How big is the money problem really?

Yeah, I'd love to see a percentage that's more up to date. Even if it is just from EDSM/INARA API connected CMDRs.

The quote i posted comes from the admin of Inara.
So it is based on all registered Inara commanders, but it was taken at the end of August. And it reflects only credits not assets.
Maybe it is worth to point out that End of August is quite close after the Carrier announcement.

Frontier have for years taken a stance of not being well endowed when it comes to setting any sort of progression system in elite dangerous. Every single thing they've introduced that is enough to show on the radar has been cut down to insignificance so.. until we see evidence otherwise, my guess would it be the cost will come in below expectations.

The last time money was at all a concern for my CMDR was in late 2015 when he still had to choose between Corvette and Cutter. This was back when maxing out naval rank was easier than getting a billion credits, and credits were still too easy to get.
That happened to me; the agonising choice between Corvette and Cutter. I chose Cutter because I was helping with station repairs at the time. Once you've got the Cutter, the Corvette is paid for quickly though. After that you can have whatever you want. :)

As we *all run around worrying about money for a certain new ship that may be arriving in December I thought I'd ask how much of an issue is it, if it is billions to buy? Is there a list of CMDRs fortunes, maybe a published average of CMDRs current money on hand? If you're **mega rich let us know in the space below!?

*all = not the entire community, see "some" or "select few".
** mega rich = make the "rich" seem poor.
We need a Forbes ranking of the 500 biggest fortunes.

:)

Those % figures surprise me if accurate, especially post-VO.
Remember that:
- the figures don't include ships, it's just current credit balance. Someone could have an entire A-rated fleet of every ship twice and a few hundred million in spare cash, and would appear in the bottom category.
- once you have a spare billion in credits, unless you have an expensive PvP habit, you don't really have any use for extra money
- not everyone likes mining so much that they'll do it even if they don't need the money for anything.

They're obviously only of Inara-registered commanders, but that's more likely to skew rich than poor since the player who bought the game, flew around for a couple of weeks in their Freewinder, bought a Cobra, then went to do something else probably never registered.

I don't think the money flowing easily is the problem, the problem is that earning cash via any other means except the current "most efficient means" results in ppl just grinding that activity, rather than all means of making money forming an natural ecosystem.

Opal mining should result in piracy, should result in bounty hunting and so on.

As it is, apart from the initial activity of building a mining capable ship, opal mining is relatively risk free (with NPC interdiction not being a thing, and for PvP to be non-existent) so it becomes a grind with limited game play.

No intention of chasing credits for the new ships which kinda sums up my years since prem beta.
Whether you have the credits or not when they arrive I fear there will be a fourth currency to fuel them anyway.

depends on people's resistance to grinding.
For example i'm alternating deep core with laser mining and with running missions.

What problem? There is no problem afaik, Cr. are there to, in no parotuclar order, 1. cover insurance cost 2. afford other ships 3. afford modules for ships 4. increase reputation and influence quickly by donating

Did I miss anything? Apart from that, Cr. serve no function.

there will be no money problem, cause it won´t coast that mutch, mabe up to 1 bill max,
If you cry ofer money and don´t have the most of the ships A rated, why should u have a fleet carrier.
I don´t like that i wan´t to be "god" as fast as possible attitude.

I've timed "double painite" at 100M per 50 minutes, (Python).

There's probably something suboptimal about your build or procedure if that's all you're getting.

In an optimised laser-mining build, you should be able to earn Cr200m per hour (give or take) mining Painite.

This gold rush is because Frontier wont tell the players how much the Fleet Carriers will cost. FOMO (fear of missing out) is what is driving people to mine as much credits as possible. It looks good on Fdev metrics in both engagement and number of players in game that wouldn't be there otherwise. Smart move on their part in not telling us and wont expect them to until days before release of the December update.
