Last night, after 10 months of Odyssey, I realised that I have disembarked from a Python for the first time!
I was completely unaware of where I was disembarking from or how to get in the ship until last night!
And yes, the tones of blue instead of a proper heatmap is something silly that happened during the alpha of Odyssey.

What you need to do is get closer, so that you are able to distinguish the different hues of blue, and then work out which hue has the highest likelihood (because that's what the different shades represent).Yeah I have been told by my fellow players that it effectively just comes down to luck and nothing else.
Which is kind of-..Frustrating, to be honest.
You know that blue colour that appears? How intuitive would it be if those would only colour in the areas where the geological signal sources are found? You know, so that you dont have to cover the entire planet and narrow your search down a bit with high tech sensor equipment.
..I know that is how the mechanic is SUPPOSED to work, but it clearly doesnt in a way that very obviously needs fixing to me. I mean, just look at this.
