Question for Open players who don't like PVP/ganking... help me understand

A number of Powers do- the Kumo for example are 100% Open only players too. When wars are fought like that (the Kumo are fighting Pranav right now) in Open it is fun but in the end pointless if you want efficiency. Hopefully FD will see that and change the feature to either Open only or remodel it so each mode is better represented.
I'm not even in the powerplay bubble and I'm lucky to see one person a month if I go to somewhere I know has traffic, but I play in open as a rule - there's occasionally other traffic on the boards but I never see them.

I did, however, switch to solo earlier today just to take a high-res version of this shot, just because I just happened to catch this view at the right time when I was running missions.

I mentioned this in another thread, but it also seems appropriate here..

Before online gaming was a big thing, LAN parties were a thing. Sometimes I'd have 10-20 stashed around the house, power and network cables all over the place... Sometimes I went to large, organised events.. One thing all LAN parties had in common? Gankers/griefers. Now, depending on the event, such players might simply find their MAC blocked from the network.. Others I've seen beaten. One guy, a real charmer, was tied to a pole so he could watch his hardware being auctioned off. Got a nice SB card for $5. I saw one guy get tossed out the door with his PC and 21" Sony CRT right behind him.. LAN parties were great, they were a legit social event, something that online gaming fails to be.

So, yeah, their was ganking at LAN parties, but it was considered antisocial and dealt with rapidly - and often painfully for the ganker. Now, in Elite, I have an option to deal with them, the block feature, which is just as effective as the old ways, but a lot less satisfying. Although seeing some of the reactions in here to mention of its use makes me reconsider the satisfaction level.

If it's such an issue, why haven't players called a crusade to "liberate" the affected systems? There must be significantly more people less inclined to PvP than those who do, and it could make for a half decent story. The "more aggressive commanders" in Deciat etc would love the change of pace too, I imagine. In the absence of an alien threat (and with not much else going on) it might give people something to do before Odyssey.

Apologies if this is a well trodden path, I'm relatively new to ED 👍

There was a group that were doing what you suggested, I believe. They left the worst area to go 22,000ly to chase this one bloke. He suicided back to the Bubble and they've been fairly quiet since. You could ask why but they're rather allergic to questions.

Somehow that "its within rules" reasoning is not liked by some PVP guys, in this case.
If you ever saw how much it screws up instancing for us when it comes to legit PvP and the way some people choose to abuse it, you might be a bit more understanding.
I personally don't really have a problem with it although I wish players would use my gank evasion training or learn how to survive instead but it is what it is.

Well probably I would give you pass. As you are not bad one when it comes to gankers :D
Thank you. I really appreciate it.
I truly think the relationship between gankers/pvpers and the rest of the community needs to change and we all need to unite instead of hating each other.
