If anyone stupidly walks into that beam it should be permadeath.....hm, that is a mining laser, it cuts rocks, it should be able to cut him into pieces just the same - if not, then something is very wrong.

Based on in-game lore, the damage to a person in a suit should be minimal though. It would kill you, that got fixed and is in the patch notes.
It is a great way to play. You know what is funny with all the debacle about Odyssey and the uncertainty, if I will still be able to enjoy EDH in 6 months?- I play EDH a lot more relaxed with pretty much no goal of any kind just enjoying myself ... and I'm actually playing more and for longer than before. So it had at least something positive for me personally. Maybe that is the way in which it should be played even and my search for a desirable goal just hindered me enjoying it.
I'm actually thinking about buying EDO despite the mess it is in and eventually just play it in the same way, just enjoying myself, do what works and avoid what doesn't yet. I know already that I will definitely dislike the engineering process with suits, but then again, I want to practice the stealthy way and might not even need high-end gear. And that quality I might eventually need, can hopefully be bought somewhere. So yeah, I guess I'll buy it in June - winter is coming and that is a good distraction then.
I had the carrier jump failure , about five times before a complete logout and restart fixed it.I'm currently hauling, in my T9, 752 tons of salt which is due delivery at FDev Offices on Sol 3.
It was a requirement for the mission "Your Carrier Won't Jump Complete Without CTD".
This irritation has caused me to add to an existing ticket AND, get this... necro a thread. Something I swore years ago to never do![]()
Yeah, I finally found some good stuff, too, yesterday. G3 Maverick and G2 Artemis. Just whish it was the other way around. The thing about Odyssey that still makes me feel weird - and it shouldn't, but there you go - is grabbing a taxi. I'm in a ship I'm not controlling
EDIT Oooh! Just picked up a G3 Maverick suit and G3 PK thingy weapon!
Yes, this is the right attitude for this game I think. ED goes through stages, kinda. I've been playing for 5 years or so, thousands of hours, and I'm still enjoying it. What I'm doing in-game keeps changing as I get interested in one part of the game or another.I'm actually thinking about buying EDO despite the mess it is in and eventually just play it in the same way, just enjoying myself, do what works and avoid what doesn't yet.
Chris, your moaning just shows that you care for the game - and that is ok, that is what the forum is for, a forum just worshipping the devs is not constructive.Yeah. To be fair, there aren't many things that downright don't work in Odyssey. Yes, some things are a bit annoying and if you're unlucky and hit something gamebreaking that's bad (from what I read, most of the bad experiences can be avoided if you DON'T buy Odyssey through Steam)
But personally, the awful UI aside, I would gladly recommend Odyssey. To an explorer in particular. My experience so far was rather positive. (Despite what my constant moaning would suggest.)
I think one objective measure of a UI "goodness" is the number of clicks and screen switches one has to go through to achieve a thing.I am still making my mind up about the various UI in Odyssey.
Are they actually that bad (bugs aside) or are they just so different from what I have been using for the last few years.
The answer is I think a bit of both, with the balance swapping from one side to the other depending on which UI I am using.
rinse and repeat - when you have done them a couple of times they will get easier - because you know then what to watch out for and eventually find a different approach. That is like with interdictions for a newbie - he might be send to the rebuy screen a couple of times, until he gets used to, doesn't panic anymore and knows how to counter the interdiction.I took a Threat ZERO, yes ZERO mission.
Go and pick up something from a locker. Locker code was given. Easy LEGIT mission I thought.
what! How do I get inside the gawdammit base? It requires at least level 1 access.
Didnt want to kill anyone to clone their access so I waited until no one was looking and I cut a panel to open a door.
Walk inside, someone sees me, hear some speech (my audio was set a bit low so I didnt hear what they said) and suddenly there was a bounty on my head and lasers are coming my way.
Rebuy screen again....
Seriously, these ground missions are way too hard for me. This was a threat ZERO dammit.
Some of the UI is just a matter of getting used to it. Some of it though... nightmare.I think one objective measure of a UI "goodness" is the number of clicks and screen switches one has to go through to achieve a thing.
Another is clarity and intuitiveness of symbols and menu logic. (I.e "can I find what I'm looking for just by looking or do I have to try every button first to learn what they do").
In both of those cases, the new UI is a... downgrade. If I'm being generous.![]()
The fetch missions have only two things to watch out for.I took a Threat ZERO, yes ZERO mission.

One of my current pet peeves is how targeting a system/planet works now with the "hold the plot route"Some of the UI is just a matter of getting used to it. Some of it though... nightmare.
Ship equipping? Yeuch. Go to planetary map and then exiting takes you out of the map instead of back a step. Exiting the sys- and galmaps can take ages.
