what we need is REAL open and honest communication about what went wrong, what is being done to fix things, and what the plan is for the future, I was so disappointed by yesterday's Livestream, as it simply evaded almost all mention of the ginormous implications of Monday's news. Also the cynical adding of yet another overpriced suit skin that is not even new, just a slight re-tinting was a bad choice as far as PR goes right now.
 
FD fix planetary tech and atmospheres to be the ones from the trailer (proper daylight and nice coloured atmospheres), those things sold Odyssey to me.
Right now those trailers looks misleading and as false advertising!



And finally some reasonable news and announcement, now let's see how that pans out!

That applies to any of us who played Elite when it was still in black and white.
 
There was a really, really simple "fix" for the planetary tech - include both code bases, and create a flag in the BGS if an existing planet had structures / crash sites etc and then you use the old code for that planet instance, but for newly placed sites or vacant planets, use the new tech.

I think retaining the Horizons terrain for all airless worlds would work. More complex than using the new one everywhere but less demanding on the users' hardware and still less overhead than the current split servers approach.

Frankly I hope as little of Odyssey as possible gets added into Horizons when they are finally merged.

IMHO Unfortunately, everything is bad with this game and Elite Dangerous Odyssey is not even alpha, but pre-alpha. This whole game is full of mistakes. And the question is WHY? Why did so many players leave negative feedback on the release of DLS Elite Dangerous Odyssey? Why don't the developers fix all the bugs in the game, which prevents them from fixing all the bugs in the game? What's stopping the developers from filling Elite Dangerous Odyssey with really interesting content? Is all content in Elite Dangerous Odyssey related to costume leveling, costume weapons, and repeatable missions?
IMHO at the moment Elite Dangerous Odyssey is a framework to which new mechanics, interesting content, long and overlapping quests can be added. All this can improve the originality of the game, the history of the Elite Dangerous Odyssey universe and attract even more players.
BUT it looks like, unfortunately, the game's developers just don't want to deal with Elite Dangerous Odyssey.
PS: I don’t regret the money spent, I don’t regret the time spent on the game. I feel sorry for Elite Dangerous Odyssey - this game with HUGE potential and a future, but only if the developers really want to work on Elite Dangerous Odyssey.
 
No offense, but I knew whatever was going to come after this was going to be untrue. :p
Why wouldn't that have worked then ?

Sure, inhabited planets might be a bit more lacklustre, but I'm sure we'd understand why when they told us they had no definitive way to introduce them to a planner with an existing surface without extensive and time consuming manual remodeling of the buildings.
