I don't mind people inspiring others to go on the search or others posting theories of which path to take and what possible routes there may be. It is fine to post all theories no matter how much tin-foil is needed for them. I think all paths should be considered.

However, I do have a problem with people claiming they have found anything from the Dark Wheel and/or Raxxla without posting actual in-game concrete evidence for something of this magnitude.

Raxxla is perhaps the biggest mystery in the entire game to date and should be taken seriously.
Completely agree! You need photographs of it, or your full of it, or saying your close to finding it, not mentioning any gurus...

I'm sorry, the code has different objects and figures about confirming them. Are there people who have all these objects confirmed?
I've written above, and I want to still understand. For the Elite game is characterized by the fact that one minor faction can be in different parts of the living area ?
If there are no such factions in the game, except Sirius, then I have a hypothesis that their second name is the Dark Wheel.

Aaaah, back in the Bubble again. Gave up on Beagle Point when I remembered it was 45K LY there and 45K LY back again from Sag A*, so just hit the Top of the World and then took the scenic route back. At Ngurii now about to check out Soontill for the first time in a couple of years, and I noticed that the availability of Soontill Relics on the commodity market there is huge - 400 !! Are all the rares that available now? There used to be less than a dozen I think a few years back. Significant? Who knows. Going to pick up 32 and take them around to a few places after visiting the namesake system, then might head to Sol or check out the Hesperus thing, or perhaps check out the alternative Soontill planet locations between Grandmort and Delta Phonecious per the book. Or do something.

As the things it wants tends to be live humans IIRC, not sure if that is my preferred First Contact approach either... ;-)
Nah, they primarily want their own stuff.

Humans, they’re just picking up like any good ship would do when it comes across lifeforms in need of rescue. 😉

(*actual goodness of intentions may be less than implied.)

Yes. Factions can be in many systems if thats what you're asking? Any faction reaching 75% influence in a system can 'expand' into a system up to 20LY away. Usually they are player managed factions (PMFs) as its easier with dedicated support but AI does it too. Look up BGS for more info.

Its possible to chain expand into systems and then retreat from the middle ones in the chain so 2 separate groupings happen.

Sirius has many faction names all slightly different. The Dark Wheel faction existed in game and was installed in Shin Des. It was probably supposed to stay there but an accident or design allowed it to expand to LFT 926. There its stayed for a long time until last year when a concerted effort was made to move it closer to Sol and other systems and expand it into 50. Look up Turning The Wheel for more info.

The Dark Wheel is also a player set-up Squadron. They only had small numbers and last time I checked had had no contact from anybody in or out of game for using the name. Frontier allowed the name in the first place and havent told them they need to change the name and the real Dark Wheel havent shut them down either like Felicity says.

Nah, they primarily want their own stuff.

Are we sure this Tharg rank thing is genuine. its not official is it?

but either way I dont see how returning stolen items, usually involving destruction or vandalism to Tharg or Tharg sites, is gonna rank up with them, that makes no sense. Scanning and not vandalising or killing should be what does it...and hope they dont count Scavengers coz we need them for Mats :)

Han_Zen first reported the system map clouds a while ago, I think in Alpha Centauri and Alpha Cygnus, and I spent some time with him searching for them. They don’t appear in every system, but are much more common than we originally expected. The hypothesis was that they are a clue to Raxxla and would lead to it if the systems that demonstrate this phenomenon were followed. It was an intriguing hypothesis because they originally seemed to lie mainly along a line where RA (right ascensions = 20 hours, 0 minutes 0 seconds. However after a fair degree of searching we found the phenomenon all over the place!

All you have to do is travel to a system which exhibits this behaviour, switch to system map and wait- seems to take 8 to 12 minutes sometimes before it starts to show, after once seen it often (but not always) seems to happen quicker. There can be more than two clouds, I think the most we found was four. I had a spreadsheet of the findings and plenty of videos but seems I’ve deleted them from my iPad; if you’re interested I could look on my gaming PC for them next time I log on. The conclusion I came to is that it’s a system map graphics bug- the coloured dots that seems to be associated with the clouds match the colours of the stars in the system map. The clouds grow and shrink but couldn’t match that to anything, but probably still an associated graphics bug. Don’t know if Han_Zen reported it as such. The thing that decided me was that it appeared in some systems that were nowhere near RA=20 and didn’t seem to be leading in any particular direction.
Thanks for the awesome reply! If you can find some data on the gaming pc let me know :) this hunting raxxla thing does my head in lol

Yep, by “Cmdr Harry Potter” but renamed in the book to avoid copyright issues. you can google it, there are some youtube vids.

