True story, but 9 years ago, back when I visited Argentina, I was at a playground there, and, no joke, at the end of every slide was jagged glass. Woo hoo, cuts for everyone (actually, now that I remember, not 1 kid ever got cut)That looks really cool, though I wouldn't want my kid running around that sandbox with all those rocks sticking out of the ground.Recipe for head injury right there!
Ok, I need y'alls help, 'cause y'all are the experts: what animals in-game (including the new Wetlands pack) are rare in zoos/captivity?Ok, after a day of getting dizzy in the hot sun, inspiration has hit me like a man hitting mosquitos, and I got it: Quell's Covert.
"What's that?", you ask?
Lemme explain, in the form of lore:

Hello, hello, hello. My name is Sue Kiper. I am the CEO of the International Association of Zoos and Parks (IAZP). We've noticed your success, Mr. Quell, and we have a daunting request for you, if you accept.
You see, we at the IAZP need a master (if a bit unorthodox) zookeeper to build and run a zoo with rare, endangered species and species hard to acquire in captivity. Your goal is to establish successful breeding programs for many animals so that we can reintroduce them to the wild and reestablish good numbers.
Many have tried, many have failed. That's why we ask you, a true zoo tycoon, to please help us. We have nowhere else to go.
Please message me if you are interested.
Sincerely,
Sue Kiper

I'm not talking about conservation status, I'm talking about numbers; I plan to add most, if not all, endangered/critically endangered animals, maybe some vulnerable?
Platypus: 1 US zoo, around a dozen Aus zoos
For sure these 2, thanksWild Water Buffalo: 1 Nepali zoo (Domesticated species is more common)
I'll think about these
- Lechwe: Around 10 US zoos, quite common in Europe
- Crane: Uncommon but not incredibly rare. Around a dozen US holders; elsewhere IDK.
Over 150 collections in Europe.

Thank you! I figured I really have to use more reptiles in my zoo. Frontier is really good with them, honestly. I hope the new terrace tool will help me build water habitats easier, because that's actually where I often struggle. Especially when I don't just want to use the terrain painting but want to build a pool with concrete. Komodos had the plus of not needing water and since they are an island animal, they fit perfectly into Amity.Wow, Swjos. Wonderful. Komodos are essential for me, and zoos where I somehow can't fit a croc, I feature them, don't ask me why? I guess I need 1 big reptile to showcase
Guest to his Family: ,,Hey, I got a really nice Souvenir from the Zoo. I've lost 2 Fingers and now my Arm is having that weird blackish blue Color. Should I go to a Doctor because of it?"I know IRL they would probably climb those fences or some dumb guest would lose their fingers, sticking it through the fence
Oh my god, yes! They're reptiles; they don't move much! Smithsonian and Audubon's enclosures can't be larger than, oh, 100-300 meters squared. Yet the game's version are apparently not just hyperactive but also like space to run around. (and PS, love the fence joke)It's been ages since I had them in-game and when I had, I started a new zoo and never really played with them. The amount of space these stinkers need is quite shocking - and why on earth are they running the whole time?
Nooooooo. Please not. Such a cool starting...Booo, my game crashed. My laptop might be giving up the ghost.![]()
Thats the spirit, the more otters, the more fun shenanigans! Also, I realise that the otter habitat is probably a lot bigger than it needs to be, but oh well, I'll just try and breed a lot of otters to make it worth it.![]()
What's the programme you used to make the map- it looks brilliant!Thank you! Some of the Australian pieces are among my favourites in the game, and they go so well with the African theme. With snow and cold weather outside, I really needed to escape to a warm place!
I'm unable to prepare habitats for the new animals in advance, so I actually just do other stuff around the zoos. But I know the feeling of a slump after the announcement, you just want to play with the new ones immediately!
I didn't feel like playing today, I might have overwhelmed myself with building yesterday. So instead I gave the vector map another try and made one for my Niceland City Zoo (which isn't really a city zoo, but well). The outcome is a lot better than last time, and I think I will use it in the actual game on the screens. I love how the game boosts my creativity even besides playing. I'm not super talented with vector graphics, but I'm getting better and I might adapt the map when the zoo is further expanded.
