypeNotes
0001-0112User submittedMany not found (they are widespread in the galaxy)
0113-0251Elite History (Lore)Completely discovered
0252? could be lore or user?not found
0253-0648User SubmittedMostly found - a few may be misidentified..
0649-0715Elite History (Lore)A block from 0650-0663 are not found

I have a couple of questions for those who were in game at the start:
  • When were Tourist Beacons added?
  • When was the request for user submitted beacons and when were they included?
If they weren't in game for Gamma then you wouldn't need them to find R. as originally implemented. Of course its possible the codex refers to them as part of the retconn.

The system is in the blue nebula NGC3132. The system has a Y star with 8 'moons' - if you accept Y's as gas giants...

May be worth a look, just to be sure :)

I might be going space crazy, but what if clue number 1 on the trail is right under our noses:

Venus is the brightest planet in the night sky from earth. You could say its the jewl that burns brightest.
In the legend of Tanhauser, Venus constantly whispers in his ear. In greek mythology, some believed Aphrodite (Venus) a siren, rather than a goddess.
After her son (Aeneas) died, she was so grief stricken, she asked Jupiter to make him immortal. Aeneas wife (Creusa) begged him not to return to the fight in Troy, saving his life

I know that above, I am overlapping Greek and Roman mythology, but Venus and Aphrodite are usually considered the same being, told from different angles.

So I am thinking, Venus, in Latin, means lucifer, or morning star. In Sirius, we have the planet Lucifer. I know its well explored and there is even an engineer there, but Sirius also ties in nicely with ED lore, and the ability to cover things up. Even the club used them, didn't they?
