Strange how he didn’t say “I know where it is”…. And assuming he meant FD is a natural assumption, but it could mean the player base/Elite community….

I’m guessing he’d expect someone to ask about it at some point (especially if they had put it in game) and may have prepared an answer with a cryptic clue…

Or you may have caught him off guard and he let it slip because he was desperate for a beer? 😉
Or perhaps he and MB set it up together so he was talking for two people?
Not so sure about this, as I think setting up Raxxla would actually also involve some people from sound, graphics, and possibly CM team, but it might be DB’s and MB’s Easter egg and they personally took charge.

I think it was Drew who inferred that Raxxla would be within 500 LY of Sol due to the length of time it's been in the lore and the associated jump ranges.
The Potato Hunt is brute forcing this on the Exploration subforum.
For myself If I wanted to hide something in the game I'd likely go for an Icy body orbiting the distant partner of a brown dwarf binary. Plenty of those close to the Bubble that haven't been mapped.
There is also the quote by Braben about looking at a star in his back garden and then logging on and traveling to it; Northern hemisphere, naked eye visible? (the Potato Hunt seems to concentrating on the southern Hemisphere thus far)
Of course this wouldn't square with the previous hypothesis...

All hypotheses are good, they all need testing.
But if Raxxla doesnt show on the scanner or sysmap then the brute force search wont find it.
The clues seem to imply fairly clearly that the omphalos is the gateway to Raxxla, but what does a gateway look like?

I'm sure this has nothing to do with Raxxla, but has anyone seen the ten second video posted on facebook? It contains seven codes that I have put together in the same image. I'm not an expert on codes, if anyone has any idea what they mean ...View attachment 244704

Translates as 'Choose the right side' iirc. Dunno what method / code but is referring to the current CG to choose between Salvation and AEGIS.

It has begun. Help us ignite a spark to the Guardian story! Help us make history! We need you. The ball is already rolling, it has begun! The mission in simple. This was written rather quickly once I was alerted to the active missions going in with this project. Would love to see yall out there. o7

Sorry to post again, but I've been reading through more of the posts and either I, myself, ran into Raxxla a while back without even realizing it or our search for Raxxla might have to begin accounting for bugs as bugs rather than signs of Raxxla's proximity

I still struggle with the fact that all the clues -if that is what they are- given in the Codex entry for Raxxla, are applicable to too many candidates. Yes, mother of galaxies can mean Cassiopeia, but might even fit more the constellation of Virgo and all the dozens of galaxies it contains. And many of the queens and goddesses in the sky are featured with jewels on their brow, or wearing diadems. So... let me add another one to the mix!

By looking further into the Astrophel section of the codex entry -since this passage is directly hinting at giving a clue- I came upon a particular edition of Sidney's book, featuring this:

Eyes2C.jpg

Now this might not mean anything, since it could be the emblem of the guy publishing that edition, but... just found it funny, with the peacock being Juno/Hera's bird, and that bird having many "eyes" to see. The legend of how it became her bird is also interesting, with Juno taking the green eyes of Argus the Watcher, and putting them on her pet bird, the peacock. Anyways, just found it interesting and it shows how easily new interpretations might come up when looking for clues ;)

The peacock is Hera / Juno's bird. I guess that's what Junonis Avis means.

I not sure what 'Juno sit dextra libello' means. Libello is: a notebook and Dextra is: Right side / hand.

The symbol for the Juno (and her asteroid) is sometimes drawn this way:

But this representation seem more common:

Edit: Peacock is of course also the Pavo constellation and the star Alpha Pavonis.

Well, I think I may have made sense of another clue. Been working it this afternoon, but no results so far.

I think there are two possibilities, either Raxxla was placed as an Easter Egg for anyone to find, or it is part of the “personal journey” storyline with a series of event leading up to the revelation. Of course it could have started as the first then changed to the second. Or perhaps it is still discoverable as an Easter egg with an in-game storyline that would lead the player toward it. I’ve been playing for almost 6 years, but I can’t say that I’m aware of any such “storyline” events happening to me.

