Frontier: give the FSD to ALL players, regardless of whether they took part or not

I just wish Frontier would grow a spine.

The CG was published clearly offering the FSD to the top 25% of participants. Everyone who participated joined up knowing this, knowing that if they didn't make the top 25% they would miss out.

I logged in on the weekend, looked at the cargo levels required for the top 25% and made the considered judgement that I would not be able to reach those levels with the playtime I had available. Therefore, I decided not to participate. It was a long way out of my way and I had limited free time. That was my decision. I own it totally. It was made in the knowledge that I needed to be in the top 25%.

Now Frontier have changed the rules. They changed the rules after the fact, after the CG had finished, after there was no way to do anything about it. This is just completely wrong and pathetic.

At least those who would have missed out at 25% knew they had played by the rules, and had been fairly beaten by other players who had put in more effort than them. Some might have been annoyed that they just missed out, but they missed out fair and square.

Now Frontier have annoyed those players, including myself, who took Frontier at their word, believed the "top 25%" as published, and made a decision. To get into the top 75% would have been just two trips in my Cutter. I could have done more. I strongly believe I could have made the top 75% over the weekend if I had known that was what the threshold was.

What Frontier have done is worse than doing nothing. Very much worse. They have essentially lied to their players. Prior to Frontier making this change I was happy with my decision to miss out. I would have liked the fancy FSD, but I was at peace with my decision not to try. Now I am angry, disappointed, and frustrated. Now, when Frontier say one thing, I will always be thinking to myself - can I believe them - can they be trusted? Right now, the answer is no.

So like, listen to this man, I was flyin around not doin much cause you know, I don't participate in virtual escapism only to be made to feel like I still have to work for the man, man. That is a straight no bueno for your soul brother.

So anyway I'm just cruisin out there in my adder totally asserting my individual freedom when it hits me, I could like really use one of those carriers, man. Now obs I cant buy one myself, being a free spirit and all, however (and listen to this, man), what if we like all all just get one? Allow us all the chance to soar like beautiful eagles across the galaxy, just imagine how beautiful that would be. IT WOULD HEAL YOUR SOUL PROBABLY COMPLETELY, MAN!

Just think about it, man, do right by your inner self. Heal, just like, let it happen dude.

That is how I see the issue. It is not about messed up FSD (I would never break my FSD with fast boot, it is just bad). I did not participate and I do not care about free FSD but that is exactly what FDev did - they lied to the players. Again they've lost a bit more of the credibility (if anything is in that pot anyway). And I believe that is the issue discussed by the OP, not entitlement like few of you suggest... Changing own rules AFTER the event is just asking for crap PR... Have a look at other posts in this forum. There is a pattern of conversations questioning FDev ability to deliver on own promises - this situation discussed here does not help...

I didn't do the CG as I didn't have a VR headset at the time so I know I will get accused of just having sour grapes. It really isn't I would feel this way even IF I had the module... But giving out these OP unicorn bits of gear is utter madness imo. The game is poorly balanced as it is without this which makes it worse...... To me it smells of desperation to try to get numbers up.

FD should give away skins and decals for rewards, or even ARX but not game altering stuff.

As someone who put up considerable effort to get into top25% on 2 accounts, i will settle for nothing less than a Cobra Mk4
I'd give you the much more exclusive Cobra MKII if it was up to me and I'd only allow to the OP to fly the MKII from now on.

In these two days I have read everything from some players.
1) "CG was too far away to participate (500ly and 2871 participants)" -> The last CG anti xenon "THARGOIDS RETURN TO WITCH HEAD NEBULA" was almost 900 ly away and had 5873 participants. So that's the classic dismounted excuse against lazy players.
2) "the players with the carriers were advantaged" -> Another excuse FDEV believed. A lot of GCs have happened around Maia in the past and there were no Fleet Carriers and there have always been players who finished in different Tiers and Top 10,25,50 and 75. No one has ever complained.
3) "The GC ended too quickly" -> More rubbish said by increasingly lazy players. A lot of GCs ended earlier than expected and no one cried and no intervention from Frontier.
4) "I don't live inside a videogame and I don't understand how people can expect a unique reward to be taken by a minority of players who can afford to spend hours and hours in front of their PC" -> Once again some noobs don't understand the difference between standard gameplay and a gameplay with a higher challenge level and therefore a higher engagement than normal. Those who managed to kill Thargoid by losing even 2-3 Corvettes or other ships got a reduced reward for the huge loss in credits to try to enter or maintain their position within 25%. The FDEV is guilty of spitting in the face of those who have engaged in an activity promoted by them and moreover no one takes into account the loss in credits for those players who have lost ships instead of making 3-4 deliveries in "solo mode".

The Frontier should have much more respect for its player base. I am talking about those who give their game a more concrete sense than those who play to make screenshots. I am fine that the game should be accessible to everyone but not in this way.
Frontier over the years has lowered the quality of their features to please children. Same thing many of its communications
Have we seen all the streaming with developers and community managers not knowing how to land right? Or go mining with the Mamba. Now we've also got the Frontier taking down or backwards marching its events to a fait accompli.

You could have thought about it first or just done a second CG with the same reward and you would have made a simpler and more logical decision instead of coming up with something as trivial and badly done as this.

You've set a precedent and the worst thing is that the GCs have suffered from years of poor participation. Now they are back after a period of absence and you make this crazy choice. What can we expect? You will no longer do GCs with unique rewards because you are not able to think of a logical process that leads to a different solution?

You spit in our faces.

You are not serious with your customers.

Drama much?

I have a better suggestion.

Wipe the account servers, reset the galaxy back to the Gamma 1.00 state, re-implement the alpha economic model, and crack down on exploits from day one.
