I don't think it's hard to understand it's not about the money itself. It's about respect for people doing free marketing for your game?Why don't you buy him a key. Or donate some money to him so that he can afford one. This way you can show that your wallet is where your mouth is.

Yeah, I know what you're saying but if they had just given him the key, we wouldn't be here. We'd be endlessly speculating about some other rubbish. He'll get more traction out of this. I'm sure FD will ride over it, easily, but it just seems like bad planning.
It was clumsily written. I meant, if they had given him the key in the first place he would not have made that video where his faithful subscribers, who already have a bad impression of FD, will no doubt have intensified that 'reputation' with them by just not giving him a key. It just looks a bit amateur.

He has free speech. He's saying whatever he wants on YT. As long as he doesn't breach their TOS then he can say what he wants.
You don't like him, many people don't and that's great. But his videos have some of the highest view counts for ED content creators; That's marking done on his part without any incentive from Frontier.

You are being personal. You directed it at me by saying “I cannot understand why people defend someone who has been so openly abusive in the past”. I’m the one who started the thread so I’m obviously defending him.
I have never heard this accusation of abuse and I would not support it if it were true. If you actually watch his video he claims to have followed up asking if he has in fact been blackballed and was told no. Maybe he’s not telling the truth.
My point of defending him is because of their response. If they had refused him and stated he was rude to staff or broke certain rules which they can’t reward, so be it. But they apparently didn’t.
He is a very well known ED content creator who has been around a long time. I watch his videos amongst others because even though he may be critical he gives good examples of how things could be better. It’s not just being critical for the sake of it. He can afford to buy the Alpha access but that’s not the point.
The point is that Fdev flips the bird toward a creator that is critical. That's not how it works. The developers and the creators feed upon one another in some weird form of symbiosis, which I guess Fdev are gonna learn the hard way now. For most content creators getting samples is also a question of being up front. Not in this case, but it's just a stupid signal from Fdev, and a signal it is.Why don't you buy him a key. You said that you only became a fan of him because every other content creator was happy that Frontier had lowered the upkeep. That will include content creators who are often critical of Elite and Frontier. So if you are only a fan of his videos because he's critical then I would think it's fair for me to assume that you wouldn't like the few where he's praised Frontier. Though I am assuming, so...

No I was explaining that there can be abuse found in his videos. If you don't think that cornering someone who has come along to a community organised event of their own free will, and having a go at them because you think their actions are terrible, you think they're (insert a few swear words) at their job, and the deserve to be fired, is abusive.

How do you know it's dishonest and that's the reason he wasn't given a key? He may be a content creator, but there are many, many other content creators. You are suggesting that Frontier are excluding everyone who regularly makes content based on Elite Dangerous but didn't get a key. That just seems a little strange to me.
I'm going to start making ED videos, I'll just say any old rubbish (no change there then) in a fantastically British accent but you won't hear a word I'm saying because you'll be transfixed by the low cut tops I'll be wearing.
I think that was the clarification people may have been looking for. Your original post gave no context as to what the conversation was about. It could have been racist, sexist or anything, the above seems to have cleared that up, for me at least.
