Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Do take time to enjoy the amenities. Rumor has it that if you collect all bins you can gain access to the bar underneath, which rises from beneath where the volleyball court used to be like thunderbird island. They wont actually let you in until the glyphs are inserted in the right order ( a kind of musical composition on which your preferences are somehow encoded, so that as you enter, everything is as you would have it, which in turn can sometimes lead to 'interesting' interactions with other patrons, who have somewhat conflicting views).
Or just enjoy the views.:)

Thing is, you travel with that slouch of a ship to an engineer, and yes, you could have used third party tools to check that before, but you did not, so on arrival you can go to Grade 2 only of your desired module because you are low on that --curses like a docker -- stuff, so you pin the --curses even worse-- stuff only to learn later that the pin did not stick to the -- curses so hard that tapestry curls up in shame -- board, and I am not goin to have that --you know the drill-- stuff going to happen again..... Ufff. ;)

Apart from that, good --suppresses curse-- moonring, ahem, morning.

To whom it may be helpful:

4 encoded Materials available at Jameson are:

Grade 5 & 4

lower grade

On each relog they spawn at variable rates. First bin to be full will be 100 Grade 5 AEC's, but if all your encoded are on the very low side, like in my case, it make sense to continue the relog until 150 Grade 4 AEA's are full as well, then make the trip to Diaguandri for exchange. The lower grades too will fill up on 3-4 full cycles, which I then used to trade too, which speeds up the process.

The rolling canisters can notch the SRV out of place once in a while, even with handbrake, just re position the SRV and continue drinking chateau Picard.

I do not bother to collect the canisters of variable stuff spawning, I would do it, if the SRV had surface collecting limpets, but such do not exist.

Can't add anything, that's exactly what I do, but sometimes I use 'Bug Killer' site for a change. (y)

Yeah, useful for the very rare raw materials indeed. Side note: To think that a year ago or so, I had not even a drag drive or engineered FSD in my Python.... not single engineered module, only escaping interdictions. Pheew.... It's been a long way. Now I always hope to get interdicted, ideally by Condas, might just bring a ton of Gold along for fun next time. LOL

Can I suggest that the Wiki links for those are not particularly useful / comprehensive, the INARA pages for each are much more useful. The page for AEC for example:

and for AEA:

Note how much useful information / links are available.

INARA is a remarkable resource, especially considering it is the work of one person I understand. It is my go-to for all things Engineering for example. (y)

P.S. At the crashed Cobra I have never had to reposition, if you sit in the right place and stick on the handbrake then you never actually get dislodged.

So one of my CMDRs made it out to the Jellyfish Nebula - c5077ly out from the bubble, enough to unlock Palin and the Witchhead Engineer whose name escapes right now...

Only four jumps to go...

BOOM!

Got about 7 million just for scooping and honking (and FSSing that one un-charted system I fell into).

Took about three hours, jump range 30ly, 169 (ish) jumps.

So now I gotta spend all afternoon doing that D&D prep I didn't do yesterday like I was supposed to :ROFLMAO:

Weird! All of the sudden the data scanner would not work. I thought the button on the controller crapped out on me, so I changed the controller, still the same. Fire group? Check. Module health? Check. Hold on... what? All modules priority set to 3. Who the Hell? Changed all back to 1. Still button no response. Re-logged. No response. Left game, re started game. All working.

Smells like a bug of some kind.

I too get the code - Taupe Cobra - twice a day at minimum now since 3 days. Adjudication server error

I'm beginning to enjoy open more and more. If I fly around in the Vuture called "Little Walter" (after the blues harp player that died after a street fight), nobody seems to want to meet the frags. Instead I was flying around outside Jameson in the Reckless Eagle when I saw this CMDR in an extremely cüül Courier, mat black with yellow exhausts, and tried to follow him around and through all the loops of Jameson. I wish we could do some sort of racing supported by the game. Like a deserted station or installation with a timed lap, or even better with races against other CMDRs, maybe even allowing a little help from hardpoints etc.

When you have mined as much as I have, and I guess most of you have as well, then a rebuy isn't a problem. All the fun open adds to the ED experience, because real people are crazy and NpCs are not, is all worth it :)

At the moment, two huge gimballed beams and five turreted MCs. Point defence, chaff. Loads if shield boosters, and as much hull and module reinforcement as possible.

What's your preference pew pew or dakka dakka dak?

Ahem 👀 ....Roflmao, hard to believe the stuff you type at times.
By far, my favorite seems to be Rapid Fire Screening Shell Frags, which I guess goes in the dakka category. They seem to be more efficient than Incendiaries, but they use ammo very quickly. Even without Incendiary, they rip shields to pieces. Compared to MCs, frags almost seems OP, but since they fit my favorite combat style (In your face!), I won't ask for a nerf ;)

I do not have any statistics on this (yet), but when I compare the time it takes to kill a NpC in a Mamba with 1 huge, 2 large and 2 small MCs, with the time it takes in a Vulture with 2 large frags, then it seems much more efficient with the frags. More than twice as fast. I might have to flip out a spreadsheet on this. I might also have to compare with some pew in the form of Beam Lasers.

:) Thanks!

That they rip through shields quicker makes sense.

Fragment cannon
  • Ammo / per clip: 90 / 3
  • Against Shields: 0 1 2 3 [4] 5 6
  • Against Hull: 0 1 2 3 4 [5] 6
  • Power Draw: 0 [1 2] 3 4 5 6
  • Heat Generation: 0 [1] 2 3 4 5 6
Multicannons
  • Ammo / per clip: 2 100 / 90
  • Against Shields: 0 [1] 2 3 4 5 6
  • Against Hull: 0 1 2 3 4 [5] 6
  • Power Draw: 0 [1] 2 3 4 5 6
  • Heat Generation: 0 [1] 2 3 4 5 6
Very interesting in comparison:

It would be an even more devastating build, but a serious challenge to design due to heat generation and power draw. I think I am going to try a pure Plasma Vulture. with good PIP management and a targeted engineering, A rated lightweight life support, and life support switched off during battle ( I tried that before and like that "muted darth vader atmosphere" during battle. It's fun, you should try, and 25 minutes is a long time to go.) this could be possible.

Plasma accelerator

From what I've experienced playing with frags, adding Incendiary will remove the shield more quickly (ofcurz), but they become a lot more dull towards the hull. In the Vulture (with rapid fire screening shell), I can take down the shield of a decent NpC (like an Elite medium size combat ship) in a few shots, literally! I sometimes get kind of surprised how fast it goes. Bam-bam- shields down. Often with one third of the hull gone in the shot taking the last of the shield.

I'm not good enough to use fixed weapons efficiently, but I have tried to hit enemy ships with both PAs and Rails, and they are good when you hit, but not so good that I thought that I had to learn to use them after ~5000 hours of missing the target. In the hands of a true ace, they can take out a PP pretty quickly.

I lost the Vulture in a PvP fight yesterday because something strange caused my frags not to fire (OH?), so I had to retract and pull them back out a couple of times. In that time, more than enough to have taken the chicken exit, the opponent managed to blast my PP. Then I tried to reboot it for quite some time before I was finally blown to a rebuy screen. PvP is fun, but I still haven't won one single fight. I had an Elite dude down to 30% hull the other day, so I guess it will happen sooner or later, and thou should never underestimate the thrill and joy of expectation ;)

Open play....one of these days.... one of these days.... :)
It scared me a lot for a long time, and it's definitely more dangerous than solo, but if you don't go stupid like me, accepting any interdiction and staying for the snuggle, then I would say that it's a lot safer than I had anticipated. If you fly a paper plane explorer it might be slightly more hazardous.
