They also promised offline mode 🤷‍♀️ 9 years is a long time to change your mind on something.
If I were to make a list of things I said in 2012 that I would like to do in the next ten years, and then look at my life now I'd have to admit things went... differently. I work in a different industry, live in another country, with another GF, after completing a PhD I didn't even consider doing at all back then. Life is great, but not as planned.

I hope interiors come one day. If not, ED would still have been a fantastic game I enjoyed for many, many years.
Stop trolling.
He isn't. He is pointing out you are making claims that are simply false. They said they currently don't have plans for X right now. They may or may not have it later. You dont know, I dont know and probably they dont know what they will do too far in the future. Again: uncertainty is part of reality. They are hoping they can fix performance sufficiently. If so, they will plan to release on consoles. They have some additional content planned.

Beyond that is simply not known. If EDO runs very well, console launch is smooth and FD earns plenty of money, they might make new plans for big expansions. They might not. If they do it might be ship interiors. It might not.

You just have to deal with that without pretending they said it will never happen. Don't get hyped. Dont be cynical. Dont make stuff up. Just sit back, relax, wait and see.

The impression he gave was that he was being "honest" and stating "facts", which is that there are no plans to do ship interiors either now or in the future. Now, you can be pedantic and argue semantics and say that doesn't mean 'never', but in corporate speak, it just does. It's as close as you'll ever get.

Of course plans can change, or be added, but nope, given up waiting for it... especially after Arthur's words which were pretty clear, concise, and honest.

Better to accept reality than cling to the illusion of false hope, I say. It only leads to disappointment otherwise. 🤷‍♀️

Therefore, fitting the interior into the exterior is irrelevant. They can TARDIS the design, and while a few would get hung up counting the number of footsteps inside and out and declaring 'it doesn't fit' - nobody else would care.

Nah, you're talking about ED here. First of all, David Braben will care. And then, you will have dozens of users here having spent all night to measure the interiors and compare their results with the specs of the exteriors. Never under-estimate the nerd-attraction proposition of a game taking you out of society, even offering VR - and all of that can be taken to venture into the loneliness of empty space far beyond the bubble ! How much more isolating can this game become (should I feel bad that I like to play it in VR and went to Beagle Point ?!). There WILL be geeks complaining about each foot of interior which can't possibly fit into a given ship...

and yet, nobody but them will care and they make up a tiny portion of the playerbase in a game with all of the unrealistic or inconsistent things currently existing within it like Elite.

Having a ship who's interior doesn't necessarily fit inside the ship is meaningless. You'd be too busy already being upset about multiplayer telepresence, SLF remote control, srv direct control, instant news feeds and galactica data updates but manual transport of data, unrealistic maneuverability, unrealistic power distributor stats, engineers (all of it), magic planetary thrusters, stars that are colder than your ship heating you up and produce light, etc... that the foam coming out of your mouth and your bleeding fingers as you rage on the forum and everywhere else would simply be too maxed out to tell that you're upset about yet another inconsistency with reality.

And it's obvious fdev doesn't care about that stuff either. If it makes for the gameplay they want, then they'll do it. And worry about it later or ignore any reality inconsistency or even internal inconsistency that it causes. So such a thing as interiors not fitting the exteriors is a possibility.

If interiors come it will be more limited in many ways than people presume. And yes, people will nerd-rage and yes, every normal adult should ignore them.

Braben already hinted at that norion in a fairly recent interview.

Sorry, maybe @StuartGT knows? Was along the line if "the fans expect ship interiors to be fully modeled and unique, but that's just not a realistic target in actual game development" or some such.
Ah cool, hopefully Stuart, mother of all quotes, can help us out here. If your paraphrase is accurate I very much agree with the principle, no doubt.

TechRadar And David Braben said:
Returning to Starfield and Braben feels it’s important that Bethesda recognizes the challenges that exist in the modern digital world and learn from the recent releases – including No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 – which have become targets of social media vilification because of missed deadlines or lackluster content.

“It is a risk,” he explains. “Some games can very much become all things to all people. We have this with Elite Odyssey as well, where people expect every ship interior to be different. Let’s see how Bethesda does. I don’t want to be criticizing them. I think they’re a very good company but I do think they’ve gone live so early that they’ve got their work cut out. That’s the truth of it.”
