The unknowns left are what happened exactly in that last system and what exactly happened to all the people and cargo.
There's also a date in the Adamastor's logs where the contents are missing. It's prior to arrival at the LP.

Also a question tied to the above about whether the Adamastor started at Chukchan, went somewhere, then went to the LP, or whether it started elsewhere, went to Chukchan, and then went to the LP.

Lots of unanswered speculative stuff as well, of course, but the missing data from the date stands out as a clue that has not been resolve.

The missing logs were the ones with the instructions or orders, if we got them on the Adamastor there'd be no mystery, it would have the CSN sector in it, I think thats all it is......I think :)

yes to the rest, where did it start, whats the home base etc Theres nothing in Chukchan to suggest anything out of the ordinary, no abandoned base for example which would fit that gap.

Some more Sagitta factoids...

  • It directly borders the Great Rift
  • It directly borders Vulpecula Dark Region (and that constellation), which oddly was not listed as part of the Great Rift
  • Bayer's representation of it attached here has Gamma, the brightest star, where the paw of Vulpec is grabbing the arrow, and the tip of the arrow is closer to Eta, while the arrow itself points to Theta (just above the tip). Ptolemy of course had Gamma as the tip of the arrow.
  • Using Simbad, and looking at stars near Gamma in the Aladdin viewer, it would seem that Eta is what is being pointed at, if Gamma is the tip of the arrow of course. Gamma is marked in the Aladdin screenshot with a small green cross, the bright yellow star left and above of centre. Eta is the smaller bright white star to it's left, and I think Theta is the even smaller star up above it (not confirmed yet, but easily done by moving that cross onto the star in question, getting the coordinates in the top left, and popping them into a coordinate search in Simbad)
  • Edit: and here is what it looks like on Galmap with most of the brightest stars bookmarked. Sham is Alpha. There are also named systems on the edge of the Bubble around Eta and Theta.
  • Edit: HIP 99351 is Theta B (* tet Sge B in Simbad terms). I think this is probably the unamed star immediately above Theta in Bayer and on that stargazing link that was in the first post.
  • Note: The Galmap stellar objects in each system of course do not match the real life stellar objects (and in a couple of instances known planets). So far at least.

Exploration and theorizing continues...
12 gamma Sagittae is also exactly at Right ascension 20h in ED. Ra 20 is always interesting. (y)

My personal suspicion on this is simply that the actual rate of people getting an Elite rank far exceeded the forecast rate which those missions had been designed to tie in to.

Could be wrong about it being the cause of removal, which could very well have just been down to a bug, but I'd bet the actual situation is as per above, and a rethink was needed at some point.
In addition to that, I also sort of had the impression that they were supposed to be chained missions, i.e. Completing the first one in a chain would unlock the next part of the mystery mission, etc. Which never happened, so they may have been broken as well. Somewhere (may even be on this thread) there is a long post by the commander who logged their disappearance as a bug, and the various non-responses he got from FD, including in person at one of the public events.

Vetinari

I think they removed them because possible content behind them was changed (TWD and Raxxla).
They probably blocked missions when they had plan for interactions with engineers.
Right now only engineers have 'invite' mechanics. Also they had huge impact on lore like Palin, Ram Tah etc
Sadly this theory would also fit with the engineers being somehow linked to unlocking TDW invite perhaps, which would be, well, ugggh.

I think they said Chuckchan was the home of Azimuth ( somekind of bioscience i think?) And they were later bought up by another bioscience corp that also went belly up at some point. - so ya shell companies for the Club (Ask Davanix) ;)

But no record of anything connected to Azimuth or the other one in Chukchan itself, no abandoned station or base or anything, just some text from the PIs about the history of the 'company'? I may have just been expecting too much or maybe its like the hidden NMLA base that apparently disappeared and is meant to have existed and then disappeared, if we believe the Empire side of the story anyway. Just seems like a big gap in the story but not sure if meant to be or not.

I mean they could have tied it into an abandoned base, or a hint at INRA or connected it to Black Flight or the PSJ-17 base or something else but theres just a big hole there.

Wasn't it when 1.3 hit? Going by my very poor memory of course.
The disappearance of those Elite missions in SD still troubles me somewhat. It may have been due to a retcon, but I’m wondering if a game update obviated them. Does anyone know when they actually disappeared?

