Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

As an experiment I turned the frame rate limit setting to off, was 120hz.
Began to see rates above 200 fps in space. Depending on where I looked on a station 40-90fps.
Interesting. I will check out all the scenarios. May be my GPU can do more than I thought.
Just a little caution needed when turning off the limit: it can cause your hardware to overwork. I'd keep an eye on temperatures and see how loud your fans get,

Yeah, I'll sort it out before my summer starts here in Oz.

I just completed the Uma project and got an invite. Relogged and went for a visit.
No one home. logged out to game crash notice?? trying again.

Get back to my chieftain with 5x frags..... I'm glad those npc don't fit their ships in this form.

But ammo go real fast.... 🤷‍♀️

That's must be hurt! BADLY
I also have a Chief with only frags, and yes it uses ammo in the blink of an eye (and destroys the opponent in roughly the same time span). You can synthesize ammo. The mats needed are hard to mine, but at least back before Odd you could travel to the Crystalline Shards in a day and stock up on high grade raw mats, that you could then trade for ages to the "cheaper" mats you needed for the frag ammo.

Frags can be OP, and my all time favorite ship in the game became a Vulture with frags (rapid fire screening shell). The Vulture is even more agile than the Chief, which I can recommend with frags. You need to be so close that once you fire the frags, the angle they shoot into, will be covered as much as possible by the target. DPS drops extremely fast with distance, but up close they are nasty. In practice I think the frag Vulture I have is more deadly the my frag Chief, simply because the Vulture is so easy to maneuver. Also, with the Vulture you only need to synthesize ammo for two hardpoints, and not six like on the Chief.

At the extreme I also have a T-10 with all frags, called "Broadside" for a reason. It's like one of those giant fish, that wait for their prey, totally still, and then once they become currious enough to come realy close, it's all over in a single shot (small NPC ships). Great fun, and with incendiary frags it's quite a firework.

On my way to my first restore power support mission...no idea what I'm doing! :ROFLMAO: Should be fun!

EDIT

It went very badly indeed.

First, it was all in darkness so I couldn't find the PWR building, then two ships worth of scavs dropped in. I got about six dead before witnessing the death animation of my own.

OK, next!

:D

Sounds exactly like my first attempt :) I died so many times at the beginning.

I use gimballed, i'm training fixed with PAs but sucks at it too.
Yup, thats why I fall back on gimballed beams and MCs all the time even though they are weak with all the chaff/shield cells around higher level NPCs.

The deliberate nerf to railguns annoy me a lot. I am fine with charging it but they should allow release based on input. Having it generate heat while being held charged is fine.

If you like frags, do the powerplay stunt with Zac Hudson (youcan go shooting his ships again afterwards...) and get yourself a bunch of Pacifiers. I'm using three of them on my Krait Mk.II (with gimballed corrosive MCs on the two medium HPs).
