So I clicked on "install" the 4.0, but nothing happens. The launcher freezes up. Any advice?

It would be very helpful if you do not answer the questions selectively and answered the people who paid money for your product - why you do not allow those who bought the odyssey to use the horizons 4.0 and play with friends who do not have an addon. :\

Hi Mike! Nothing has been removed from Odyssey, players with the DLC can still launch in 3.8 and 4.0.
You friend can play in VR with Odyssey, I only place via VR and have since Odyssey's launch. It's exactly the same as horizons for VR but looks better, although you need a better setup than Horizons needs. You can also walk on planets, station, and settlements in VR (3rd person) with the camera suite. Although, you have no HUD so cant do any missions etc..So just to be clear... I bought odyssey in preorder. My friend doesn't (he said he won't buy it because he is only playing in VR) and I was very excited for this update because I thought as an odyssey owner I will be able to launch horizons 4.0 to play with my friend making discoveries around the new lore... And now here we are and I cannot launch horizons 4.0 and we cannot be in one instance from the two different versions and the answer is "We have nothing further to say"..... I am so disappointed in FDEV now
Odyssey Players really want to be able to install Horizon 4.0 to play with people who don't own Odyssey without reverting to 3.8, why can't we install Horizon 4.0?

KainHiter I specifically outline in the original post that there is nothing more to add on the situation with instancing, with all of my efforts focused currently on helping players with any gameplay issues or clearer understanding of the information provided on how the situation currently stands.

4.0 Horizons has never been on sale. It has only been made available to non-Odyssey players as an optional upgrade to try the 4.0 engine.

it sounds until you replied like if you own 4.13 you are not able to load 4.0 to play with horizons players in 4.0

Glad to hear your friends are taking advantage of 4.0 on Horizons! Just as before, if Odyssey and non-Odyssey players wish to play together, you'll have to do so in 3.8.
Too much generic statement. I'm Ody player and I want to wipe Horizon completely so it does not download back and don't use my ssd.

Players with and without Odyssey have only ever been able to play together in 3.8. We're not offering to change that. Rather this is an option for non-Odyssey owners to try out the 4.0 codebase.

so horizons 4.0 is single player mode only?
Is any way to wipe Horizons and block re-download of it by steam/launcher? I want to save space on my SSD.

That is a further disappointment then. I was hoping I could be able to launch either Odyssey or Horizons in it's 4.0 version and delete 3.8, freeing up 20 GB.

Why should people partake in content they haven't paid for? Horizons was released 7 years ago. There comes a point where you end the ability for an old game to continue playing with newer releases for free.
It's common sense.
Surely you didn't expect to be able to do it all for free forever.
