They already have a deadline to make Odyssey somehow work on base last gen consoles and all the fixing that needs to be done. If they make VR it'll be realistically like 2023 at least until it's good enough for a release. That's so far away there's no point saying it's planned - considering all the non-constructive doom and negativity being thrown around at anything they do, we can't even be sure they'll even bother continuing to work on ED.
One doesn't exclude the other. Your argument holds water like a colander. They need to be honest before anyone can have an opinion about what they say, but just being honest doesn't make them right. This is why FDEV doesn't communicate bad news. 'We wish FDEV were more honest with us and just talk to us like adults.' FDEV gives straight answer. 'No! Waaaah!'
Obviously, but it honestly seems to me watching the forums for months the VR Community have acted atrociously from Day 1. FDEV: 'No VR for Odyssey, it's too hard!' VR Comm: runs various threads, basically a bully campaign FDEV: 'Well, okay, we'll see if we can put in a half-measure, but seriously, it's too hard'. VR Comm: placated, but wants more, campaigns for more FDEV: 'Seriously guys, we can't do this, but we'll try'. VR Comm: more bullying FDEV: 'Look, we can't do this, no further development'. VR Comm: RAGE! LIARS! FILTHY DEVELOPERSES!One doesn't exclude the other. Your argument holds water like a colander. 3308: when it's backported into realityYou could just wait until Odyssey is backported into Horizons. Supposedly this will happen when Odyssey is able to run on a 10 year old console, which I predict will take place in the year 20-never.
I don't think "bullying" is the right word, and you certainly got the direction the wrong way if that was the case. It's Frontiers game, and they do what they want. That being said, they did state that VR wouldn't be supported in Odyssey "at launch", which turned out to be, if not a lie, then at least not the whole truth.Obviously, but it honestly seems to me watching the forums for months the VR Community have acted atrociously from Day 1. You are plucking 2023 out of thin air. FDev's own "roadmap" says that Odyssey will be finished with the console release, which is set to happen in Q4 of 2021 at the latest.
There's absolutely no information on what (if anything) they are planning to do with the game in 2022, much less 2023, but obviously halting development is an option & one where the signs are currently pointing towards (dooooooom!). For the record, the current VR implementation only took a few days to implement. I appreciate that Odyssey would be more involved though, since you are no longer sat down in a seat, but we're still not talking months of development to make it happen on a technical level.
If your glass is half full, it would have been better to say that they'd look at it after the console release. The fact that it's not being, combined with no ship interiors ever also being confirmed, does not bode well.
I have no idea why but that was a bare faced lie about the trunk being much more advanced with way more features and exciting new content that we didn't see in Alpha
I preordered like a numpty because I believed in them. I'll still keep the game because i hope to see them turn it around. Won't spend a penny more on them until they do to my satisfaction though.

Horizon still has about 6 months left. After reviewing the details of the recent livestream, and especially regarding the decision to rule out any future development for VR in Odyssey, any desire that I may have had for purchasing this expansion has gone.
Even though I have been here from the beginning, these days I play exclusively in Virtual Reality, and this decision in of itself wouldn't be to bad as I still enjoy Horizons in its current form.
However once the much hated and slated graphical and ui changes are forced onto Horizons, any further desire that I may have had to continue dedicating time to this game will die, and I feel with great sadness that I must now finally and permanently make the pre-emptive move to uninstall ED from my hard drive before I waste anymore of my time with it.
Frontier you have killed it, and not in the good way

ED will leave an huge void in the space VR niche, and any company that could jump right in and deliver will claim that market for them. Already looking forward to NMS deliver a decent space flight model or X4 came to VR.
VR has been in the game since Beta. It was sold as a VR supported title, advertised as a VR supported title and FD has enjoyed the publicity of Elite being a VR showcase game since the start of VR.Obviously, but it honestly seems to me watching the forums for months the VR Community have acted atrociously from Day 1. They are not saying they are not supporting VR anymore, they are just saying that they are not trying to port FPS gameplay to VR, and as a VR player I support that decision. Motion controllers in ED Odyssey FPS are a bad idea and that would really break the game.
that's all I would want, I'm not interested about motion controllers in Elite. The last time I tried the vanity cam in a concourse my 3080 filed for divorce.I do wish they would just add a stereoscopic view for FPS.
