Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

We can agree to disagree. Depth is down and that's what you get with SC, down to every switch, button and screen working. Breadth is scope, size of environment and such, which you get with ED.
Not based on my understanding of the definition. What you’re describing is complexity, not depth. Depth is the number of unique outcomes, relative to the number of player actions. A good game maximizes depth (outcomes) while minimizing complexity. A classic example is the difference between Go (depth) and Chess (complexity).

Like Mole said.

T16000 for spending a normal amount of money.

Virpil of VKB if you are spending a nutty amount of money.

If you arent doing combat type stuff, the X56 is nice because it has a lot of buttons and switches, but the joystick isnt as accurate as a t16000. Conversely the t16000 doesnt have a lot of easily accessible buttons on the joystick itself.
We have to be very careful recommending the T16000 stick, because as much as I love how it feels and the price is great, it is VERY prone to a certain type of failure and you’re either going to be sending it back until it’s out of warranty or you’ll have to crack it open to fix/replace the bad pots. Mine is now fixed for good but it required replacement parts, soldering, and a lot of patience.

No. Each button you can press has a function.
Lol, no. Really want to try and make a video right now, because that much is so obvious. Just a walk about the MSR would be an eye opening experience.

Not anymore in 3.14
3.14 is not out. I'll see with my own eyes if, for instance, my copilot screens become useful and active. Like, for example, copilot taking care of the gimbal guns, or managing power distribution and shields ? (since until now, trying to do so did absolutely nothing). Also extra seats in the Caterpillar, are they now doing anything ? Or the screens there are still just 3D assets for decoration ? (edit) and that engineer station in the Retaliator, does it do anything now ?

Whenever I dig into people's idea of "immersion" and "depth" I quickly come to the conclusion that I'm not "people". But that's ok. :D
See my post before that one for an example of a deeper gameplay loop. Depth, is going beyond the varnished surface of 3D graphic assets. Currently SC alpha is merely that, in a small, and shallow sandbox, where you can pewpew a bit with slow lasers and heavy desync, and deliver boxes by fighting the still completely broken physics engine.

If you are doing a lot of sweaty pvp you are also going be breaking the twist on them.

Its been years since I had the X56, but it was also junk breaking every 30 days. Went through 3 sets before the 4th one actually worked for a while.

I would rather name Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Yay!

Looking forward to WotR... which i'll be getting just as soon as I get to the end of Kingmaker with any of my parties..... although that's not looking likely any time soon.

Furthest in progress is now my Evil party, just finished War of the River Kings and got my throne back... which was nice, because it was rather silly sitting on that stool.

Based on this reaction to ISC, twerk's stream tomorrow might be nice and spicy.....

Sometime next week I will try to install the game again
Star Citizen has depth, Elite Dangerous has breadth.
Not this again.
Thats the beauty of staggered development, this wont affect 3.15 at all! :ROFLMAO:
Honestly, it is usually better to reduce scope of the release than extend the release time. Of course this applies only if there is something non-breaking to deploy, even if minor.

Also, not really. Merging is costly.

Newer Logitech built ones are fine, I got one as a warranty replacement for my almost 2 year Saitek built X56 which developed a drift in the twist yaw. Been working fine for a couple of years now... and I'm not exactly gentle with it :)

Holy heck, went to see when I actually ordered it and noticed they are $450 now. Not sure they are worth that.

It’s staggered by 3.13 already ;)

Hacking – Tech Development on Hacking is continuing to make good progress. After a round of internal feedback, we’ve made the decision to spend some additional time on this feature in order to release it in a more polished state. For this reason, this card has been moved to Q4 (3.16).

Can't be making that much progress, otherwise they wouldn't have pushed it back THREE times by now (in case you don't remember Hacking was first added way back under 3.13 and has been delayed ever since).
