Console accounts transfer to PC

Frontier,

Without getting into the reasons that led to the decision to cancel ED console development, I think that it's the correct way to let us transfer ALL commander data from a console account to a PC account. Even if the storefronts are different, assets could be transferred in form of one-time use vouchers or a similar method. Assets that should be able to be transferred include:

1) Discoveries
2) Ranks
3) Permits
4) Ship unlocks (i.e. Cobra Mk IV)
5) Paid items such as skins
6) Credits

For me personally, the most important items are the first 4, with #5 a great thing if happened and #6 can always be replaced. But please, give us a way to walk out of console and into PC (some users are ready to do the jumps, other may do so in the future). That's would be the only way I think this horrible news can be at least mitigated. I've been playing since Xbox Game Preview, and spent thousands of hours in this game. Don't let me and others in a similar situation to get our journey truncated in such a sad way.

You know what would have been even better? To propose a solution along with the problem. "Sorry guys, EDO on console is a big no-no because reasons... BUT WAIT, there's this alternative for you our awesome and loyal customers: transfer over to PC if you have the means! Obviously we wouldn't let this news bummer you out!

But, yeah...

They are looking at ways for full account transfers but have nothing to announce currently.
They shouldn't have killed off half their playerbase without at least setting up a xfer system first. This is by far the worst way to manage a game. I thought the vaulting of content with destiny was a bad idea... this is 100% worse.

'Hey, thanks for your support... we dont' want you anymore...'

Thanks FDev

Hey the PS4 & Xbox One were tired outdated consoles when they launched so to expect miracles is a little selfish. Now FDev could of obviously handle this better but here we are.

There's rumors of some newer consoles called Series X and PS5 that could possibly handle the load...
This is true but it must of not been cost effective to port Elite Dangerous and Odyssey to the newer consoles or they would of said they were going to instead of 100% killing console support. Over 70% of the playerbase is PC so....

If inara can pull all of your commander data through your frontier link than surely they have access to it all.

Maybe... but still, killing off hopes of long term progress to 30% of your LIVE GAME userbase without coming up with an upgrade path or account transfer is incredibly shocking.

Just to chime in,

I would like more than just credits to transfer over.

I’m thinking ranks, ships and credits at least.
I would love for my unlocked engineering too but I understand if any paid stuff is not transferred over.

Just adding a comment hoping for a good official word.

This was a bomb dropped and I knew this was where it was headed but just odd to see it come so late.

Frontier is kiiling console support, at least they have to let all progress, ranks and ships (such as Corvette, Imperial Cutters etc) to be transfered to a PC account

It's absolute garbage the way they are treating us. It took them almost a year to finally tell us all to Fk off and they don't even have the decency to have a way for us to have a full transfer. That crap should have been in place weeks ago because only the densest of morons wouldn't think that question would come up.

As a PC user and having never owned a console, I would like to ask if consoles can use the Frontier API for reporting to apps and websites, like Inara and EDSM?

It seems to me that the Frontier API could be altered to import the commander data back to an Elite account, instead of exporting it.

Then FDev could update the Elite Launcher to accept the import as a "New Commander".

You would then have a primary commander login account and a secondary commander login account for console commander import.

Just a wild idea.

I would be very interested how you know they are doing this? Because honestly, I wouldn't put it past them to actually not allow us to transfer anything and just tell us to go f**k ourselves.
There was a tweet and comment on the forums BUT I would caution interpreting it as them looking into us actually doing it.
Consider they told us for years they could only transfer credits so if they can actually do it…sigh what a big lie that was for years

We can import our data to Inara
