Patch Notes Update 2.3 Beta, Update 2.1

I don't see why that would be obvious. There's no technical reason why you can't invite someone to crew with you in your Solo session, if fighting other players is not your thing.

Is there?

Except that of course the more pedantic among us will start up with "then it's not solo is it" ;)

Solo player ship :)

Right, so it's offsetting against this to at least leave normal exploration payouts no lower than 2.2.03, and possibly still slightly higher?

I think what is meant is..

Exploration (scan data) payouts are more than doubled in 2.3
.. so, rank increases from them would have been more than doubled as well, making it easier to get to Elite
.. so, they are decreasing the rank effect (not the credits) of selling data by 50% to bring them closer, but still higher than, 2.2 levels for the same sort of scan.

The net effect will be a similar rank increase for a similar scan in 2.2 and 2.3, but many more credits in 2.3

And given the caveat on that last line, Explorers still progressing their rank would do better to sell their data before 2.3 goes live, correct ?
Yeah.. given that existing scan data has already been collected it sounds like the scan values are already set. But, the rank increase happens when you sell. So, unless the older scans can be differentiated at sale time, you might expect a 50% reduction in rank effect from old scans. Hopefully not, but it's a possibility.

Multicrew is insane. Quite a few bugs in it obviously, but its stupid amounts of fun. I saw this as a niche thing which I'd only use with RL friends, but this will seriously become a main game mode for me.

Balls I was looking forward to getting more exploration rank from scanning. :( Oh well at least the money is better

Hi everyone,

With the latest beta release (2.3 Beta 2.01), we’ve enable the new multicrew feature. We are aware of various issues that are revolving around multicrew currently. Please note that these issues will be fixed in due time. However, at this point, we’ve decided to allow our beta testers to have at it, so we can start compiling any additional issues that get reported. With a feature this complex, this is very much a beta test... we implore you to make sure you raise bug reports for problems you might encounter in our bug reports forum here.

As always, we’ll be closely monitoring the situation, and if it proves that multicrew has too many issues for the moment then we’ll disable it and hammer away at it some more for a future beta build.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

  • Enabled multicrew.
  • Fix to correctly handle race condition when router type discovery takes longer than mtu discovery
  • Don't try and handle invalid IPV6 addresses
  • Collect direct telemetry on all IPv6 sync attempts
  • Prevent over-counting sync attempts in network statistics due to switching to Turn
  • Exclude Teredo addresses when looking for an IPv6 network connection
  • Fix credits for beta test starter pack
  • Adjusted the amount of exploration ranking awarded from selling exploration data to be 50% of the credits value, 20% of the credits value of Passenger Sightseeing missions and 40% of Long Distance expedition missions

this is shocking, this is gonna people up?
did you not think to bind something in the control scheme?

What is the point of 'something' in controls? Why is it 'shocking'? Why will it '' people up?

Calm down mate, its almost weekend. :)

Agreed. Some sort of elaboration would be nice on what this statement exactly means :-

Adjusted the amount of exploration ranking awarded from selling exploration data to be 50% of the credits value, 20% of the credits value of Passenger Sightseeing missions and 40% of Long Distance expedition missions

I mean, stated like that, it sounds like if you happen to have a Passenger mission in your tab, any exploration data you pick up along the way actually counts less towards your explorer rank than if you didn't have Sightseers onboard...

Or does it mean that you get an extra 20% exploration ranking simply because you have Sightseers on your ship, because Passenger mission reward numbers are converted to exploration data progress at a 1:5 ratio on top of the 1:2 UniCarto remuneration?

*scratches head*

And what exactly is a "Long Distance exploration mission" anyway? (please excuse me if this is a new thing of which I'm unaware - I've spent all of the beta so far getting video footage for my Turjan's Travels series, and having to remake my Cmdr's HoloMe avatar five times from scratch along the way, because we only have one HoloMe save slot, and I needed several different digital actors for my latest episode!)

I believe they are all calculated separately and not related to each other, other than the fact that they are all exploration rewards which increase exploration rank. So, if you scan something and it would (in 2.2) pay 5,000cr in 2.3 it's gonna pay 10,000 (likely more) and normally all 5,000cr would go towards your exploration rank (click here to see the rank levels etc) but in 2.3, because it pays more, and because Frontier don't want to make it super easy to reach Elite ranked explorer, only 50% of that 10,000+ will count towards your exploration rank.

Similarly, there are Passenger Sightseeing missions which should pay more in 2.3, and so, in the same way, the amount which counts towards exploration rank needs to be adjusted to prevent easy Elite rank.

Same goes for Long Distance missions, to Beagle point etc.

Edit: The only other way to deal with this issue would be to increase the CR reward required for each rank.. but then you would either have to drop existing commanders ranks to match the new levels (pitchforks time!), or add the required CR to their stats (which will annoy someone), etc. Decreasing the CR contribution to rank is way simpler.

Thank you - please acknowledge I will not be able to makes use of your CAMERA SUITE due to Mouse/Keyb. flight controls not being freed up and besides you added no ROLL for MOUSE. Even keys that are actually not in use for flight are also not allowing control for the camera. It is useless to me.

Switch to Camera Control Cmdr.
Have to remember because it defaults to Ship Control .. every single time you switch camera (it's OK imo).

Critical binds are;
1. "Toggle Camera Suite" under "Flight Miscellaneous" for me is [Backspace]
2. "Enter Free Camera" under "Camera Suite" .. for me [-]
3. "Next Camera" under "Camera Suite" .. for me [=]

I use mouse keyboard and using numberpad, to keep away from flight controls, success.
(1) and (3) I have for look up / down and (7) and (9) are pan left and right.
For Focus, I pinched a couple of keys with [Shift + ].