I paid my fines after trying, & failing, to hack Adamastor’s transmitter. Now wonder where to start looking. She was fuelled at Chukchan for a 370ly journey but went via the Synuefe LP which is 365ly from Chukchan, so presumably the base out towards Barnard’s Loop should be nearby? I suspect there is more to be decoded in that LP message.

And on returning from Coalsack after collecting Carver’s team and their findings her hyperdrive failed when at HIP 69200, which is NOT on the way to BLoop, but approximately at right angles to that route, back towards the bubble but missing the centre, so she must have been headed to another facility! So I think there are two Azimuth sites to be found, and one of them may have the wreck of the Hesperus after a Goid (Klaxian?) encounter. That may be more likely to be at the BLoop site.
This?

And FWIW neither Azimuth nor Pharmasapien appear in any of the old lore either like the FE2 journals or the like, that I could find. It was 200 years ago, so even an abandoned base may have long disappeared to be fair. Or we just have not found it (there was a lot of noise that was never decrypted in the LP signal also).

This?
That is the post. Really should bookmark it. Thanks. (Or maybe it can be added to the first page?)

My personal opinion.
All missions are missing that were associated with finding any objects in the game (INRA, base guards, base Thargoids, etc.) after it has already found and wrote about them on the forum and the wiki, these missions have lost meaning.

Or similarly, it may be the case that these were not procedurally generated missions, and when the decision was made that the new mission system would only be proc gen missions, they were killed off.

I agree.
But even if our galaxy is procedurally generated it still has systems fixed to resemble the real world.
So if the plot will develop further, there should be new storylines.

P.S. I was thinking about the procedural generation of the galaxy. It turns out that the system of coordinates, (polar) that is slightly visible in the figure in the codex - the primary.

Long time lurker and player of the game here, (and my first post here, so please be gentle) but has there been any noticeable changes in the Odyssey countdown pics? I seem to recall a couple of pages back someone saying they were getting clearer?
Welcome to the mass insanity. I don't believe there have been any major changes, taking a look at what is here, but I have not followed it very closely after the first couple of days, can't see anything recognizable (to me at least, which doesn't mean much as I suck at these sorts of things) in the star formations: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/countdown.567512/

Not sure if they have been using the same background on their equipment and other preview images as well.

No offence but Im guessing you are using some sort of translator and I sometimes have a hard time understanding what you mean, so forgive me if this is way off the mark of what you meant, its down to misunderstanding purely.

Some stories had local GalNet stories that disappeared after a period of time - this is most annoying and frustrating for people like me trying to follow the trail (Canonn is a godsend sometimes with this, sometimes I just have to give up) Theres a couple where the UCB gives a key to a message in local GalNet that just isnt there anymore in-game!

Some stories had associated GalNet that werent there for some reason. @drew can correct me on this but iirc there were some GalNet stores that either got 'missed' completely by players or werent published properly during the Exodus storyline due to bugs or something (my memory is hazy and second hand, I wasnt there during the event). And iirc some others didnt appear due to the story being solved before expected timeline and story played out eg Jacques had some GalNet that never got published due to being found early.

So some have been lost to time, and some didnt get published correctly. Hopefully that isnt happening now. But some do lead to dead ends in-game or are Easter Eggs that mean nothing now coz theres no context to place it or make sense of it.

Frontier if youre listening, please leave local GalNet history intact in future, regardless of how long ago the event happened, its still new to me and other players today when I find it and its still as exciting as when the first player found it.

Havent checked Chukchan to see if that local GalNet article has stayed or gone though, hope its still there.

Ah, after checking them myself, I dont see much, if any difference in them either to be honest. Would be intriguing to find out where that skybox is though...

And as a long time, long term player (played all 3 originals) I don't know if Raxxla is real, and wouldn't even begin to know where to find it, but if it's here in game, then I'm sure we'll find it eventually. Whether it would be worth it or not would be down to our interpretations of worthiness.

That said, I think its got something to do with TDW at Shinrata, but obviously with the proc gen missions being messed up, it might be that we can't find it due to them. Who knows though, Odyssey might fix them again, and the hunt can begin in earnest (but knowing FDev...)?
