You're welcome.

I too would be happy with using my Xbox controller, but if there was a virtual stick throttle and being able to use the side panels with touch controllers, depending on implementation I would likely never touch my hotas again and wouldn't want to use voice attack. I want to touch those buttons and use the holographic displays with my hand, I would love that and give me a reason to spend money on getting touch controllers. But having an option to just use your controller/hotas should also be there too.As far as I'm concerned Elite already works well enough in VR, All I would need in Odyssey is controller suppord for the leg bits and I'm a happy puppy. I really wouldn't want to give up my HOTAS and for most of the side panel stuff I already use voice attack.
They just said it won't be at launchJeez. I've been away form ED for probably about 2 years now, but as a LEP holder I was wondering if this new expansion would entice me back in. Today's Non VR announcement means I DEFINATELY won't be coming back......but to be honestly I'm not surprised.
The last word was Tuesday morning. They'll tell us more nearer release.Still no word from Frontier on VR?
I dug out the VR headset to play ED after this new update (I want to experience my first FC in VR), and I have to say, ED in VR is way better than ED in 2D, IMO. When I'm playing ED in 2D, I'm wishing I was playing Space Engineers instead (and a few minutes later I usually am). When I play ED in VR, I'm wishing SE had VR, LOL.
I sure do hope Frontier not only gives us flying in VR in Odyssey, but also any "casual" walking around - like walking into these bars and taxi depots, walking around exploring a planet on foot, etc. If NMS, Subnautica, Skyrim VR, Fallout VR, etc can make it work in games originally designed for 2D, surely Frontier can if they want to.
Seems like some want VR added regardless of circumstances. What if the reason it's not currently included is that they can't get it to work without compromising gameplay features? Or can't yet make it VR-noob friendly. Or a bunch of other game-breaking stuff?
The only facts we have on the the topic right now is that it won't be included at launch, anything else is mere speculation at this point. Yes, before anyone says it again, I'm aware of FDev's reputation when it comes to marketing, but that's fuel for the speculation, not fact.
I see you are gravitating towards the cause and now realise how important VR is, you had previously expressed opinions along the lines of VR would be good, but you could do without it for walking, now you seem to agree that first person gameplay will also be enhanced by VR. I've long been a proponent of Space legs, and atmospheres, but while I wanted them both, I wanted them in that order, and with VR. I'm delighted with the headline features of Odessy, but devastated that it currently looks like, unless things change, that I'll never get to experience walking through these stations in VR.I dug out the VR headset to play ED after this new update (I want to experience my first FC in VR), and I have to say, ED in VR is way better than ED in 2D, IMO. I was really disappointed to see the carrier ship kits were regurgitated versions of the "support ships" assets from the initial unveiling of carriers. The fact we only have one carrier and not multiple variants, and that one variant is 18 months later than the original inception of multiple task specific varients were promised is bad, but it almost seems like they are mocking us with the invite to "use real world cash to buy arx to buy these regurgitated assets from gameplay we promised you but failed to deliver".It isn't a question of practicality; It is entirely possible. NMS was a masterclass of how to use touch controllers for VR. They managed that with their small dev team and they still don't have any paid DLC or expansions.
Frontier can't be bothered to support VR, that is the bottom line. If they could then they would demonstrate it by committing to it. What we are getting is ambiguous platitudes because they hope(ed) people wouldn't care so they could save a few quid ditching VR support.
Why spend time devoting development on actual features when you can make loads of money selling skins for existing items? They can't promise VR support for launch but managed to shove out a load of DLC for the carriers launch![]()

Elite Odyssey only works on Samsung Odyssey.....

The only problem I would have with touch controllers is the length of time holding my arms up in the air. I wouldn't be able to play as long as I do with the HOTAS. FDev work to a particular playbook when it comes to marketing, I'm familiar with the style. Now, I will admit they have dropped the marketing ball more than once, but they have generally stuck to the playbook.
I was going to post further, but you know what? I'm done. Done with you lot and this game. The constant negativity and dev bashing serves no purpose than to stroke player egos and is mostly so uninformed about game dev that it's just humorous.
Well done Frontier Forums crew! You've driven another player from the game, one who has VR gear on her shopping list, one who might have moved from her neutral stance on the EO VR issue to a stance that supported the no VR = No Odyssey for me deal. Reasonable discussion and some actual consideration of others opinions would have been a huge help.
I make this post fully expecting to be called names. Congrats on being part of the problem. I'm going back to playing something else, something with open, communicative developers and a mostly mature playerbase.
