IC 2391 SECTOR ZE-A D101 C3

It's one of those that's 337k LS away from the entry point so be prepared for a long supercruise for potentially nothing. I'm going to go and look back at the stream footage.

Who wants to join me with going on an exploration strike until FD implement some actual tools? One single planet that is able to be searched is over 7 million square kilometers and the only way of finding anything is with our eyeballs? No thanks. I think I'm done looking for anything until FD actually provide some consistency to exploration. Persistent POI's of anything meaningful doesn't even show up on our scanners, for crying out loud.

I mean look at us. We're tuning our graphical and audio settings, making spreadsheets, coding bearing calculators, and arguing over theories about line of sight (as if FDev were even inclined to be as in depth).

As much as I'm interested in discovering more about the Guardians, I think the better good would be to halt all exploration activities and send a message to FDev that we don't appreciate their disregard of players' time, and let them know that we aren't satisfied with the current state of exploration (lack of tools).

I will stop at the ruins, so if anyone needs screenshots of anything please let me know.

I would be very grateful if You can take hi-res pictures straight from above of those *tracks* between the obelisks. Maybe useful for the puzzle.
I call them Quincunxes.

Forgot to mention the really important bit - the Tea is Scottish blend (milk 2 sugars) and the biscuits are Fox's chunkie cookies (chocolate orange) - essential supplies while out searching for ancient ruins ;)

So possible bug, unless anyone can give an explanation... I'm currently on IC 2391 Sector E-A D101 C 3, basically I'm on the sunny side, both stars are above and i've got my sunnies on.. However. When i go to the surface map of the planet, it's showing me on the dark side of the planet.. Is this a known bug for map? I do hope they haven't got the xbox co-ords flipped in reverse bug back.. Anyone else getting this? Was the same yesterday when I was on the dark side of the same planet...

Guiltily glad its not just me! My nice new Diamondback Explorer has been pounded down to 46% hull because whilst moving around the ruins at low altitude I got "deploy landing gear" and "boost" mixed up.

Twice.

Ouch. Protip: As soon as you drop out of glide, set your pips to 4-2-0. The ground is hard an you're not planning on shooting at anything.

I like this a lot.

Nice to see somebody thinking along the same lines I was. Means I may not be as crazy as I think I am.

What I've been doing is setting a lock on the moon and set it center on the target nav (may be higher or lower but center lined).

For example at first I line up with the orbit and then note the heading when I hit the planets atmosphere.

Then I set it behind me and kept it relatively center with an occasional adjustment. As you move you "should" get in line with the orbit.

Any chance someone could come check out D101C 3 87.5072/89.9779?

I just had something extraordinarly weird happen, a really loud banging noise then a screech that made me rip my headset off (I don't do well with jumpscares, and this was one) then a crescendo of music that I could hear through the headset sat on my desk. All the while I'm sat looking at this bit of terrain that appears to be stitched in, runs nearly North to South. I dropped into this area because I spotted a crater-within-a-crater that clutching-at-straws very vaguely resembled something from the known ruin site.

I've managed to get this on stream (streaming to twitch just in case I happened to stumble across something interesting) so I have video of it. Either IRL computer ghosts or ED suddenly decided to join in the survival horror genre.

*edit - a relog has fixed the terrain.

Just signed up to the forum after playing Elite for over 1000 hours! I happen to be on the moon orbiting that planet. I'm heading to the coördinates!

Unfortunately there is no correlation between how the planet is lit in system map and how it's lit in reality. If your planet rotates you can wait at a distance for it to spin on system map until your side lights up, but that's about it.

im at C22-17 C 4 my first attempt at searching for something like this

any advice for searching a planet? I've read a few people complaining that it has to be done with your "eyes". Does that imply you cant be in supercruise at must fly along the planet surface with thrusters if you want to be able to see the ruins?

also the planet view in the map, is that a good representation of the actual surface? I figured since the guardians were obsessed with geometry I would start with surfaces that look to have some unnatural or unique areas on the surface such as symmetrical lines/cracks? any other ideas that people are using to search?

Oh, I do, and boost is my throttle thumb button, and landing gear is on the throttle pedestal to make sure I take my hand off the throttle to deploy gear for this very reason, but, you know, sometimes the wires get crossed ;)

It's tidally locked.. So it wouldn't change. But ok, I thought the system/planetary map had more detail than that, thanks!

....Did you play NWN? :D

I want to see... suffering. I still play it in 2017 haha, the collection of quality modules is huge. Since then I used this avatar, it fits almost any game and it has the look of the mysterious character I like to roleplay in most games

Give me a few minutes.

That's exactly what I was doing. It's a shame lorbit lines don't show in normal space. It's more or less easy to stay in the line of the orbit, but I fear a little deviation will throw all effort down the flush. I was scouting Synuefe XO-P c22-17 AB 3, but that planet is massive and could take several hours to cover the entire area. As I said I like this line of thinking a lot, even the data offered by Ram Tah puts some emphasis in the moons.