The spiky haired woman was Elyssia and the theory is that she, Rebecca, Salomé, the pirate woman, and possibly Emperor Arissa are all clones. You’ll have to read Drew’s two Elite books and make your own mind up on that.
I did read the darkwheel, but it was about 11 pages on the internet so not sure if i read the whole lot, do you think it was a bad decision to kill her? Maybe she was one of the significant links to the darkwheel and raxxla?

Sirius has many faction names all slightly different.
I'm not talking about the minor Siriuses, I'm talking about the Sirius Corporation.
The corporation itself is 8 years from the Sun, and the farthest point is 516 years. Are there any other factions like this in the game?
Look at this organization, they are scattered around to control everything ?
And why did they disrupt the Sirius summit where the main goal was to increase opposition to the Thargoids.

After all, I think I read that Sirius was called the Dark Star in ancient times on earth. A star is certainly not a wheel...

P.S. I wonder if there is any data that the main station of Sirius was redesigned ...

Mental note of little use: both Raxxla and DW symbols possesses elements of isometric cube and by coincidence that pattern is engraved in guardians structures. Kinda like
rotating-cube-delay.gif

Note: if you stare at this for some time, it will change directions. In mind only.
Amazing example

about clouds ...there is a setting in xml file - "density of local dust". It has some value like 0.13 for minimal settings and 0.0 for high. Point is, if you set it like 0.001 on high u will see dust here and there. I made it because I assume dust cannot be complete invisible (0.0). And I see nice clouds everywhere now.

<LocalDustBrightness>0.001</LocalDustBrightness>

Been a long, long while since I've been able to log in to the game (thanks COVID!), but I am both a little surprised, and a little excited that Raxxla is yet to be found. Hopefully, I'll finally have access to my gear again soon, and I'll finally be able to play again.

Z...

The Dark Wheel was the novella written by Robert Holdstock (a nom de plume) and accompanied the original Elite game in 1984. It can be found on line ( 8 chapters) at
He invented the word Raxxla and it featured in one of his earlier books (The Alien World by Stephen Eisler) under another name where he had an alien race, the Oisir-Raxxla, who built Talmor Lens installations throughout the universe (including pyramids in Egypt) to manipulate time and space. See Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/8a6nl2/a_missing_raxxla_link_please_just_hear_me_out/

Frontier, as part of the marketing and lore development for Elite Dangerous (“Elite 4”) set up a scheme whereby selected authors could gain access to some inside knowledge on ED timeline and background. They produced the “official books” which convey some of the lore behind the game and add colour to the game universe; they are available through the Frontier store and hardcopy of some via Amazon etc. They are “official” because they were proof read by FD to ensure they aligned with the game lore. The authors were told to stay away from the topics of Raxxla, Thargoids, anti-gravity and (I think) time travel but not 100% sure about the last one.

One of those authors was Drew Wagar, who had also written some earlier fan fiction books (Mutabilis etc based on lore from the earlier Elite games, available free from his website, also good reads but NOT canon for ED!). He wrote two official books Elite Reclamation and Elite Premonition where the main character was Salomé. That led to the Formidine Rift mystery and The Club’s Dynasty plot. You can google those if you don’t want to get the books, but they are a good read, as are the other official books. One of his characters was the Old Lady, who turned out to be Rebecca Weston, a character he carried across from his fan fiction series of books. FD saw the player interest in Salomé, included some Galnet articles about her, and organised the big in-game event where she died. This was decided by player actions. The event was mired in controversy due to some background politicking and surreptitious gameplay, coupled with instancing limitations of the game’s design which was not intended for such large scale events. They also can all be googled.

I didn’t take part in the event due to RL commitments, I liked Salomé as an interesting character but she was rather spoiled, immature and selfish; I neither support nor denigrate the decision to kill her, it was decided by player action as Drew intended, but the game does seem a bit flat without that type of storyline. She was recruited into the Dark Wheel by Rebecca, you need to read the books! I don’t think they contain any real clues to the version of TDW or location of Raxxla (whatever it is) in the game, but one character did say the DW faction in Shinrarta Dezhra is a convenient front for the Real Dark Wheel and mentioned them spinning on the outer rim- which may or may not refer to one of the original Elite missions from TDW in Shinrarta (see first page of this thread where Macros puts all the evidence found). Since the books were proof read by FD this cannot contradict FD’s internal lore (or could it? 😎).

Happy reading!

According to a Cmdr (8th March) in IRH Discord (#general channel) he had a conversation with an FD contact on this topic and showed a pic of part of the conversation which does imply there is a hidden Thargoid rep meter which FD can monitor. The response was that FD narrative team could insert appropriate content to if there was significant response from the playerbase. So the mechanism is not hard-coded in-game. But it does confirm FD can monitor all sorts of things (e.g. the hidden PilotsFederaion rep counter for rescue missions & killing Thargoids, though that does seem to have some associated hard-coded behaviour).
