Patch Notes Update 2.3 Beta, Update 2.1

Somebody is playing it right now

Looks unimpressive, to say the least.
It was a bit sad to see that player's movements in the cockpit are not visible. No head or hand movement at all. As of now, in most two seat ships, is just sitting there with nothing to do (and a passive pip). I really hope MC get expanded and improved to be closer to the original idea. And hopefully without a two years long wait.

A private group can be formed with just 2 players and is the nearest you will get to using multi-crew in (almost) solo. :)

Did I lose track and exploration has been progressing at 50% the earned rate already, or does this constitute an actual adjustment (see, I avoided the n word!) to normal exploration rank progression ?

Agreed. Some sort of elaboration would be nice on what this statement exactly means :-

Adjusted the amount of exploration ranking awarded from selling exploration data to be 50% of the credits value, 20% of the credits value of Passenger Sightseeing missions and 40% of Long Distance expedition missions

I mean, stated like that, it sounds like if you happen to have a Passenger mission in your tab, any exploration data you pick up along the way actually counts less towards your explorer rank than if you didn't have Sightseers onboard...

Or does it mean that you get an extra 20% exploration ranking simply because you have Sightseers on your ship, because Passenger mission reward numbers are converted to exploration data progress at a 1:5 ratio on top of the 1:2 UniCarto remuneration?

*scratches head*

And what exactly is a "Long Distance exploration mission" anyway? (please excuse me if this is a new thing of which I'm unaware - I've spent all of the beta so far getting video footage for my Turjan's Travels series, and having to remake my Cmdr's HoloMe avatar five times from scratch along the way, because we only have one HoloMe save slot, and I needed several different digital actors for my latest episode!)

Yes, I'm watching two live streams and it's very underwhelming. If you're traveling you have literally nothing to do, you can't even open up the map to see where you're going.

Anyone know that it was before? Does this mean you have to hand in twice as much exploration data to get to Elite compared with before, or does this actually represent a buff?

Ive just spent 20 minutes floundering in my position as gunner. Had no real idea what I was doing. BUT IT WAS AWESOME!!! I love you guys. This has completely changed the game for me. So so good!

Just updated my client.

Multi-crew not works in solo mode - no this option in the friends tab.

- EDIT -

Forgot to quote.
I was answering this question on the first page...

- EDIT -

I don't think it's a stupid question, I was also wondering can I accept multi-crew invitations from friends, or can I find multi-crew ships while I'm playing solo mode, because I have to log out to join that multi-crew ship anyway.

And it's a beta, things may change...

well, its kinda "stupid" if you are already playing the game. you can not invite, or be invited to a wing while you are in solo. you HAVE to be in either open or group mode (and then in the same)
the patchnotes did not include any form of "flexibility" in mode change.
and AFAIK, even if both player are in open or same private group - if they are not on the same cloud-shard, there will be still issues ;)

It partially offsets the increases in credit rewards for the exploration payouts.

Exploration pay-out was buffed during the previous beta build. Now they're lowering the experience gain so you'll probably still have to do as much exploring as before to get to Elite, with double the monetary gain. That's how I read it at least.

Right, so it's offsetting against this to at least leave normal exploration payouts no lower than 2.2.03, and possibly still slightly higher?
Exploration
  • Stop awarding First Discovery bonuses of zero credits
  • Increased the credit values of exploration data for scans after this release. Unsold data from previous scans is unaffected by this change.
And given the caveat on that last line, Explorers still progressing their rank would do better to sell their data before 2.3 goes live, correct ?
