Console Profile Transfers and 2022 Updates

True, don't know the reasoning for it, but was just pointing out that if you think you want to do a transfer you need to pull the trigger when it's available. It's not a sit around and decide what you want to do kind of thing.
I'd imagine the best thing to do is to create a new email, create a new FDev account, ask for an account copy, and then praise the brebus for a new Horizons licence and most of your player progress being ready for playing once you install the PC copy.

Yes, it will be visible on all platforms
But you will not be able to transfer that carrier to the PC when the transfers will be enabled.
However, you''ll probably get refunded during the transfer so you can re-purchase the carrier on your newly pc account (or you'll have to decommission the carrier pre-transfer)*

* (I'd actually hope they do that so the number of carriers will not be doubled for the transferees)
It says in the OP the process for Fleet Carriers.

Fleet Carriers and their contents

Fleet Carrier ownership cannot be transferred from one Commander to another. To players that wish to own a Fleet Carrier post-transfer we would advise the following:
  1. Decommission your Fleet Carrier ahead of the transfer
  2. Wait for the decommissioning to complete (two weeks).
  3. Check that credits from the decommissioning have been returned.
  4. Complete the profile transfer process
  5. Re-purchase a Fleet Carrier on PC

This scenario will save people from purchasing Odyssey again for the transferred account if they were impatient enough and already purchased Odyssey following the console dev drop announced 10th March by DB himself
You could most likely ask for your Odyssey account to be transferred to a new account. I just recently did as by mistake I bought a second copy on my normal Frontier account, albeit I never played it. Still just guesswork from my side, so we'll see how it turns out.

Guess that will be cleared by the time the transfers will be enabled.

But maybe @Paul_Crowther will be able to get this cleared way before that with the dev team and provide an answer for this scenario below
As in: will be possible to transfer a console account to an existing horizons+odyssey pc account provided that all the previous data is erased (full save erased in advance)? So technically will not be an account merge since no previous data will be retained in that account

He already did.
Here:
They will be separate accounts. The transfer will not merge details with other existing PC accounts.

I think I will see if support will allow my Frontier Store purchase of Odyssey to be moved to another account. Will have to wait till the transfer is done.

I have a console profile and a pc profile is it possible to just get the stuff from console to the existing PC one or do I need a new account?
I've got console profile that I will be switching/copying over but I also have a PC profile through Steam just for playing in VR. Curious how the copied account on PC will work when I want to play in VR.

I enjoy the views, the discovery, the flights, the silence in the dark .. with proper on-foot VR the game would finally be complete (full immersion) .. try to think about the VR community of your game in the future updates.

Accounts aren't going to be merged. What people have in their console account will simply be transferred to a new PC account. So anyone who has a console account and a PC account will still have multiple accounts after this.

1. Nope, no account merge
2 . The commander name will not get transferred - so your PS cmdr name will get lost
Hmmm … what if …

Step 1
Liquidate assets of PC CMDR; add credit value to PlayStation CMDR; delete PC CMDR (old transfer process)

Step 2
Full transfer of PlayStation CMDR to PC, where the account name IS now available (new transfer process)

That way I don’t lose the 2 Billion credits I manually transferred to my PC account whilst Frontier were figuring out what they would/wouldn’t provide …

He already did.

No, i think not.
That's a separate scenario where is confirmed that Console data is NOT merged with an existing PC account.
But if you do a clear save (or if FDev does that if you instruct them to), there is no PC account to be merged with

Liquidate assets of PC CMDR; add credit value to PlayStation CMDR; delete PC CMDR (old transfer process)

Full transfer of PlayStation CMDR to PC, where the account name IS now available (new transfer process)

that would probably work.

Interesting..... That was possible?

My guess is they are keeping it clean with a copy to a 'new' PC account to keep it simple.

I am going to try the other route of seeing if support can transfer my Odyssey purchase from one PC account to another post transfer.

But, your method may mean I can keep my commander name as I am stormyuk on both platforms.

First YT TL : DW is already up from DTEA. In summary it's one massive gut punch of frustration.

TBH without too much substance and he ignores they announced a key feature overhaul for 2023, so the game is likely to go beyond 2022 indeed, even if expectations are low ofc. At least there are plans to keep it going, and, after all, we all blaze our own trails as always ;)

O7,
🙃

Greetings Commanders,

We’d like to thank you all for your patience whilst we’ve been working on our communications and development plans for the remainder of the year.

Following the launch of Odyssey, our primary focus has been on performance, optimisation and bug fixing, along with adding more features. This focus has had a knock-on effect with regards to our plans for this year and beyond and delayed our communications.

We understand the concern and frustration this has caused and hope this post goes some way to alleviate those feelings. Below we discuss profile transfers for console players and give an overview of the updates coming before the end of 2022.

Console Profile Transfers

We can now confirm that players will be able to copy their profiles from console to PC in light of Odyssey’s cancellation on Xbox and PlayStation. This process will be time limited and optional. We will provide a date for this process once it is confirmed.

The original profile will remain playable on console and the new PC profile will be a copy. Only one profile may be copied over per copy of the game. Please also be aware that this will be a one-time only process.

Elements that will be copied
  • Ships, Holo-Me, weapons, SRVs and SLFs
    • Including Cobra Mk IV if owned
  • Core progression (this includes…)
    • Inventory
    • Reputation
    • Navy Ranks
    • Permits
    • Codex Discoveries
    • Engineering progress
    • Guardian Tech Broker progress
  • NPC Crew progress
  • Cosmetics*
*Cosmetic items applied through the Livery (ships and Fleet Carriers) and Holo-Me will remain applied.

Elements that won’t be copied
  • Commander name*
  • ARX Balance**
  • Squadron membership
  • Friends lists, Block lists and Private Groups
  • Current mission progress
  • NPC Crew names and appearances

*The process will require a new name to be chosen if the original name is not available on PC.

**ARX balances cannot be transferred. We recommend that anyone who submits their account for the transfer process purchases any desired cosmetics beforehand. Any unspent ARX post-transfer will remain available on the original console profile.

Precise dates for the opening and close of this process will be announced closer to the time.
Ok very awesome indeed, I get the Arx balance thing, ok, no worries and honestly I think im broke anyway so don't care. And having to decommission and recommission a fleet carrier to pc is kind of a pain in the butt but, ok, as long as we can get an incarnation of our carrier back I guess we'll deal.

one question about cosmetics, because it has an asterisk and I want it clarified, when you say "Cosmetic items applied through the Livery (ships and Fleet Carriers) and Holo-Me will remain applied."

does that mean our cosmetic inventory of those things will remain in tact or literally just the cosmetics on the ships at the time of copy? if the latter, since you have to decommission your FC, how can that livery remain applied??

Or to more directly ask the question, Will I have to rebuy all the liveries and build my library up again? If so, can I just submit a ticket of my missing liveries to support and they regrant them?

How does this apply to ship kits? will I have to rebuy them? Can Support regrant them if they don't get copied over?

What about the limited time, or event based decals/liveries like the azure paint jobs or Distant Worlds decals? Can those be regranted?

Or are all these questions moot and my entire livery/shipkit and decal library WILL be copied over??

Please advise.
