Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Kind of a cool picture, landed in a huge crater, all the bio-signs are in it.

A very flat Co2 moon.

This is one of the darkest planets I've been on in a while, this is the full sunlit side, 12,000Ls out.

I made the money for mine doing passenger missions from CEOS.
The only time I will allow passengers on my ships is when evacuating them from a burning station, even then the attempts to bribe me to leave early and abandon their friends and neighbours is almost enough to make me not bother.

It took me some time because I was starting from low finances but I don't regret it, right now, I hesitate to get Odyssey to take advantage of the interior, I'm not sure if the game is stable enough yet.
It is hugely improved from how it was at launch and runs well for me on my laptop.

For traveling with the Carrier I use Fleet Carrier Router, it works very well, you know from the start the amount of fuel you're gonna use, the only issue with Carriers is their relative short range, 500 LY can look much but going from Wolf 363 to Colonia with a used capacity of 2500 takes 45 jumps and 5814 tons of Tritum.

That's what my problem was last time I was there, the cost of fuel is way too high and I'm not really prepared to mine 5814 tons, at the end of the day, long range travel with a Carrier can be costly if you cannot find a station selling the fuel at a normal market rate.

Since you need about <> 15 mn between jumps after a while you also can find the trip rather slow going, but I'd say, it is a fantastic platform if you're not willing to go through 109 jumps which is what my Krait Phantom would take more or less, you won't crash in a remote planet or stocked because your ship is damaged.

A carrier will cost you money to run, but it will take you to places a ship geared up for mining wouldn't really reach, you'll have access to repair, maintainance, restock of limpets, change of part to reconfigure your ship etc. So all in all it's a very valuable asset.
I will get one it is just I want a little more over the purchase price, note I am not talking as much as the old advice about how much extra to budget when buying a ship so not 15-25 billion.

I have never considered the T-7 as a miner, I like something that can deplete a rock much faster, I always used it when I had cargo I wanted to carry without getting interdicted.

Well, i was able to make <> 10 million per trip, that's roughly 50 to 60 million/h depending on availability of 10 mil+ contracts, the highest I've seen was 20 million.

The Anaconda was good enough for doing this and I tried to run it without shiled but then the autodock keep sending me against the walls of the station and I was losing contracts.

With the Beluga Liner, I'm able to use Luxury cabins and overal it pays a little more, it's all a question of ballancing the classes of cabins, note that I am playing Horizons Solo, so it might be a little different but basically CEOS to Syrius Athmospheric is relatively well paid, you have to pay attention to mission messages because sometimes a nutter wants you to "eliminate enemies", meaning you're gonna be hunted, interdicted and shot at. When the message pops out, I U-turn and disembark the passenger.

Thanks for the info. I'm not really into the PVE foot soldier thing but I'll apreciate the extra features I'm sure.

I understand, you also have to pay for extra services, I chose Redemption Office because I can get my bounties paid on my Carrier and 25% goes to it, and the essential optional for repair, rearm, refuel and refit, weekly upkeep is 12.431,091 CR. But I don't have too much problems making that sort of money, one good bounty hunting sortie is enough.

For infos on cost... Drake-Class Carrier

I have never considered the T-7 as a miner, I like something that can deplete a rock much faster, I always used it when I had cargo I wanted to carry without getting interdicted.

I tried Keelback, Type-9, Python, Imperial Cutter, I don't think there is one ship that really come on top, I'm not looking to stay in the field for hours, and the Type-7, once engineered properly seems to be able to do the job.

2 X 6E Cargo Racks (128 Cap). 5A Prismatic Shield GeneratorThermal resistant ︎︎︎︎︎. 1I Detailed Surface Scanner. 4B refinery. 2 X 5A Collector Limpet Controlers. 4 X 1D Mining Laser [Fixed]. 2 X engineered Shield Boosters, I'm at 32.38MW, of 22.85MW deployed.

The ship is nimble and agile enough to defeat interdictions, was easy to engineer with parts from previous ships and new one and cheap (17,472,260 Cr), for what I do it's enough for me, for heavier load I have a well armed and well shielded Imperial Cutter, I don't even try to evade interdiction with it, I get a bounty instead.

Subject D-2 Rejects Azimuth

Seo Jin-ae, the Project Seraph survivor, has refused to have any further contact with Azimuth Biotech following its offer of help.
She is currently in the care of Professor Alba Tesreau, who stated:
“It will come as no surprise that Ms Seo vehemently rejects Mr Rademaker’s proposal. She has relayed horrific details to me about her abduction years ago, and the invasive experimentation at Oaken Point. The fear that Azimuth operatives were hunting her never passed, resulting in total isolation from her former life to protect friends and loved ones. As things stand, she has no reason to trust the organisation responsible for her suffering.”
“Ms Seo’s health has improved, but I’m informed that a significant neural implant grafted into her cerebral cortex – designed to interface with a Thargoid vessel – can never be removed. With her permission, we are working to better understand the manner of the surgeries inflicted upon Ms Seo, along with her claimed interpretation of the ‘Thargoid roar’. I have contacted both Professor Ishmael Palin and Ram Tah for assistance.”
Azimuth Biotech CEO Torben Rademaker expressed disappointment at the response, and cast doubt on Seo Jin-ae’s legitimacy: “In her fragile emotional state, D-2 may be vulnerable to coercion by Professor Tesreau and other ex-Aegis radicals. Our medical teams have access to records detailing the procedures Oaken Point surgeons were carrying out. It would be unwise of Tesreau to choose self-interest over the chance to truly heal D-2.”
In related news, several newsfeeds have reported an initial bump in public support for the reinstatement of Aegis. Following her attendance at the symposium, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Corcoran told the Old Worlds Gazette:
“Operation Tyndareus has been initiated, with forces engaged in protecting the Andecavi system. Yet the Alliance should not rely exclusively on Sirius Corporation for anti-xeno defence. I believe that the return of Aegis is an option deserving serious consideration.”

Wow. Can I get rid of them? I don't use them anymore.
Yeah, you can fire them.
Many who don't train & need elite NPCs do only hire them when needed and sack 'em right the moment the need goes away.

Beware though, those same NPCs won't be available to be hired back, if you change you mind.
Doesn't keep you from hiring NPC crew later, just that those particular ones will disappear for ever. :)

Best thing to do is to hire an Harmless and train him/her, their wedge won't change and stay at 10% but they can reach Elite Status pretty fast.

Mine is VERY efficient now, she easily can take out a light fighter on her own and some medium too, which is useful when you tackle a multi-ship flight, she never miss a shot, to know when she fired, I equiped her Lance (XG9) fighter with Weapon colour Pink, I hear her fire, I see a puff of pink smoke...