The evidence for this line of thought:
13Oct2014DB said “ED has a story that "embraces all the players; it’s not a single-player threaded ‘rescue the princess’ style story, it’s a story of your progression through the game, (i.e. a “personal journely”) we will have things that happen to you at certain stages through the game”

FD implemented Raxxla in gamma (released 22Nov2014) when Raxxla may have been an interesting Easter egg & version 1.0 was released 16Dec2014. At that time there were E/F missions in Shinrarta which seemed to be leading towards Raxxla. These E/F missions appear to have been deleted (1.5 Patch Notes General Fixes/Tweaks said “Elite/Founder missions are now only available at the Founders World) circa Nov 2015 but there are no confirmed reports of them since around that time. In his 14May2016 Lore interview with DJTruthsayer Michael Brookes said “Where is Raxxla? Well, It's in the Milky Way, but I can't tell you where at this stage, it's a journey that everyone has to travel for themselves". And in July 2015 MB said Elite Legacy “was more of a spiritual successor than a direct sequel to Holdstock’s The Dark Wheel. We did look at a story involving Raxxla, but felt that was a story that should be played out in game rather than as a novel.”. So it sounds as though they decided to change Raxxla from an easter egg that could be found randomly to something only discovered through the developing “personal journey” storyline, and thta could be why the E/F missions disappeared. They may have been rewritten/disguised as a more coherent part of the storyline to get to Raxxla, &/or they may have been viewed as being too easy (especially as Elite ranking became easier to obtain with access to Shinrarta and those missions). Enquiries about the disappearance of those missions initially got a “we’ll look into it” type of response, which changed to “nothing to say” response, which seems significant.

This is not actually the clue I’ve been chasing today. That’s actually both a revelation and a continuation of what I’ve been doing recently-searching for Raxxla around the outer planets of Sol. Particularly around Rhea, moon of Saturn, since the Codex mentions the Omphalos and in Greek myth Rhea fed the Omphalos Stone to Cronus instead of their baby Zeus.

Now the clue that has puzzled me for a long time is the paragraph in the codex: “Several versions of the Raxxla story mention an alien artefact, the Omphalos Rift, described as a gateway or tunnel through which parallel universes can be accessed. These details, however, were later shown to bear a striking resemblance to the children's story Princess Astrophel and the Spiralling Stars, and soon lost credibility. Undaunted, some Raxxla seekers insisted that the story's author had cunningly concealed facts about the mysterious locale in his book as hints for those with eyes to see.” This paragraph just seems so odd & out of place; it seems contrived! We don’t have access to that “book”, though many people (me included) have gone looking through Philip Sidney’s “Astrophil and Stella” verses. It suddenly struck me this afternoon that “cunningly concealed facts about the mysterious locale in his book as hints for those with eyes to see” could be interpreted as meaning the answer is an anagram of the book title. So I fed “Princess Astrophel and the Spiralling Stars” into various anagram solvers. This one https://anagram-solver.net/AstrophelandtheSpirallinStars?partial=true produced a long list of amusing possibilities, including:
Leeds train station (as a Yorkshireman I loved this one!)
Easter Island Airport
Hitler Rants Parodies
Lisa Daniels (p 0 rn star)
Anti Depressant Pill (an essential item in all Questors’ ship’s medicine kit!)
Astrophel and Stella (yes, them again!)
Happiness is the Road (a thought worthy of Buddha (there is no Way to Happiness, Happiness is the Way), or MB!)
Iranian Earless Toad (speak up that alien!)
National Pipe Thread (I’ve often felt I’m being screwed on this Quest!)
The Patient Assassin (RP prevents me from pursuing this path)
Alien Paradise Lost (scary, and reminiscent of my Alpha Centauri/Eden hypothesis!)
ESports in Thailand (what can I say?)
Heart Palpitations (lavian brandy+too much coffee!)
It Started In Naples (do we know where Robert Holdstock lived? 😁)
DESTINATION EARTH (promising!)

Plus a load of others that might trigger a light bulb for someone with mythology awareness (@Han_Zen, @simulacrae, @Thatchinho ??)

