GMP Mission: Bark Mounds

Mission objective:
Adding more systems with organic life to the GMP.

Mission details:
Canonn Research lists 20 systems with Bark Mounds (list here) but these may have to be verified post the 3.0 update.

Fly to one of these locations or submit another location you know of. Take some nice screenshots, note orbital body and coordinates of the location and report back to this thread.

DescriptionOn our expedition (The South Western Expedition) towards the western rim of the galaxy I discovered a system with 3 Earth like worlds. The system is located 6,140 Ly north-west of Colonia. There are 5 planets which orbit each other. A binary pair of Earth like worlds is orbited by another Earth like world, which is orbited by a High metal content world, which is orbited by a Water World.

Wow, that’s awesome!

Hey everyone, here is a contribution for the Bark Mounds Mission :
I don't know if it is a POI Update, a new contribution or even just a map update for Canonn but anyway I will give it a name and present it as a POI in case it's necessary.
The only ref I found was from Cmdr PanPiper. So I guess he discovered them.

NameAltered Hortensia
GalMap RefSystem : Trapezium Sector XO-Y b1-0 Moon : B 4 a Coord : 12.96 -175.45
POI TypeSurface Features
DescriptionThese organic features are still here even with the 3.0 out. The red color which is everywhere gives a beautiful atmosphere. .

As far as I know, the Canonn has not named the sites (beyond procedurally names) so please feel free to name them and submit them here as you would any other POI for the mapping project. They will be added as "Organic Features" and in addition to a link in the map entry back to the submission here, we will also provide a link to the Canonn map in order to give proper credit to all.

Hmm. I tend to move slowly but if I hustle I might be able to make it to at least one of those this coming week. If I really haul I might hit three.

Unconfirmed bark mounds for 3.0:
If anyone is close then please check, of course you can submit and name it as well, I am pretty sure I will not be anywhere close for a while, and they are all over the place

DescriptionSometimes even the most arid desert may offer unexpected and juicy fruits. Although lacking Arsenic, this compact solar system, sit in the middle of nowhere, The Abyss, provides all the other Jumponium in pretty good quantities. Specially, a very rare 1.2% Polonium on the first (metal rich) body, and 1% on its moon. Praise the Gods of the Galaxy, intrepid explorer!

Hi, this is my first submission - hope I've done it right. Wish I'd been aware of this sooner as I've seen plenty of cool stuff which might have hit the spot.

NameBeauty and The Beast
Game map search refEictach ES-I d10-3
POI TypePlanetary features
DescriptionTravellers to the far side of the Galaxy who manage to traverse the lonely Abyss region will be rewarded by a visit to this interesting system, discovered during the Beagle Point expedition in 3304.

The main points of interest are to be found at the most distant planets from a hot white class A star. The furthest is a deep blue water world, but the real delights are further in. The next planet is a highly photogenic ringed Earth-like world (the 'Beauty') orbiting a ringed sky-blue gas giant. A closer inspection of the gas giant reveals another less glamorous but curious satellite; a small, dirty looking moon (the 'Beast') with an orbit extremely close to the outer ring. A visit to the moon's craggy surface affords a spectacular view of the gas giant and rings - plus the hair-raising challenge of flying between the moon and the ring.

My first submission here, i thought this one was worth posting here.
The name suggestion: Heliotropeia Unicornis or Heliotropeia Monoceratos
Thanks to Corbin Moran for the Heliotropeia suggestion but i felt it needed Unicorns so use of a latin word for unicorn as a combination.
Name:Heliotropeia Monoceratos

My Pink Gas Giant

Name: Roseum Somnium

Reference System: Clooku QS-S d4-145

Body/Location: Planet 1

Description: Discovered by Commander xNathRulez22, on his personal expedition to Colonia and Sag A*. The Gas Giant orbits the neutron star, within the system, illuminating a pink glow from it's surface. The sight of the Gas Giant has been described by him as, "Like a dream...", hence the name, Roseum (Pink) Somnium (dream).

Just a suggestion/correction on my part, since somnium is neuter it should be Roseum Somnium, rosea (roseus, rosea, roseum) as an adjective is feminine.

Hi devs, not a POI submission, but i've noticed an annoying irregularity regarding the Glowing Green Giants listed in EDSM; they're not in the same POI category.

Blua Hypa GGG and Floasly GGG are listed under "Stellar features," while the Bleia Dryiae and Col 285 (Radioactive Green) GGG's are listed under "Planetary features."

In addition, the Floasly GGG's description is misleading, as it does not have any form of life living in it.

Will make sure to fix that in the next update - thanks :)
