Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I have yet to encounter a Thargoid. I stopped playing just before they were introduced, around the time of the first UA discoveries and since rejoining, haven't been interdicted. I agree about the 'Boss' fight thing. Not my cup of tea either.
I have encountered many of them over the time they have been in the game but have been pulled out of a hyper jump by them only about twice in all that time.

I have fought the scouts many times but have also given up on the boss fights as too much for me.

Oh man, these things are just throwing their selves at me

I found a spare 12V fan in my 'Box of Things I'll Never Throw Away in Case I Might Need it Some Day'. The temp hasn't gone above 72*C tonight, which is weird because it feels warmer than that outside.
In my experience, there's no such thing as 'Box of Things I'll Never Throw Away in Case I Might Need it Some Day', only 'Things I haven't thrown away for years, and now that I need them I realise I've just thrown them away last week'. 🤨

I have a label on my box which says 'Be Careful, you may need this next week'.
My 'other half' hates that box and always asking why I don't throw 'that stuff' away. I point her to the label on the box.
I would share with her the fact that I found a 12V fan in there this evening, but she'd give me that look when you show a card trick to a dog/cat.

Isn't there some kind of approval "group" somewhere that reviews names people give certain areas, systems or planets? How does that work? I always thought (in real life, anyway) that a discoverer of just about anything is allowed to name what they discovered.
Fortunately, FDEV decided to pre-name everything. Otherwise we'd have a galaxy full of stupid, rude, or obscene names.

I've seen what happens when players are allowed to name stuff. It is not pretty.

forgotten to put it back on then I rushed out to the landing pad...... 🤦‍♀️

GASP

Jameson's Crashed Cobra is the number one spot in the galaxy for collecting encoded materials.

Oh, I did read his messages and collected one other data point if not two there. The regular surface mining there was ample, as well. Lots of manganese, molybdenum, really good variety. A pocket of three metallic meteorites. I landed in three spots with varied geography and good results. But I guess he crashed due to
sabotage
, not due to material mining.

From there I struck out past familiar Elephant's Trunk. This is looking back on it from farther away

And I just reached a port in nebula NGC 1822 during the subsequent test tour of the new Orca.
