VR support 'not at launch' for Odyssey

Also people seem a bit confused about the new update. Let me clarify it for you...

THERE IS NO VR SUPPORT ON RELEASE.

That means VR won't work. No flying in VR until you land and swapping controllers and all that nonsense. There is no VR.
It'll probable be more like: no VR until you stop playing, reboot the game with the Odyssey launcher option and then land and walk around a bit in pancake mode crying bitter tears with every step you take without depth perception.

Hah, I’m a glass half-full kinda guy thanks ;). Fully hydrated, and happily perusing the VR games I’ll be playing over the coming months and years.

But the thing about chippy optimistic people is, they’re always convinced they can change the world ;)

I’m afraid your trite 'stop talking about this thing I don’t care about' postings will do nothing to inhibit myself and others from pushing for our promised land wherever possible ;)
Hey, if someone doesn't like what's posted in this here thread they can always, you know, not read them and get on with their lives.

just a suggestion of course ;)

But your analagy suggests you know what's going to be in this dlc... you don't, so how can you understand what kind of VR experience it may offer?

Also, isn't that a bit like saying, well they support XBOX one, so they should always support it for all future DLC on sequals or whatever. That kind of limits the potential, one day nobody will be using the Xbox one.

I actually have a VR headset for what it's worth, I was amongst the first people to put ED VR on Youtube

I don't think anyone is saying "shut up", just that isn't it a bit more reasonable to wait, see what the gameplay actually is, and let them do it properly rather than demand that they slap in something half baked at launch or demand that they back peddle on two years of work and go back to the design stage?
We do know what's in this new DLC: more content, content we can't access in VR, content we've been waiting for for years.

The ONLY hope players who have zero interest in playing out of VR but want access to the new features have is to let FD know in no uncertain terms they won't support the game.. it's a long shot... But it's worked before (sometimes for better sometimes not imo) but it really is shi. Or bust for me as the saying goes so I may as well go all in, as have a few others.
Yeah, I'm not sure how much leverage we'll have. This decision was probably made a long time ago (probably around the time that David made the less than glowing remarks about the state of VR, and certainly with hindsight it seems that the removal of prominent mention of it on the revamped website was tactical). It appears to me that they've deliberately chosen to exclude VR players in their development path, and have factored in the hit. It could have been otherwise, but this was a calculated sacrifice in my view. Perhaps I'm wrong, but they've had plenty of time and resources to throw at it and would probably avoid antagonizing VR players unnecessarily, so if it was coming it would be there at launch in my opinion. Rip the VR plaster off now :(. I've spent every second of my 2500+ hours playing in VR, so they must know that there's little chance of players like me hanging around.

As much as it pains me to say, I would at least like the option to play in VR and when I have to get out my ship for FPS, take my headset off and instantly switch to the screen with a keyboard and mouse. Even 2D in the VR headset with a k+m would be okay for me.

Please Frontier...don't shut us out. Let us give you our money lol

I would be more than happy for this at launch.
