Which limitations specifically are you talking about? Because I agree with some, disagree with others. What is common sense about the primary development focus being how to limit players instead of properly help them flourish

Have you considered that other people are also passionate about this game, but have different preferences?
You call it fear, I call it common sense.
Wot now?
Yeah, but they are other people. There is only one me, and that is I: me. Surely you can agree that you and everybody else is just, well, a not-me. At best.
The problem being that "the player base" rather obviously don't all want the same things. To be unable to produce meaningful content to satisfy that player base?

The issue is the running theme that features don’t function cohesively with previous ones and/or don’t actually add value or functionality. im not getting into a case by case list with you because your opinion has no value to me. I’m stating these issues here on this forum on the off chance these discussions are reviewed by fdevWhich limitations specifically are you talking about? That being the case, Frontier then need to decide which features considered for development benefit as many players as possible.
It's about talking in absolutes.Common sense? To have a game that people barely play? To be unable to produce meaningful content to satisfy that player base? An interesting point of view indeed.

Exactly what is it this 'player base' desires so desperately in terms of meaningful content? Could you enlighten me as I believe I may play this game occasionally and have failed miserably in finding it lacking in meaningful content.Common sense? To have a game that people barely play? That rather depends on ones perspective.Been failing at that for years.
It is rather good, isn't it.The saving grace has always been the near flawless flight model and incredible galaxy.
Which again rather depends on ones perspective. As soon as player realize there is nothing to actually do with it, they leave or just drop in from time to tjme.
This guy is really sensitive. This is the point of a forum. Bring YOUR point of view to forefront. Stop attacking people on a personal level. Attack their argument by providing a valid one.
This perfectly illustrates how diverse are the things that the player base want. I accept what you say and I'm sure you have good reasons for praising the flight model. However, for me the flight model is the most annoying, unrealistic, immersion-breaking feature of the game. I've previously called it "flying spaceships in magic treacle".Been failing at that for years. The saving grace has always been the near flawless flight model and incredible galaxy. Surely you agree that games need to have limitations. You need a framework and obstacles, otherwise it wouldn't be a game. That to me is common sense.
Where you place the line, we will probably differ in opinion. But you cannot claim that were your wishes fullfilled, the playerbase would be satisfied.

Even if FD only had us two to satisfy, they would still find it impossible!
What is meaningful?...
Elite protects and prevents players from any sort of interaction. Unwanted yes. But meaningful as well.
Why the hell.do you.play this?
I see no other redeeming qualities.
Maybe you can explain what content you find meaningfulExactly what is it this 'player base' desires so desperately in terms of meaningful content? Could you enlighten me as I believe I may play this game occasionally and have failed miserably in finding it lacking in meaningful content.
When I mentioned that I may play occasionally, what I truly mean is that I have in excess of 3,000 hours played... Would I be doing that if the game was quite so lacking? Maybe I perceive things in the game differently to your vision, it is quite possible, and that what you may consider meaningful content may, to me, be a heap of fetid dingo's kidneys awaiting consumption?
I applaud your passion in the game completely, no facetious there, but, as this is not a player designed or modded game, the developers are literally forced to take the middle ground in design to provide 'meaningful content' for the mythical 'average' player, which is why I enjoy what we have while others feel limited by what we don't have.
(notice the distinct lack of Ad Hominem and Strawman in the presentation?)
