Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I'm really enjoying Odyssey. The first couple of days were bumpy but a week in and it's running smoothly, though still a bit taxing for my slightly underpowered laptop (I blame windowz). Teams the last few days have been pretty solid - multi ship, multu srv, multi foot - all working together well. Settlements are good. Many graphical improvements that suddenly have shown up out of nowhere. Everything looks better. The planets have loads more detail and strangeness. The darkness of space feels much more convincing, and the other dimension of being on foot has given more to the power of the metaphor. It seems obvious that most of the rush-reviewers have hardly seen anything and jet-pack-jumped to conclusions. Checking out lots of backwater stations for rare weapons and suits. Talking to the locals. They don't like it either.

Being able to get out of your ship really gives you a different perspective of the size of things.

Yay, sold out of 20000t of tritium for a reasonable profit. The CG helped out a lot.
Found out Inara is doing this now...they are trying to indicate supply locations, but still won't be accurate, help full.
Thinking it through, these locations are all most likely after the cmdr has taken the item. Out of date on specials.:cautious:

It doesn't work, though. Like Brenda, I've been looking for an FSD (5A in my case) for the last three days, and no bueno.
Something is bugged, because even if the icon in the outfiiting says that it stocks larger modules (the number of "dots" on the icon), I only ever see A-rated modules up to class 3 and B and C-rated of class 5 but never anything larger.
I've stopped looking for now, actually.
Have you and @Brenda Zephyr tried Ray Gateway? I can't check but it used to have loads of stuff.

That's so weird because I bought 5A FSDs just yesterday in EDH. But anyway, I have an idea for you, Chris. There is a way to look at it differently, then you might not need that FSD immediately, if you have one already, which matches your requirements.

Look at it like this - you can just fly one ship at a time. So if you have a good 5A already in a ship, take that one meanwhile and leave the ship you are not using with the 5E meanwhile. In general one would just need 1 of each type and upgrade for all ships, because one can just fly one ship at a time. So for as long as you can't find another one,you can move one of those you have already around from ship to ship - it's a little bit tedious, but an interim solution.

The problem is that it says "material trader" - but all i find are raw material trader - i need a manufactured trader and that cannot be selected.

And i am playing in EDH, not bought EDO yet.
In the Galaxy Map you can only find the traders so it is a 1 in 3 chance what you find if you visit the nearest 6 to where you are now you should have a good chance.
Otherwise that Inara page linked includes what sort of trader they are in one of the columns so while you cannot search for them exclusively Manufactured Traders are easy to spot in the output.

yeah, EDDB doesn't have the trader type, but INARA does have it in the list - I didn't know that before, was just using EDDB.

This is really funny, around where I'm at are MORE manufactured traders than raw material traders, but I just came across those few, which are not. I just hit the gaps in this myriad of manufactured trader network.

So how can you tell, in Odyssey, what planetaray bases are landable now? By that, I mean the the old skool ones with shipyards, refuel/repair/rearm, etc.

And has anyone done/found any geo sites in Odyssey yet?

I cleared my save and am starting over. I do only have one ship.
Which is a good thing, though as I don't have much ambition when comes to bigger ships. For now I've settled on the iEagle. It's a surprisingly good all-rounder for doing missions and zipping through the Bubble.
I do hope that by the time I've got enough money for a Phantom and start planning my first big expedition, the outfitting thing is fixed.

Erm...

Some geo sites. Or rather the lack thereof.

I found a planet I had previously mapped which, according to the description, has two geo sites. Well, actually, no, it doesn't - at least not available on the left hand panel anymore. I took a look anyway and landed.

It now seems your piceous cobbles and crystalling fragments etc. are just strewn willynilly all over the place. In addition, I blew up a crystalline cluster but it yielded iron. Which was really odd. Piceous cobbles had iron didn't they?

Is this an expected result of the new planetary tech or another bug? I didn't have time to do too much so I'll scout around more later.

I am trying to figure that out too. But besides the old skool ones with shipyards, limpet sales, market etc, there are hybrid versions where you get to land on a Pad, has the station services menu with the repair, restock, market etc, and yet you can disembark and walk around an outdoor Odyssey facility (not the cookie cutter starport).

Basically from what I have seen, for ground facilities:

1. Old School
2. Hybrid
3. Legs only

I have no way to figure out which is which from the Map/nav panel. I would like to know too.
