And why this is an issue?
Horizons and Odyssey were never able to instance together. And most probably, never will.
And everyone has access to Horizons 3.8.
Now if your actual issue is you, as an Odyssey player, cannot launch Horizons 4.0, they explained that Horizons 4.0 was a courtesy free update for Horizons only players, so those Horizons Only Players can enjoy the new narrative.
As far as we, Odyssey players, are concerned, there is no Horizons 4.0 (since it was meant strictly for Horizons only players)
Now you may argue that was a bad call from FDev, but it's their call, regarding their product.
And i, as an Odyssey player, i think there is no FOMO for us, Odyssey players.
If any Horizons 4.0 player wants to instance with us, they can buy Odyssey - it's discounted on Frontier Store (and on Steam iirc)
I think that's what they're doing - but people keep disagreeing and trying to tell them they shouldn't ...

and the argument is that Odyssey is the future, not Horizons 4.0 which is only a stepping stone, a very limiting stepping stone

There are a bunch of people arguing that people who paid for Odyssey are right to have their access to the latest version of Horizons revoked as a result of paying - but that seems like a strange argument to make if you think about it. But as you say, internet peeps

Maybe Odyssey owners should get Cobra Mk IV? I would put real money that this would convince much more of Horizons owners to upgrade

my problem is that you still cant use srv and slf in mulri crew in 3.8
Another alternative you can find here, which doesn't use junctions (I consider them problematic) and copies only a few files and folders per instance, which currently just take 250MByte per alt (the main has a whopping 76GByte):

FDev gave you Horizons 4.0 so you can free test if your hardware can run 4.0 code and to test if you do like how 4.0 looks.
If you can and if you do, then buy Odyssey, because Odyssey is the future, not Horizons 4.0

i have odyssey, my friend doesn't, also i think it wasn't cheap to not get full accest to elite
Are you FDev's employee? Why do you force to other users to buy Odyssey? Everyone can talk about their opinion, include you and me. But Nobody has right to force something. And I think you didn't know full story about early EDO plan.

I'd suspect that no one knows the full story or the truth about FDev's plan and decisions, except for FDev themselves..
All we write here is just hearsay, speculation and opinion..!

Yes, unfortunately that didnt work out for them.
And it was planned to be released when console version of odyssey get released. Soo... not exactly canceled without noticed
I'm not forcing anyone to do anything.
But if the feature that is interesting you lays in Odyssey then you have to buy Odyssey.
And dont tell me it isnt cheap because It is damn cheap.