HOWEVER the ones that jumped out at me after a short perusal (some letters left over!):
Alien Ship At Rhea in Sol (Rhea, Omphalos Stone, hexagonal pattern of Raxxla logo suggesting 6th planet with 6 moons...)
Alien ship Ariel Sol (which is interesting given the Ariel NPC that crops up occasionally!)

But I do like the penultimate, it’s where I’ve been looking!
A strange bug this afternoon! Destroyed 8 Wanted skimmers protecting loot. Got notification of bounties, got loot (!) and eventually went to Titan Ciy to sell salvage and claim bounties. But no bounties in my transactions tab!

🙂👴🏻

Edit: I’m not very good at anagrams, so please feel free to do your own word twisting, I’d be interested to see more ideas! 🙂

Jorki, you're seriously one of the great Raxxla hunters.

The quote above reminds me of WorldCraft tourist beacons and their mention of paid actors who participate to make their customers experience as real as possible.

Mmm, Possibly another hint? 🙂
"Most come to Epsilon Eridani for the WorldCraft Theme Park which was set up with no expense spared and costs a small fortune to visit. It is well worth it though, because you can live in a world of almost any fantasy you wish (something that has given it a reputation for seediness). If you want a break from the lushness outside, you can elect to stay for a day at the Ancient London Earth World of 1960 (where every effort has been made to make it as authentic as possible, it even has the stench of pollution).[4]

Every fantasy theme has its own complex which is self contained, with actors to help tourists play a part in adventures and feel that it is real. [4]

There are more wholesome themes on offer too. The War Veterans Trust maintains offices at Oliverport and runs the famous Museum of Armour and Ballistics on New California."

Rekall that Sirius provides the power generators for WC parks, and that they control Robigo, home to the CdE (Seedy) Corproration, and how that system is actually an easter egg (?) to The movie Total Recall, and it's role in not only alternative realities, but also terraforming.

Missing a "g" in spiralling?
Ood spot! 😁

Even better!
Greatest Hits Radio Lancashire 🥺
Italians and other strangers?
Pinstripes and Poltergeists (good name for a Spacers bar?)
Gastrointestinal diseases (my stomach has been playing up the last two days!)
Secret garden (installation) - that sounds familiar! Isnt there one in-game?
Space pirates (antagonists) - TDW as gentelmen adventurers (pirates?)

I agree, this paragraph seems the most likely candidate if you were to look for something to apply the quote "make it a little bit obvious" to. In any case, it is the one part of the whole codex entry I can't make much sense of. It not only has the fictional book title in it, it also seems to relate to the whole Omphalos mythology. But so far I can't really answer the question of: what the flip does Delphi and the Omphalos myth have to do with Astrophil and Stella? IF it is a reference to Sidney's work. We still can't fully rule out that they really tried to make the codex entry self contained, meaning you don't really need more than what is in the codex entry.

But yeah, I am still trying to figure out how Omphalos and Astrophel go together. There are more questions though. "These details (referring to the Omphalos Rift) , however, were later shown to bear a striking resemblance to the children's story Princess Astrophel and the Spiralling Stars, and soon lost credibility." Why make it a children's story specifically? Why is Astrophel suddenly a princess? What do they really mean by Spiralling Stars? Still too much ambivalence, too much room for interpretation.

I did find an interesting piece of art though, a musical I never heard of, while searching for alternative references for Princess Astrophel. It's old enough to potentially have been known by those writing the entry for Raxxla: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Princess_of_the_Stars

Wow!: Alien Ship At Rhea in Sol. This one It's pretty specific, you might be after something solid.
Well, it jumped out at me because it aligns with the hypothesis I’ve been testing. There may be other versions, try it and see!😉

Mind, I’ve been looking around here for a while now & not a sniff of an alien ship so far!
But it seems reassuring that I’m on the right lines.

in general, I further tested my jumping theory. translated raxxla into numbers - 729952, jumped from sol. Let me remind you: system number 7 is selected in the list, I jump there, then I select system number 2, and so on. after all the jumps, a ship appeared! screenshot below.

after I tried to jump from lave, it resulted in more interesting results than I thought, I just went back to lave. really nothing else happened or I didn't see ...
1625033081074.png

by the same principle I will jump again, but using 18 1 24 24 12 1 from the points sol, lave, tau ceti
