Standard caveats: It’s a very buggy pre-alpha with various operational issues. (Years of over-promise, absurd roadmap delays, a burn rate that required angel investment to keep them going, ongoing court case etc). It’s very likely to end up as a P2W model, and essentially fits that bill now.

Some people have fun between the bugs though. If you want to future-proof your experience, buy an Idris

Idrises are for the wannabe rich. At the minimum you need a Javelin. But really, if you want to be anybody in the 'verse. you've got to go all in with a Legatus pack for 27,000. Although, as i recall, they've released a bigger one now, over 30k right?

Well, even if you rent and upgrade or buy and upgrade, it all gets wiped every few weeks or months and you're only left with what you have given $$$ for.

I made the mistake of dreaming the game would ever be released ....

The new Legatus pack is $35000 now, and you need to have spent $10000 to even see it in the store.

Mole, I take it back, It must have been Sqn 42 I had looked at, I'm not a fan of movie sequences in game.
I've just watched a couple of your videos on youtube and SC does look good.
I might even buy into now and see for myself what the game is really like.

Wait until the next free-fly event, during which you can test it out completely free.

Well, they have 500+ people walking back goals and focusing on sales to achieve development they claimed they already had enough funding to finish in the first place, and everything will be earnable in-game so... go suck an egg! (And please buy an Idris.)

Meanwhile I disagree: we share very informative posts here, and many of us - especially Mole and Sovapid - give very descriptive commentary of the current game.

I beg to differ. Its overly negative because thats what the project is at this time....overly disappointing and not even coming close to what was sold back in 2012. Its possible to find some good in it and those posts are on here as well its just that their ratio compared to all the ugly and bad stuff happening reflects the state of the game.

So much to do, hardly anything done but hey...it LOOKS good eh? Thats gonna be worth 1000 bucks or more.

Yes and no. It is largely one sided and it is largely negative/mocking but it is also informative. If you only wanted affirming information then it's probably not the place for you but there's various echo chambers for those in need of safe spaces.

If negativity is what you want to see, its what you will see. If tho you actually browse through our SC topics you will see many insightful posts and few members who are actually actively playing the alpha and gives very honest impressions.
I look at (yes I`m this bored ) both RSI forums and this one and I honestly find the posts here to be way more objective.

One sided? So, you dismiss the opinions of not just the skeptics but also those who play SC and are backers and enjoy the game (to some extent at least)?

I won't patronise you by spelling out the pitfalls and negatives...of which there are many. I've no doubt however that there are some here that will try

Star Citizen for all it's faults as well as CiG`s mismanagement and dodgy business practises is very easy to like for many reasons, visually it's quite pretty and the things that do work, work reasonably well....as does the predatory marketing

Go in with an open mind (and not an open wallet) if you do and enjoy what there is...Avoid making the obvious comparisons with any other game with spaceships if you can.

Latest video - I'm barely 12 minutes in and already given up.

CI-G repeatedly demonstrate that they have absolutely no clue what procedural generation even is, let alone how to utilise it. 100 systems at launch indeed.

heh - it was more the overall context:

1) CiG Lots of stuff delayed from 3.8 and 3.9 +
2) RSI Forums very negative about game progress
3) Mole posts a vid having the usual bumble around
4) Random shows up and buys an Idris*

* well, ok, probably not an Idris, but not what I would have expected from the context - shows the power of nice graphics
