An open letter to Frontier Development

I just want to highlight a point that needs to be made:

This game is teaming with organized user activity that seems to be getting more and more popular, and people are motivated to make it all happen right now.

Fdev, by shutting down Galnetnews, seem to be doing their best to make a very alive game seem very dead to new users who don't bother to dig into the amazing community.

I think it is very interesting to have a community news round up that fictionalizes player events with game generated events and mixes that with lore articles of things that didn't really happen in engine, but still affect the galaxy in an indirect way, or explain why things happened in a certain way.

I'm confused about something. It appears to me there are still some Galnet articles in the game. But when I try to listen to them via audio nothing happens.

Honestly, by gutting GalNet FD are harming themselves. Any newcomers to the game will see a dead feed.

The decisions to (a) remove all story from GalNet and (b) kill all CGs and IIs are frankly baffling given the financial position that FD enjoys, as disclosed by its annual report etc.

The Power Play and Thargoid Report articles are automatically generated, and unfortunately do not support Galnet Audio. The "authored by hand" articles are now absent for the forseeable future.

As this is supposed to be a sandbox where we "blaze a trail through the stars" and build our "own personal narrative" we need a living universe to build that story in.
And while I understand peoples frustration with not being able to tell the difference between lore pointing towards something new in the game and pure fluff, that could easily be helped by clearly markings articles Fdev has created to point us in the right direction.

So please, Fdev, listen to Kai Zen!

E : D went downhill since the departure of Michael Brooks, and IMO the bottom is not in sight.
I've given up on it ever getting better because the design decisions being made all point in the direction of making it worse.

@Frontier. I wish to humbly thank you for your response to this thread (as well as many other threads and messages, I completely know that this was not just aimed at me). Quite often we as gamers here from games company PR people, "We hear you and are looking into that and we can not respond just now but we will definitely look into this" and depending on the PR people and the company this can range from either complete and total to a thoughtful and precise response. Today Frontier showed me just exactly WHO they are and HOW they honor their words. I could not be more grateful for your response. This company has earned my trust as well as my money in spades today. and I hope that everyone of the hundreds of people who have taken the time to either like the original post and/or respond on the 24+ pages of commentary on this thread see and acknowledge this.

DEAR:

Thank you SINCERELY for being the ONE thing in 2020 that did not disappoint.

Like I said, you have earned my money and my trust and I can't wait to see what you do next.

NOTE TO MODS: While my Original Post has more than been addressed please leave this open for a little while so that the people who were part of this thread can also share their thanks!
